The grayscale Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands shaded relief data were derived from National Elevation Dataset (NED) data, and show the terrain of Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands at a resolution of 200 meters. The NED is a raster product assembled by the U.S. Geological Survey, designed to provide national elevation data in a seamless form with a consistent datum, elevation unit, and projection. Data corrections made in the NED assembly process minimize artifacts, permit edge matching, and fill sliver areas of missing data. The National Atlas also includes a Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area projection shaded relief file; this file is the same data in an Albers projection.

This metadata is for the vegetation and land-use geo-spatial database for Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park (KAHO), Island of Hawai'i and surrounding areas. This project is authorized as part of the USGS/NPS Vegetation Inventory Program. The program is being administered by the National Park Service's (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring Program in conjunction with the Biological Resources Division (BRD) of the United States Geological Survey (USGS). This mapping effort was performed by Cogan Technology Inc. (CTI) under contract to the Pacific Island Inventory and Monitoring Network (UCBN) of the National Park Service.

NODC Accession 0112340 includes biological, chemical, discrete sample, physical and profile data collected from HAKUREI MARU in the Coral Sea, North Pacific Ocean, South Pacific Ocean and Tasman Sea from 1995-04-14 to 1995-06-12 and retrieved during cruise NH95-1 and PACIFICA_49HG19950414. These data include ALKALINITY, CHLOROPHYLL A, DISSOLVED INORGANIC CARBON, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, NITRATE + NITRITE CONTENT (CONCENTRATION), NITRITE, PHOSPHATE, SALINITY, SILICATE, WATER TEMPERATURE and pH. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD, Coulometer for DIC measurement and bottle. These data were collected by Akira Nishimura of Geological Survey of Japan and Yutaka W. Watanabe of National Institute for Resources and Environment as part of the PACIFICA_49HG19950414 data set. PACIFICA (PACIFic ocean Interior CArbon) was an international collaborative project for the data synthesis of ocean interior carbon and its related parameters in the Pacific Ocean. The North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES), Section of Carbon and Climate (S-CC) supported the project.

Bottle and other data were collected in the North Atlantic from the MUSSON and the GEORGY USHAKOV from 08 November 1972 to 15 March 1974. Parameters include temperature, salinity, and oxygen concentration profiles. Data were submitted by Ukrainian Scientific Centre of Ecology of the Sea (UkrSCES) and are in the standard UkrSCES format. Additional funding for digitizing historic data were provided by the Global Ocean Data Archaeology and Rescue (GODAR) project.

The NOAA Atlantic Real-Time Ocean Forecast System (RTOFS) dataset comprises output fields from the daily operational RTOFS model runs conducted at the National Centers for Atmospheric Prediction. Each model run produces a series of gridded fields containing results of model computations for ocean temperature, salinity, currents, sea-surface height, and possibly other properties. The fields are encoded in the standard GRIdded Binary (GRIB) file format. NODC compiles a series of files into monthly accessions to facilitate archival storage and public access. Two different sets of output fields are included: 1) daily 3-dimensional fields reported on the model's native hybrid (isopycnal plus z-level) vertical coordinates (note: prior to June 6, 2007, these fields are interpolated to z-levels); and 2) hourly fields reported for the surface level only. Each daily model run produces a 24-hr hindcast as well as forecasts out to 120 hours.

During April 2001 RoxAnn single-beam acoustic surveys were conducted at the North Unit of the Tortugas Ecological Reserve, Florida. Thirteen transects associated with fixed bottom sampling stations were surveyed to characterize the ecotone around the stations. In addition survey tracks were run along the outer edge of the Tortugas platform reef complex and into the interior of the platform. A towed video sled (minibat) was deployed simultaneously with the RoxAnn survey which provided a live video ground truth to the acoustic signals. Using this ground truth several bottom classes were identified including coral, seagrass, algae, unconsolidated sediments, and hardbottoms. The original RoxAnn categories are preserved in the Class field and benthic habitat codes from the Florida System for Classifying Estuarine and Marine Environments (SCHEME) system are preserved in the SCHEME field. The depth value is in meters below transducer surface.

Appears to have faster comminution than SWL, comminute stones that are difficult to break with SWL, have effectiveness and safety feedback, and be operable in a safe range. Task 2.4. Validate capability to expel a stone attached to tissue. Enhanced outputs and developed BWL to address this task. Testing underway.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>AIM 3. LIDAR data is remotely sensed high-resolution elevation data collected by an airborne collection platform. By positioning laser range finding with the use of 1 second GPS with 100hz inertial measurement unit corrections; Terrapoint's LIDAR instruments are able to make highly detailed geospatial elevation products of the ground, man-made structures and vegetation. The LiDAR flightlines for this project was planned for a 50% acquisition overlap. The nominal resolution of this project without overlap is 1.25m. Four returns were recorded for each pulse in addition to an intensity value. GPS Week Time, Intensity, Flightline and number attributes were provided for each LiDAR point. Data is provided as random points, in LAS v1.0 format, classified according to ASPRS Class Code 2=Ground 1=Undefined. Water is included in the bare earth ground model, except where the entire tile is covered by water. The following regions of Connecticut are included in this project: Fairfield County - 130 square kilometers New Haven - 170 square kilometers Middlesex - 29 square kilometers New London - 157 square kilometers Please note that the LiDAR intensity is not calibrated or normalized. The intensity value is meant to provide relative signal return strengths for features imaged by the sensor.

Marine Bird Specimen and Feeding Studies (F031) is one of a group of seven datasets related to Marine Birds from Coastal Alaska and Puget Sound Data (1975 -1980). Each dataset uses the NODC Taxonomic Code to indicate species. Marine Bird Specimen and Feeding Studies (F031) contains data from laboratory examination of marine bird specimens collected in the field and analysis of food sample contents to determine prey species and characteristics. These data provide information on population dynamics and trophic relationships. Position, date and time are reported for each sample station, along with environmental data at the sample site including ice conditions, if appropriate. Environmental data may include air temperature and pressure, wind direction and speed, sea surface temperature, tide conditions and habitat and microenvironment descriptors. Species identification, general biological condition (e.g., age, sex, color), weight, and body dimensions are reported for each specimen (multiple specimens may be collected at each sample site). If food samples are taken, food sample source and characteristics are reported. From food sample analysis, prey species are identified and for each such species further detailed data may be presented including frequency distribution of prey or prey part length and weight. These data were collected in 1975 - 1980 for coastal Alaska.
