The Total Solar Irradiance (TSI) Calibration Transfer Experiment (TCTE) data set TCTE3TSI6 contains 6-hour averaged total solar irradiance (a.k.a solar constant) data collected by the Total Irradiance Monitor (TIM) instrument covering the full wavelength spectrum. The data are normalized to one astronomical unit (1 AU). The TCTE/TIM instrument measures the Total Solar Irradiance (TSI), monitoring changes in incident sunlight to the Earth's atmosphere using an ambient temperature active cavity radiometer to a designed absolute accuracy of 350 parts per million (ppm, 1 ppm=0.0001% at 1-sigma), and a precision and long-term relative accuracy of 10 ppm per year. Due to the small size of these data and to maximize ease of use to end-users, each delivered TSI product contains science results for the entire mission in an ASCII column formatted file. Early in the mission, between Dec 2013 and May 2014, TCTE acquired daily measurements to establish good overlap with the SORCE TIM. From May 2014 to Dec 2014, the TCTE measurements were reduced to weekly, which greatly subsample the true solar variability, and thus have little value for solar research. Beginning in Jan 2015, daily obervations were resumed. Release Notes: 2015-04-21: Version 2 applies dark and degradation corrections to the data. 2015-01-20: Version 1 is the first public release of TCTE TIM data. The Version 1 estimated absolute accuracies are 0.1% (1000 ppm) and will be improved in future versions as additional corrections are applied.

The National Aerial Photography Program (NAPP) was coordinated by the USGS as an interagency project to acquire cloud-free aerial photographs at an altitude of 20,000 feet above mean terrain elevation. The photographs were taken with a 6-inch focal length lens and are at a scale of 1:40,000. Coverage over the conterminous United States includes both black-and-white (BW) and color infrared (CIR) aerial photographs. Film type and extent of coverage were determined by available funds and operational requirements. The NAPP program, which was operational from 1987 to 2007, consists of more than 1.3 million images. Photographs were acquired on 9-inch film and were centered over quarters of USGS 7.5-minute quadrangles. Photographs are available as medium resolution digital images in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF). Medium resolution digital products were created with a digital single-lens reflex camera at a resolution of 63 microns, or 400 dots per inch (dpi).

CAMEO is the umbrella name for a system of software applications used widely to plan for and respond to chemical emergencies. All of the programs in the suite work interactively to share and display critical information in a timely fashion; the programs can also be used individually. ALOHA (Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres) is a hazard modeling tool used to evaluate the atmospheric dispersion of hazardous chemical vapors, as well as some fires and explosions. ALOHA prompts the user to enter basic scenario information (such as weather conditions and details about how the chemical is escaping), and ALOHA will create a threat zone estimate of the area where a hazard (such as toxicity or thermal radiation) has exceeded a user-specified Level of Concern (LOC). CAMEO is a database application (with eight modules) designed to assist with the data management requirements under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). CAMEO Chemicals features an extensive database of chemical datasheets that provide critical response information, including physical properties, health hazards, air and water hazards, and recommendations for firefighting, first aid, and spill response. Additionally, it also has a reactivity prediction tool that can be used to estimate what hazards (such as explosions or chemical fires) could occur if chemicals were to mix together. MARPLOT (Mapping Applications for Response, Planning, and Local Operational Tasks) is a mapping program; users can quickly view and modify maps, and they can create their own objects to place on the maps. ALOHA threat zones can be displayed on a map in MARPLOT, and objects on the map (such as facilities) can be linked to related records in the CAMEO program. Tier2 Submit is an adjunct program in the suite, which allows users to complete EPCRA Tier II forms electronically. The facility, chemical inventory, and contact information entered into Tier2 Submit can also be imported into the corresponding modules in CAMEO.

The F-33 is collaboration by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and the Census Bureau. Census is the primary collection agent. Census refers to the collection as �the Annual Survey of Local Government Finances: School Systems and releases its own version of the data file and publication based on that file. The NCES and Census files differ in their inclusion of independent charter school districts, the classification of some revenue items, and the inclusion of some expenditure items.

These GIS layers were created by combining numerous ARC/INFO coverages created for the Colorado Plateau coal assessment. The coal field outlines are approximate boundaries based on criteria provided below under Data Quality Information, Process Steps. These coal field outlines may not overlap exactly with other published coal field boundaries or with criteria used in the geochemistry data. We used existing polygons taken from numerous digital geologic maps, as described in Process Steps, but did not use overburden cutoffs.

In 1966, the Aluminum Company of America ALCOA began operating a chloralkali plant at its Point Comfort facility in Calhoun County, Texas. This plant produced caustic sodium hydroxide and chlorine gas by electrolysis of brine solution using liquid mercury as a cathode. Between 1966 and 1970, mercuryladened process water from this plant was piped to an offshore lagoon on the spoil island west of the ALCOA plant. After settling in the lagoon, the effluent was discharged directly into Lavaca Bay through one of two outfalls Holman 1977. After September 1970, the effluent stream was diverted to bauxite residue lakes until the chloralkali plant was shut down in the early 1980s. Significant mercury contamination of ground water beneath the ALCOA facility has subsequently occurred and may represent a continuing discharge of mercury into Lavaca and Matagorda bays Heidi Tomich, personal communication. Research and monitoring efforts by ALCOA, academic interests, and state and federal agencies have demonstrated that mercury levels remain high in the sediments Reigel 1990, ALCOA 1992, USGS 1992 and biota Gamble et al. 1989, Palmer 1992, Texas Department of Health 1991 surrounding Point Comfort. In particular, methylmercury concentrations in the edible portions of certain fish and crab species continue to exceed FDA guidelines, which is the basis of a fishery closure currently in effect in Lavaca Bay Texas Department of Health 1988. In December 1990, state and federal agencies designated as trustees of natural resources convinced ALCOA to fund a series of preliminary investigations to determine if avian resources in Lavaca Bay were being exposed to, or potentially injured by, mercury contamination. Studies were initiated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the spring of 1991 to determine: 1 accumulation and effects of mercury in fisheating birds of Lavaca Bay based on historical data, 2 accumulation and effects of mercury on nesting fisheating birds in Lavaca Bay, and 3 accumulation of mercury in migratory fisheating birds that winter in Lavaca Bay.

Office of Child Support Enforecment (OCSE) Story Behind the Numbers - Child Support Fact Sheet #3. This fact sheet focuses on data reported in a recent U.S. Census Bureau report, Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2011. The data reported are estimated based on a biennial survey of custodial parents, the Child Support Supplement to the Current Population Survey, March/April 2012, co-sponsored by the Office of Child Support Enforcement. The proportion of custodial parents living below poverty line continues to increase in 2011. The report found that 4.2 million custodial parents lived in poverty in 2011, representing 29 percent of all custodial parents, about twice the poverty rate for the total population. These statistics reinforce the essential role that child support services can play in helping low-income families, especially during an economic downturn.

ABSTRACT: The Landsat Ecosystem Disturbance Adaptive Processing System (LEDAPS) is a NASA project to map disturbance, regrowth, and permanent forest conversion across the continent (Masek et al., 2006). The LEDAPS processes Landsat imagery to surface reflectance, using atmospheric correction routines developed for the Terra MODIS instrument (Vermote et al., 1997). The original LEDAPS software was developed at NASA GSFC by Eric Vermote, Nazmi Saleous, Jonathan Kutler, and Robert Wolfe with support from the NASA Terrestrial Ecology program (PI: Jeff Masek). This version was adapted by Dr. Feng Gao. It is a stand-alone version of Landsat 1T calibration, TOA reflectance, cloud masking, and atmospheric correction preprocessing chain. This version is designed to work with the standard web enabled EROS L1T product for Landsat-5 and Landsat-7. The source code, installation and run instructions, and required ancillary data files are provided. Ancillary data for 1980 to 2010 are NCEP (National Centers for Environmental Prediction) water vapor data and TOMS (Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer) ozone data. The 2011 ancillary data additions are also provided. To update your existing ancillary data, you only need to download recent updates.The ancillary data are updated and maintained on a monthly basis by the Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory, USDA-ARS by Feng Gao [ftp://hrsl.arsusda.gov/pub/fgao/Ledaps/ ].
