Popis

This dataset contains an ESRI Geotiff with 3 meter cell size representing the bathymetry of the north shore of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. NOAA's NOS/NCCOS/CCMA Biogeography Team, in collaboration with NOAA vessel Nancy Foster and territory, federal, and private sector partners, acquired multibeam bathymetry data in the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico from 3/21/06 to 4/2/06. Data was acquired with a hull-mounted Kongsberg Simrad EM 1002 multibeam echosounder (95 kHz) and processed by a NOAA contractor using CARIS HIPS software. Data has all correctors applied (attitude, sound velocity) and has been reduced to mean lower low water (MLLW) using final approved tides and zoning from NOAA COOPS. Data is in UTM zone 20 north, datum NAD83. The processed CARIS data was used to generate a CARIS BASE surface based on swath angle. An ASCII XYZ file was exported from the BASE surface and opened in ESRI ArcMap 9.1 as an XY event. Then the ArcToolbox conversion tool 'Feature to Raster' was used to generate the final ESRI Geotiff. The project was conducted to meet IHO Order 1 and 2 accuracy standards, dependent on the project area and depth. All users should individually evaluate the suitability of this data according to their own needs and standards.

Popis

This dataset contains a unified ESRI Grid with 1x1 meter cell size representing the rugosity of El Seco, a selected portion of seafloor east of Vieques Island, derived from data collected in March and April 2009. Rugosity is defined as the ratio of surface area to planar area and is used as a measure of benthic terrain complexity or "roughness". Rugosity values near 1 represent flat, smooth terrain, while higher values reflect increasing rugosity or terrain roughness. For rugosity grid interpretation, is recommended that the grid be reclassified according to standard deviation divisions. NOAA's NOS/NCCOS/CCMA Biogeography Branch, in collaboration with NOAA vessel Nancy Foster and territory, federal, and private sector partners, acquired multibeam bathymetry data around Vieques Island from 3/26/09 to 4/2/09. Data was acquired with a hull-mounted Kongsberg Simrad EM 1002 multibeam echosounder (95 kHz) for water depths greater than 75 meters, and with a moon pool flange-mounted Reson 7125 multibeam echosounder (dual frequecy, 200/400 kHz) for water depths of less than 75 meters. It was processed by a NOAA contractor using CARIS HIPS software. An ASCII XYZ file was exported from the BASE surface and opened in ESRI ArcMap 9.x as an XY event. Then the ArcToolbox conversion tool 'Feature to Raster' was used to generate an ESRI Grid of bathymetry. The Benthic Terrain Modeller (BTM) tool, a collection of ArcGIS terrain visualization tools developed by the Oregon State University (OSU) Department of Geosciences and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coastal Services Center, was used to calculate the rugosity of that bathymetric grid. More information on the specific algorithms used can be found in the BTM's documentation. The project was conducted to meet IHO Order 1 and 2 accuracy standards, dependant on the project area and depth. All users should individually evaluate the suitability of this data according to their own needs and standards.

Data from Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED), NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Buoys provide a time series of surface water temperature at coral reef sites. The SST buoy (Model OTR-200 B solar-rechargeable buoy, Ocean Trek Research (OTR), www.oceantrekresearch.com) with external temperature recorder (Sea-Bird Model SBE39, Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., www.seabird.com) telemeters hourly temperature and daily GPS position and buoy status data in Near Real Time (NRT) via an INMARSAT D+ SAT101 Satellite Modem and internally records higher resolution temperature data from the SBE39, typically at a 600 second sampling interval for a duration of 2 years. This record refers to the internally recorded (high resolution in situ) SBE39 temperature data. When a SST buoy is recovered, a new one is typically deployed in the same place. Time series data combining multiple deployments from a given site may also be available. Please contact CRED with any questions. NOAA Ship Bell M. Shimada Underway Meteorological Data (Near Real Time, updated daily) are from the Shipboard Automated Meteorological and Oceanographic System (SAMOS) program. IMPORTANT: ALWAYS USE THE QUALITY FLAG DATA! Each data variable's metadata includes a qcindex attribute which indicates a character number in the flag data. ALWAYS check the flag data for each row of data to see which data is good (flag='Z') and which data isn't. For example, to extract just data where time (qcindex=1), latitude (qcindex=2), longitude (qcindex=3), and airTemperature (qcindex=12) are 'good' data, include this constraint in your ERDDAP query: flag=~"ZZZ........Z.*" in your query. "=~" indicates this is a regular expression constraint. The 'Z's are literal characters. In this dataset, 'Z' indicates 'good' data. The '.'s say to match any character. The '*' says to match the previous character 0 or more times. See the tutorial for regular expressions at http://www.vogella.de/articles/JavaRegularExpressions/article.html

In order to determine the current status of and to detect any long-term trends in the environmental quality of U.S. nearshore waters, NOAA initiated the National Status and Trends program in 1984 with its National Benthic Surveillance Project. The primary objective of the Benthic Surveillance Project was to quantify concentrations of a suite of organic and inorganic contaminants in the livers of fish and surficial sediments from selected sites in the coastal and estuarine waters of the United States. In addition, the levels of certain indicators of the biological effects of these contaminants were measured. Incidences of visible lesions, including fin erosion, have been noted and histopathological examinations of various tissues have been carried out. Originally histopathological examinations determined the prevalence of any identifiable disease conditions in samples of liver, kidney, and gill tissue. In addition, the Benthic Surveillance Project tested fish livers from 30 locations in 1991 to identify the concentrations of DNA xenobiotic adducts. DNA xenobiotic adducts are a bioindicator of exposure to genotoxic compounds. Measurement of biological markers such as DNA xenobiotic adducts have been used to improve the evaluation of contaminant exposure and responses in indigenous fish, and thus reinforce the connection between exposure to toxic chemicals and the observed injuries.

State-by-state listing of weather records housed in the National Archives as of 1942. The original manuscript was published as one publication, but for ease of use was broken into and introduction document that summarizes early weather observation activities in the United States, and one file per state listing stations and period of record. The station listing gives the microfilm reels numbers on which the actual observations are stored in the National Archives. The images on these reels were also scanned, and are found in EV2 in the 'Forts' library. There are fifty .tif files, the introduction and one per state. Hawaii is not included.

This data set consists of one-foot pixel resolution, natural color orthoimages covering the urban area footprint. An orthoimage is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and sensor orientation have been mathematically removed. Orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. Each orthoimage provides imagery over a 5000-foot by 5000-foot block on the ground. There is no image overlap between adjacent files. The projected coordinate system is Georgia State Plane West (FIPS 1002) feet with a NAD83 datum.
