Description

The Ecotox Program is at the forefront of research to understand the impacts of toxic stormwater runoff on NOAA trust resources, including salmon that spawn in urban and urbanizing watersheds throughout the western United States. This includes high-profile studies on dying coho salmon returning to spawn in urban streams throughout Puget Sound. Ecotox stormwater work has been funded for nearly a decade by the Coastal Services Center, as leads for the ecological resiliency component of the NOAA Coastal Storms Program. In-kind funding has also been provided by the NWR, EPA, the USFWS, and other partners. The science is at the core of the "Water Quality and Sustainable Practices on Land" priority objective for the National Ocean Policy, particularly Action 5. The need for targeted research on toxic runoff is expanding nationally, and Ecotox has recently begun project work with a focus on the Great Lakes. Related science communication continues throughout the PNW, California, and the Gulf of Mexico. Field surveys for adult coho spawners in urban creeks.

The 2011 Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) dataset contains the most current TRI data available and reflects toxic chemical releases and pollution prevention activities that occurred at TRI facilities during the 2011 calendar year. You can use this dataset to find out what TRI-covered toxic chemicals are being produced and used at industrial facilities in your local area and how they are being managed. Please note that this dataset will change as the TRI Program continues to process TRI submissions. The TRI Program provides this dataset annually in late July to give the public an opportunity to see the most recent TRI information prior to the publication of the TRI National Analysis report in December. To view National Analysis reports from previous years, please consult TRI's archive of National Analysis data at http://www.epa.gov/tri/.

EDFacts Safe and Drug-Free Schools 2010-11 (EDFacts SDFS:2010-11) is one of 17 'topics' identified in the EDFacts documentation (in this database, each 'topic' is entered as a separate study); program data is available since 2005 at . EDFacts SDFS:2010-11 (ed.gov/about/inits/ed/edfacts) annually collects cross-sectional data from states about safety and violence in elementary and secondary educations to support oversight and reporting of the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (Title IV, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act [ESEA]) and the Gun-Free Schools Act (GFSA) at the school, LEA, and SEA levels. EDFacts SDFS:2010-11 data were collected using the EDFacts Submission System (ESS), a centralized portal, and their submission by states is mandatory and required for benefits. Not submitting the required reports by a state constitutes a failure to comply with law and may have consequences for federal funding to the state. Key statistics produced from EDFacts SDFS:2010-11 are from 7 data groups with information on Discipline Incidents, Students Disciplined, Firearm Incidents, GFSA Reporting Status, Persistently Dangerous Status, Students Involved with Firearms, and Truants. For the purposes of this system, data groups are referred to as 'variables', as a result of the structure and format of EDFacts' data.

Description

PETROS is a worldwide data bank of major element chemical analyses of igneous rocks compiled for research and teaching purposes by Dr. Felix Mutschler and Staff at Eastern Washington University. PETROS version 6.1 includes 37,300 major element chemical analyses divided into 307 major groups representing geographic areas or petrologic provinces. The data are for 4,512 cores, grabs and dredges. Also included are 468 average igneous rock compositions calculated by various authors, a bibliography of information sources, and complete format/operating instructions for PETROS. In compiling PETROS, as few analyses as possible were rejected, allowing data bank users to exercise their own judgment on data values. Sources include published works, theses, and in a few cases, unpublished analytical data, all of which are referenced in the bibliography. Generally, only those analyses which included determinations of at least eight major oxides were accepted. Some quality control was exercised, and duplicate analyses, where possible were eliminated. Latitude/longitude information for samples is to the nearest one degree. An accompanying program listing in FORTRAN for searching PETROS is included with the data file, along with complete format documentation.

The gravity data (10,629 records) were compiled by Purdue University. This data base was received in December 1989. Principal gravity parameters include Free-air Anomalies and Simple Bouguer Anomalies (no terrain correction applied). The observed gravity values are referenced to the International Gravity Standardization Net 1971 (IGSN 71). The gravity anomaly computation uses the Geodetic Reference System 1967 (GRS 67) theoretical gravity formula. The data are randomly distributed within the boundaries of central Indiana.
