Description
Physical, nutrients, and other data were collected from CTD, MBT, XBT, and bottle casts from the Indian Ocean. Data were collected from 01 January 1976 to 31 December 1996. XBT parameters include temperature profiles. Bottle and CTD parameters include temperature, salinity, and concentrations of oxygen, silicate, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, and alkalinity.

Description
High-resolution measurements of waves, currents, water levels, temperature, salinity and turbidity were made in Hanalei Bay, Kauai,Hawaii during the summer of 2006. A series of bottom-mounted instrument packages were deployed in water depths of 10 m or less. These data support the ongoing process studies being conducted as part of the US Geological Survey Coastal and Marine Geology Program's Pacific Coral Project. Finalized data were provided in ASCII format for the waves, currents, and water levels. Other variables are summarized in graphics and described in a technical report.

The Integrated Science Data Management(ISDM)office processes oceanographic pro files reported for the world oceans in near real-time from the Global Telecommunications System (GTS) for the Global Temperature and Salinity Profile Program (GTSPP). These data also support the activities of the Ship of Opportunity Programme Implementation Panel (SOOPIP) and the WOCE Upper Ocean Thermal Program (WOCE UOT). The ISDM sends a copy of these data to the US NODC three times each week.

Description
These data represent data collected from the Shipboard Environmental (data) Acquisition System (SEAS), a program developed by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide accurate meteorological and oceanographic data in real time from ships at sea through the use of satellite data transmission techniques. The system transmits data through either the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) or the International Maritime Satellite Organization (INMARSAT C) satellites to NOAA for use in weather, climatological and ocean models. NOAA is actively participating in an international effort to increase the number of subsurface temperature observations in support of global oceanographic and climate studies. NOAA's Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) program, SEAS, currently supports about 80 Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS). SEAS XBT data are archived by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) on a weekly basis.

Description
The gravity station data (72,677 records) were compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey and the State of Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys. This data base was received in February, 1993. Principal gravity parameters include Free-air anomalies, isostatic anomalies and Simple Bouguer anomalies (no terrain correction applied). The "iso" suffix indicates that a crustal thickness of 25 kilometers was used in the isostatic calculation. The observed gravity values are referenced to the International Gravity Standardization Net 1971 (IGSN 71). The gravity anomaly computation uses the Geodetic Reference System 1967 (GRS 67) theoretical gravity formula. Note that the original USGS Open File Report by D. F. Barnes mentions the use of the 1931 International Ellipsoid for gravity reduction but this is believed to have subsequently been changed to the GRS 67 system.

The AMAPPS survey will primarily focus on beaked whale species, with the following objectives: 1) Develop a better understanding of beaked whale habitat use and site fidelity for abundance and monitoring of critical areas, 2) Quantify efficacy of passive acoustic monitoring for detection and abundance of these species, through controlled methodological tests and in comparison to a bottom-mounted recorders (AMAR), 3) Determine the distribution and relative abundance of plankton and prey species, 4) When possible, collect identification photographs and biopsy samples.

Description
This is an integrated benthic habitat map system which consists of a number of separate map layers including multibeam bathymetry, digital NOAA nautical charts, acoustic backscatter imagery, hyperlinked underwater still photographs and/or video framegrabs of the benthos, seafloor classification results of living cover and substrate from optical imagery and towboard diver observations, derived depth contours, layers of geomorphic information (slope, rugosity, Bathymetric Position Index Structures, and Bathymetric Position Index Zones), Ikonos satellite imagery where available, and terrestrial topography. These data are incorporated into stand alone ArcGIS and ArcReader projects. ArcReader is a software package that can be downloaded and installed free of charge, and enables the user to view and perform limited manipulations of these map layers.

Description
XBT data were collected from the KANE in support of the Integrated Global Ocean Services System (IGOSS). Data were collected by the US Navy; Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) from 28 August 1978 to 28 September 1978. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles at depths of about 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Cruise information, position, date, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT data file, in which temperature values are recorded at uniform 5m intervals, the XBT Data File contains temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths are at a minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to record the temperature curve to an acceptable degree of accuracy. On output, however, the user may request temperature values either at inflection points or interpolated to uniform depth increments.
