These data include NITRATE + NITRITE CONTENT (CONCENTRATION), SILICATE, WATER TEMPERATURE, AMMONIUM, NITRATE, CHLOROPHYLL A, SALINITY, PHOSPHATE and NITRITE. The instruments used to collect these data include bottle. These data were collected by Patricia Wheeler of Oregon State University as part of NEP. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NODC on 2013-10-30. The following is the text of the abstract provided by BCO-DMO: Data are from Niskin bottle sampling on cruises in 1997 to 2004. For corresponding CTD data see files on the US GLOBEC data system (http://globec.whoi.edu/jg/serv/globec/nep/ccs/ltop/nepctd.html0%7Bdir=globec.whoi.edu/jg/dir/globec/nep/ccs/ltop/,info=globec.whoi.edu/jg/info/globec/nep/ccs/ltop/nepctd%7D). Data are final; see the 1997-2004 Nutrient/Chlorophyll Data Report (below) for details. Data are organised by year, cruise, transect, and station. Station numbers are included for reference to other cruise data. Metadata revised: June 12, 2012

Popis

The Tropical Atmosphere Ocean (TAO) Array of 55 moored buoys spans the tropical Pacific from longitudes 165°E to 95°W between latitudes of approximately 8°S and 9°N. Moorings within the array measure surface meteorological and upper-ocean parameters and transmit most data in real time to shore via Service Argos. The array was part of the in-situ measurement portion of the Tropical Ocean-Global Atmosphere (TOGA) Program, a 10-year (1985 - 1994) study of climate variability on seasonal to interannual time scales, the most pronounced mode of which is the El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon (McPhaden, 1993).

Popis

Fish egg counts and standardized counts for eggs captured in CalCOFI icthyoplankton nets (primarily vertical [Calvet or Pairovet], oblique [bongo or ring nets], and surface tows [Manta nets]). Surface tows are normally standardized to count per 1,000 m3 strained. Oblique tows are normally standardized to count per 10 m2 of surface sampled. This table includes only tows where one or more eggs were captured for the species selected by the user, i.e., no "zero" tows. The "Egg Counts" table includes all tows by species, i.e., both positive and negative tows.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has the statutory mandate to collect hydrographic data in support of nautical chart compilation for safe navigation and to provide background data for engineers, scientific, and other commercial and industrial activities. Hydrographic survey data primarily consist of water depths, but may also include features (e.g. rocks, wrecks), navigation aids, shoreline identification, and bottom type information. NOAA is responsible for archiving and distributing the source data as described in this metadata record.

Popis

This data set contains vector lines and polygons representing coastal hydrography used in the creation of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) for Mississippi. The Hydro data layer contains all annotation used in producing the atlas. The annotation features are categorized into three subclasses in order to simplify the mapping and quality control procedures: GEOG for geographic features, SOC for socioeconomic features, and HYDRO for water features. This data set comprises a portion of the ESI data for Mississippi. ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources.

Popis

Benthic organisms and phytoplankton were collected using sediment sampler and net casts in the Gulf of Mexico. Data were submitted by Texas A&M University with support from the Brine Disposal project. Data were collected from the CAPT. BRADY J and other platforms from 10 October 1982 to 30 November 1983. Data has been been processed by NODC to the NODC standard F028- Phytoplankton F132- Benthic Organisms formats. Full format and format code descriptions are available at http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-datafmts.html. The F028 format is used for data from the sampling and analysis of marine phytoplankton. Information on phytoplankton abundance, distribution, and productivity derived from these data support studies of marine populations and ecosystems. Data reported may include: position, date, and time of sampling; bottom depth and sampling depths; volume of water filtered; and concentration of cells, carbon concentration, wet and dry weight, and counts for each species reported. Comments may be relayed in a text record. The F132 format contains data from field sampling or surveys of bottom dwelling marine organisms. The data provide information on species abundance, distribution, and biomass; they may have been collected by point sampling (grab or core), by tow (dredge, trawl or net), by photographic surveys, or by other methods. Cruise information such as vessel, start and end dates, investigator, and institution/agency; station numbers, positions and times; and equipment and methods are reported for each survey. Environmental data reported at each sampling site may include meteorological and sea surface conditions; surface and bottom temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen; and sediment characteristics. Number of individual organisms and total weight of organisms is reported for each species. A text record is available for comments.
