These data present a ground-water inventory of existing geospatial data and other information needed to determine the extent and characteristics of the aquifers in the Tahoe Basin. Geospatial and other data include geologic maps and soil surveys of the entire basin and for specific watersheds within the basin at the best available scales; vegetation remote-sensing datasets; well information from various local, state, and federal agencies; geophysical surveys; and results of available ground-water studies. The compilation and development of a ground-water inventory geospatial database will assist the United States Forest Service in better assessing the present and future impacts on ground-water resources within the Lake Tahoe Basin.

The proposed contract effort is for the design, development and proof-of-concept demontration testing of a low cost, pressure-fed liquid rocket booster propulsion system concept. The contract focus will be on four key component technologies in the booster system; (1)composite propellant tanks, (2)pump-fed propellant heat exchanger, (3)self-cooled engine with altitude-compensating nozzle, and (4)annular liquid-liquid engine injector. All four components will be designed and built in subscale in Phase, and will be sized for later incorporation into sub-orbital flight test vehicle. The Phase 1 contract culminates with cold flow testing of the propellant feed subsystem, which is the most novel aspect of the booster. The proposed low-cost booster design also has a low impact on natural resources, and can utilize inexpensive, renewable biofuels. The raw materials used in the contruction of the booster do not include any expensive, exotic, or stategically sensitive substances. The prospect of reusability of most of the booster mass further reduces raw material and energy consumption per launch.

<p><strong>The focus of this analysis was the development of a complex geometry test fixture and test method for determining solvent cleaning efficiency. AK-225 belongs to a class of chemicals called HCFC and is used for cleaning, drying and lubricant deposition applications. These compounds are regulated by the U.S Clean Air Act and can no longer be produced or imported into the United states.  Any alternative solvent must be able to dissolve the soil/contaminant on the part.</strong></p><p><strong>The determination of an environmentally safe but reliable quality cleaning solvent is critical to Stennis propulsion test operations.  A detailed methodology for determining the replacement solvent was devised and implemented during this project.   In reality, parts undergoing cleaning are not able to be inspected internally to determine a cleanliness level.  Therefore, a test rig that could be disassembled with complicated internal geometry was made using several computer aided design iterations. The test fixture disassembly allows for the inspection of the internals following the use of the cleaning solvent.  The contamination solution is made of various items that are used in the propulsion test environment.  Upon “dirtying” the test rig, a thorough post processing inspection exercise procedure was devised to be used when evaluating alternative solvents.</strong></p>

The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual- chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The file is georeferenced to earth's surface using the South Carolina (FIPS 3900) State Plane projection and coordiante system The specifications for the horizontal control of DFIRM data files are consistent with those required for mapping at a scale of 1:12,000.

The Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) dataset is a survey of the Hudson-Hoosic and Deerfield project area. The entire survey area for Massachusetts is approximately 690 square miles. The LiDAR point cloud was flown at a nominal post spacing of 2.0 meters for unobscured areas. The LiDAR data and derivative products produced are in compliance with the U.S. Geological Survey National Geospatial Program LiDAR Guidelines and Base Specifications, Version 13-ILMF 2010. The flight lines were acquired by Northrop Grumman, Advanced GEOINT Solutions Operating Unit. Derivative products from the aerial acquisition include: high accuracy multiple return LiDAR data, both raw and separated into several classes, along with hydro flattening breaklines, bare earth DEM tiles, control points, and FGDC compliant XML metadata.

An orthoimage is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and sensor orientation has been mathematically removed. Orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. For this dataset, 2-foot pixel resolution natural color digital orthimages were obtained from the West Virginia Statewide Addressing and Mapping Board. The orthoimages were mosaicked and reprojected by the USGS from the original 2-foot pixel, West Virginia North and South State Plane (feet) Coordinate Systems to Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) (meters), Zone 17, NAD83 datum. Each orthoimage (DOQQ) provides the equivalent to a quarter of a 7.5-minute map (3.75 minutes of latitude and longitude) with overedge. The overedge is approximately 300 meters beyond the extremes of the corners of coverage. The naming convention is based on the U.S. Geological Survey 1:24,000 Topographic Map Series with the quadrant abbreviation, i.e. athens_ne.tif, etc. This data set covers the entire state of West Virginia including into UTM zone 18 on the east edge.

Acoustic survey is now performed using hand-held devices once every two months on the international space station (ISS). It takes quite a lot of precious crew time and the sporadic monitoring program is not adequate. This Phase I proposal is concerned with developing an automated sound level and noise exposure monitoring system running on a ZigBee-compliant wireless sensor network. In the proposed research, we will focus on a preliminary design of the monitoring terminal that integrates the functionalities of microphone, data sampling, and signal processing along with data communication through a ZigBee wireless channel. Sufficient compliance of the developed sound level meter and noise dosimeter with the related ANSI standards will be tested and demonstrated. This plan takes advantage of our broad knowledge in acoustic signal processing and ZigBee wireless sensor network, and will benefit from our experience and skills with the development of embedded digital signal processing systems using either FPGA (field programmable gate array) or DSP (digital signal processor). The Phase I effort will provide a foundation for prototype design to be conducted in Phase II.

The Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise (JALBTCX) has performed a coastal survey along the MI coasts of Lake Huron, Lake Erie and the St. Clair River in 2006. The data types collected include bathymetry and topographic lidar point data, and true color imagery. The collection effort follows the coastline and extends 500m inland and 1000m offshore or to laser extinction, whichever comes first. Topographic lidar is collected with 200% coverage, yielding a nominal 1m x 1m post-spacing. Where water conditions permit, the bathymetry lidar data will have a nominal post spacing of 4m x 4m. The true color imagery will have a pixel size approximately 35cm. The final data will be tied to horizontal positions, provided in decimal degrees of latitude and longitude, and are referenced to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). Vertical positions are referenced to the NAD83 ellipsoid and provided in meters. The National Geodetic Survey's (NGS) GEOID03 model is used to transform the vertical positions from ellipsoid to orthometric heights referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). Once converted to orthometric heights, the data are then converted to the International Great Lakes Datum of 1985 (IGLD85) using the VDatum program from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).

Effective management of marine turtle data is essential to maximize their research value and enable timely population assessments and recovery monitoring. To provide such capabilities at the National Marine Fisheries Service, a comprehensive Turtle Data Processing System (TDPS, formally called Marine Turtle Data Management System) was created. The system was written in DBase III and Clipper and implemented on IBM/PC-compatible computers running under MS-DOS. As of 2003, TDPS was updated into Microsoft Access. The TDPS is modular, supporting data of various types. Cross-referencing and multiple-encounter analysis are enabled through a core database file of individual turtle identifications, based on uniquely-inscribed flipper tags and passive-integrated transponder tags.

The U.S. Geological Survey has conducted geologic mapping to characterize the sea floor offshore of Massachusetts. The mapping was carried out using a Simrad Subsea EM 1000 Multibeam Echo Sounder on the Frederick G. Creed on four cruises conducted between 1994 and 1998. The mapping was conducted in cooperation with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and with support from the Canadian Hydrographic Service and the University of New Brunswick. The long-term goal of this mapping effort is to produce high-resolution geologic maps and a Geographic Information System (GIS) project that presents images and grids of bathymetry, shaded relief bathymetry, and backscatter intensity data from these surveys that will serve the needs of research, management and the public.

This map layer is a grid map of the conterminous United States, created from National Land Cover Data (NLCD). The NLCD data was reclassified into four categories: forest, other natural (e.g. grassland, wetland, etc.), human land use (e.g. agriculture, urban, etc.), and nodata (water, ice and snow, and bare rock/sand). A 9 x 9-pixel moving window was then used to generate forest edge measurements for every pixel, regardless of its class. Within each window, the edges of all forest pixels were examined to determine what type of land cover shared each edge. Three new grids were created, one for each edge type (forest-forest, forest-natural, and forest-human). The values in these grids were calculated as the number of edges with the appropriate type in the window divided by the total number of forest edges, regardless of neighbor. These grids represented forest connectivity (forest-forest edges), naturally caused forest fragmentation (forest-natural edges), and human caused forest fragmentation (forest- human edges). In the map, forest connectivity is displayed in green, natural fragmentation in blue, and human fragmentation in red. Yellow indicates areas that are an approximately equal mix of connected forest and human fragmentation, while cyan indicates areas that are an approximately equal mix of connected forest and natural fragmentation. Black represents areas with no forest in the 9 x 9-pixel window; white represents ignored or nodata areas, such as water, ice and snow, and bare rock/sand. The data available through the National Atlas of the United States are in GeoTIFF format.

Digital orthographic imagery datasets contain georeferenced images of the Earth's surface, collected by a sensor in which object displacement has been removed for sensor distortions and orientation, and terrain relief. Digital orthoimages have the geometric characteristics of a map, and image qualities of a photograph. (Source: Circular A-16, p. 16) The Indiana 2005 digital natural-color orthophotography was collected during March and April leaf-off conditions. Data covering Vanderburgh County were collected at 6-inch resolution. Data are delivered in county sets, consisting of 4000'x4000' uncompressed 24-bit natural color TIFF files. The MrSID files were created from these data. Adjacent flight lines overlap by a minimum of 30 percent. Imagery was collected with the Leica ADS40 digital pushbroom sensor and processed with the ISTAR system. The file naming convention is as follows: xxxxyyyyH = high resolution photos (e.g., 6-inch), where xxxx and yyyy represent the easting and northing coordinates (respectively) in state plane feet, divided by 1000, of the tile origin (the top-left pixel). 6-inch MRSID files are approximately 8 MB in size. Ownership of the data products resides with the counties. Orthophotography and ancillary data products produced through this contract are public domain data. These data represent a public version of the data set and hold no distribution restrictions - please cite the data set as "IndianaMap Framework Data" with link to www.indianamap.org.
