The U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) operates the Global Argo Data Repository (GADR) as the long-term archive for the International Global Argo Project (for additional information about Argo, see http://www.argo.ucsd.edu/ (last accessed July 2004)). Argo data archived by the US NODC on a weekly basis starting the second quarter of FY 2003, may include real-time and/or delayed-mode profiles of ocean temperature and salinity, as well as related conductivity and/or pressure measurements (if any), collected by Argo profiling floats.

Marine animal sighting and census data were collected from aircraft and other platforms from 01 June 1972 to 07 September 1976. Data were collected by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) as part of Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F127 Marine Animal and Census format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f127.html. An analog file for this accession is available from NODC user services. The F127 format is used for data from field observations of marine animals. Data may be reported either for individual, random sightings or for sightings made as part of systematic ship or aircraft surveys along specified tracks. These data provide information on animal population densities and distributions, activities, migratory routes and breeding locales. Cruise or survey information, start and end positions, start and end times, and platform speed, direction, and altitude are reported for each observation or series of observations. Position, date and time are reported for each sighting location, along with a code indicating presence or absence of animals and, if present, their distance to the observer, shoreline, and ice edge and heading direction. For each sighting location, animal sighting data are reported by species for all observed species. Species identification, total number of individuals, and counts by age group (adults, subadults, juveniles, unknown) may be reported in summary for all animals sighted or by subgroups distinguished by sex, behavior, markings, or other characteristics. The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. ANRCs are corporations created according to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (Pub. L. 92–203 ' 85 Stat.688 (1971); 43 U.S.C. 1602 et seq. (2000)). They are organized under the laws of the State of Alaska as "Regional Corporations," to conduct both the for profit and non-profit affairs of Alaska Natives within defined regions of Alaska. The Census Bureau treats ANRCs as legal geographic entities. Twelve ANRCs cover the entire State of Alaska except for the area within the Annette Island Reserve (an American Indian Reservation under the governmental authority of the Metlakatla Indian Community). There is a thirteenth ANRC that represents the eligible Alaska Natives living outside of Alaska that are not members of any of the twelve ANRCs within the State of Alaska. Because it has no defined geographic extent, this thirteenth ANRC does not appear in the TIGER/Line Shapefiles and the Census Bureau does not provide data for it. The Census Bureau offers representatives of the twelve ANRCs the opportunity to review and update the ANRC boundaries. ANRCs are represented by a 5 character FIPS code unique within Alaska and a nationally unique 8 character National Standard (GNIS)code.

NGDC's 3 arc-second U.S. Coastal Relief Model (CRM) provides the first comprehensive view of the U.S. coastal zone, integrating offshore bathymetry with land topography into a seamless representation of the coast. The CRM spans the U.S. East and West Coasts, the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii, reaching out to, and in places even beyond, the continental slope. Bathymetric and topographic data sources include: NGDC's NOS hydrographic surveys, multibeam bathymetry, and trackline bathymetry; the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS); and other federal government agencies and academic institutions.

The Marine Minerals Geochemical Database was created by NGDC as a part of a project to construct a comprehensive computerized bibliography and geochemical database as a Cooperative effort with the Ocean Minerals and Energy Division of the National Ocean Service of NOAA, and the Office of Marine Minerals and International Activities (INTERMAR) of the Minerals Management Service. The marine minerals project was begun in April of 1983, and ended in 1991. Active compilation of the bibliography ended at NGDC in the fall of 1991. Coding of geochemical analyses at NGDC ended in 1989. The marine minerals database contains geochemical analyses and auxiliary information on present-day marine deposits of primarily ferromanganese nodules and crusts, but also contains some data for heavy minerals, and phosphorites. The NOAA & MMS Marine Minerals CDROM data set, funded by INTERMAR, containing the marine minerals geochemical database and bibliography with access software for PC and Macintosh platforms was released by NGDC in October of 1991. Sources of data include the historic Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) manganese nodule analysis file, the CNEXO ferromanganese nodule analysis file, ferromanganese crust data compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey, and data coded at NGDC from the scientific literature. A placer data set from the USGS is also included. The ferromanganese nodule/crust portion of the database contains over 140,000 element/oxide analyses. Approximately 1,400 heavy mineral analyses and fewer than 300 phosphorite analyses are in the database. The geochemical database is described online through the NGDC server.The geochemical database has been corrected and updated by the International Seabed Authority, sponsored by the United Nations - their geochemical database supersedes the NGDC database.

Post-cruise download of raw data from shipboard computer(s) as furnished by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Shipboard Scientific Support Group and archived by the Marine Biological Laboratory Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Library for the R/V Atlantis - Cruise 015 Leg 12. These data are part of a collection of ocean observation data from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution ships OCEANUS (call sign WXAQ; built 1975.00; IMO 7603617), KNORR (call sign KCEJ; built 1970.00; IMO 7738618), and the ATLANTIS (call sign KAQP; built 1997.03; IMO 9105798). The data sets are the downloads of the shipboard computers after an individual cruise. As such, they contain basic raw and processed physical and meteorological data from the cruise. A data set may include XBT, CTD, and XCTD profiles, underway thermosalinograph and atmospheric measurements, gravity and magnetic field measurements, current measurements from ADCP, and still photographs from the Alvin submersible (Atlantis cruises only). Other data types (ROV, nutrients measured from bottle samples, etc.) and photographs documenting the cruise may be included.

This project is a cooperative effort between the National Ocean Service, National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment, the University of Hawaii, and Analytical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLC. The goal of the work was to develop coral reef mapping methods and compare benthic habitat maps generated by photointerpreting georeferenced color aerial photography, hyperspectral and IKONOS satellite imagery. The enhanced spectral resolution of hyperspectral and control of bandwidths of multispectral data yield an advantage over color aerial photography particularly when coral health and time series analysis of coral reef community structure are of interest. Depending on the type of instrument, a spectral imaging system can be utilized to see multiple colors from ultraviolet through the far infrared range. The AURORA hyperspectral imaging system collected 72 ten nm bands in the visible and near infrared spectral range with a 3 meter pixel resolution. The data was processed to select band widths, which optimized feature detection in shallow and deep water. Photointerpreters can accurately and reliably delineate boundaries of features in the imagery as they appear on the computer monitor using a software interface such as the Habitat Digitizer.

In September 2013, WSI, a Quantum Spatial company (QSI), was contracted by the Puget Sound LiDAR Consortium (PSLC) to collect Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data over three areas of interest (AOIs) in the greater Seattle, Washington area. The individual AOIs include the Cedar River Watershed and Floodplain, Lake Youngs Reservoir, and the SCL/Tolt Reservoir, herein all referred to as the Cedar Watershed LiDAR project. This metadata refers to the first delivery of many. Tiles were delivered as state plane orthometric x,y,z values but have since been reprojected/transformed to geographic, ellipsoidal coordinates for OCM use and storage. Original naming conventions will apply to the FTP available data. The average first-return density of LiDAR data for the Cedar Watershed LiDAR project was 1.15 points per sq. ft (12.41 points per sq m) while the average ground classified density was 0.25 points per sq. ft (2.67 points per sq m)
