The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual- chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In addition to the preceding, required text, the Abstract should also describe the projection and coordinate system as well as a general statement about horizontal accuracy.

Summary
Description
The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. School Districts are single-purpose administrative units within which local officials provide public educational services for the area's residents. The Census Bureau obtains the boundaries, names, local education agency codes, grade ranges, and school district levels for school districts from State officials for the primary purpose of providing the U.S. Department of Education with estimates of the number of children in poverty within each school district. This information serves as the basis for the Department of Education to determine the annual allocation of Title I funding to States and school districts. TIGER/Line Shapefiles include separate shapefiles for elementary, secondary and unified school districts. The school district boundaries are those in effect for the 2013-2014 school year.

FEMA Framework Basemap datasets comprise six of the seven FGDC themes of geospatial data that are used by most GIS applications (Note: the seventh framework theme, orthographic imagery, is packaged in a separate NFIP Metadata Profile): cadastral, geodetic control, governmental unit, transportation, general structures, hydrography (water areas & lines. These data include an encoding of the geographic extent of the features and a minimal number of attributes needed to identify and describe the features. (Source: Circular A16, p. 13)

The dataset contains satellite-derived sea-surface height measurements collected by means of the TOPEX/Poseidon/ERS, JASON-1/Envisat, and Jason-2/Envisat satellite sensors. The data is collected twice a week, and is available at weekly and monthly intervals at a spatial resolution of approximately 0.25 degrees. The geographic coverage is global, and the temporal coverage ranges from 1992-present. The data is combined with a Niiler Climatology (Niiler et al., 1994) and geostrophic currents (u and v components) are mathematically derived.

The Grayscale Shaded Relief of the Conterminous United States map layer is a 100-meter resolution grayscale shaded relief image of the United States, in an Albers Equal-Area Conic projection. Shaded relief was created with the ArcGIS Hillshade command, with 45-degree sun elevation, 315-degree azimuth, and a z-factor of 1.0. Very dark and very light shades both represent steeper terrain. Mid-range grays represent flatter terrain. The grayscale shaded relief data were derived from the National Atlas 100-meter resolution elevation data. The elevation data were derived from 2012 National Elevation Dataset (NED) data and show the terrain of the conterminous United States at a resolution of 100 meters. The NED is a raster product assembled by the U.S. Geological Survey, designed to provide national elevation data in a seamless form with a consistent datum, elevation unit, and projection. Data corrections made in the NED assembly process minimize artifacts, permit edge matching, and fill sliver areas of missing data. More information on NED can be found at .

The Capacity Management Database (CMD) is designed to track computer resource usage of the computer hardware running Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA). Information derived from CMD is used to assess the impact of planned new software products, identify the ramifications of archiving and purging of existing data, recognize emerging problems through database analysis, and validate sizing model expectations. Data for CMD is captured from all VistA systems in real time. Accumulated data is processed at each site and the results are transmitted to CMD using MailMan messages. Data can be added to CMD daily, along with the monthly updates. On a monthly basis, reports are sent to the Chief Information Officers (CIOs) of the Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs) and Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) CIOs to allow review of the system's performance and identify future problems (e.g., lack of available disk space). IT personnel can access the database through the VA's intranet (http://vaww.oed.portal.va.gov/engineering/testing/CP/default.aspx) for comparison of their system with other sites. The users of CMD include the VA Office of Information & Technology, VISN CIOs, and facility CIO staff.

Terrain data, as defined in FEMA Guidelines and Specifications, Appendix N: Data Capture Standards, describes the digital topographic data that was used to create the elevation data representing the terrain environment of a watershed and/or floodplain. Terrain data requirements allow for flexibility in the types of information provided as sources used to produce final terrain deliverables. Once this type of data is provided, FEMA will be able to account for the origins of the flood study elevation data. (Source: FEMA Guidelines and Specifications, Appendix N, Section N.1.2).

Vernal pools are a unique ephemeral wetland feature of Californias native landscape which has been heavily impacted over the past century by agricultural and urban development. Current estimates of habitat losses in the Central Valley range from 50 to 85 percent of presettlement acreage. While physical effects have been emphasized in most research on vernal pools there are reasons to suspect contaminant impacts may also imperil these isolated and vulnerable ephemeral wetlands. Vernal pools and National Wildlife Refuges often exist within a matrix of agricultural activity in the Central Valley and may receive pesticides and other contaminants through aerial deposition or runoff. Vernal pool water was collected for pesticide analysis from the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex and the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge Complex representing the northern and southern geography of the Central Valley respectively. Pesticide residues were extracted from the water samples using Solid Phase MicroExtraction SPME and confirmed via gas chromatographymass spectrometry GCMS. Analysis on the GC was run in SCAN mode to simultaneously evaluate multiple analytes. Standards from each pesticide class were used for retention time confirmation and quantification. Concentrations of detected analytes include legacy organochlorines heptachlor, organophosphates diazinon, organonitrogens trifluralin, and a number of pthalates are reported.
