This report is a summary of a LiDAR data collection over the community of Unalakleet, in the Norton Sound region of Alaska. The original data were collected on October 27, 2005 by AeroMetric, Inc., under contract by Rodney P. Kinney and Associates, Inc. The complete, classified LiDAR dataset was purchased by the State of Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys in 2013 in support of coastal vulnerability mapping efforts. For the purposes of open access to LiDAR datasets in coastal regions of Alaska, this collection is being released as a Raw Data File with an open end-user license. A copy of this data was supplied to the NOAA Office for Coastal Management for incorporation into the NOAA Digital Coast. The classifications of data available from the NOAA Digital Coast are: 1 (Unclassified), 2 (Ground), 3 (Low Vegetation), 4 (Medium Vegetation), 5 (High Vegetation), 6 (Buildings), 9 (Water), 10 (Ignored Ground, breakline proximity).

This project is a cooperative effort between the National Ocean Service, National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment, BAE Systems Spectral Solutions LLC, and Analytical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLC. IKONOS and Quickbird imagery was purchased to support the Pacific Islands Geographic Information System (GIS) project and the National Ocean Service's (NOS) coral mapping activities. One-meter panchromatic and four-meter multi-spectral data were purchased for each study area. The enhanced spectral resolution of multispectral imagery and control of bandwidths of multispectral data yield an advantage over color aerial photography particularly when coral health and time series analysis of coral reef community structure are of interest. The IKONOS and Quickbird imagery was processed to minimize atmospheric and water column effects. Photointerpreters can accurately and reliably delineate boundaries of features in the imagery as they appear on the computer monitor using a software interface such as the Habitat Digitizer.

This data set contains vector polygons representing the boundaries used for the production of the hardcopy maps as part of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) atlas for the North Slope of Alaska. This data set comprises a portion of the ESI data for North Slope, Alaska. ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources.

CRED shallow Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) casts are vertical profiles (max 30 meter depth, downcast only) of temperature, conductivity and pressure. Data are collected at select nearshore locations, both around islands or banks and within lagoons. Data processing was performed using Seabird Instrument's SeaSoft SBE Data Processing Software (http://www.seabird.com/software/SBEDataProcforWindows.htm). Data format is discreet, tabular (formatted, space delimited ASCII) files for each profile, with a full header as provided by SeaSoft. Raw file extension is HEX, processed file extension is CNV. The header contains latitude, longitude and other location information, as well as all data processing steps and settings. All dates and times are UTC. All positions are WGS84 decimal degrees. Contact Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED), NOAA Pacific Island Fisheries Science Center for more information. http://www.pifsc.noaa.gov/cred/oceanography.php

This Comprehensive Conservation Plan CCP was written to guide management on Muscatatuck NWR for the next 15 years. This plan outlines the Refuge vision and purpose and describes how Muscatatuck NWR will contribute to the overall mission of the Refuge System. The plan provides an introduction to the Refuge, an overview of the CCP process, information about the environment, information about the management direction, and strategies for implementation. Key planning issues include: wildlife management, habitat management, Refuge roads, recreational issues, external impacts to the Refuge, and support.

This data set includes data collected in the fall of 1997 and covers the states of California, Oregon, and Washington. Collection was done prior to expected El Nino winter storms. Laser beach mapping uses a pulsed laser ranging system mounted onboard an aircraft to measure ground elevation and coastal topography. The laser emits laser beams at high frequency and is directed downward at the earth's surface through a port opening in the bottom of the aircraft's fuselage. The laser system records the time difference between emission of the laser beam and the reception of the reflected laser signal in the aircraft. The aircraft travels over the beach at approximately 60 meters per second while surveying from the low water line to the landward base of the sand dunes.

These data represent data collected from the Shipboard Environmental (data) Acquisition System (SEAS), a program developed by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide accurate meteorological and oceanographic data in real time from ships at sea through the use of satellite data transmission techniques. The system transmits data through either the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) or the International Maritime Satellite Organization (INMARSAT C) satellites to NOAA for use in weather, climatological and ocean models. NOAA is actively participating in an international effort to increase the number of subsurface temperature observations in support of global oceanographic and climate studies. NOAA's Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) program, SEAS, currently supports about 80 Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS). SEAS XBT data are archived by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) on a weekly basis.

A data file is provided on this page for the current registration year and each of the previous years. Each file contains information supplied by the registered company in the application that includes the specified year, including the company name and address, contact information, business classifications, associated identification numbers, and an indication of the activities requiring registration in which the company engages. Because amendments to existing registrations and new registrations for any year are possible, these files are updated regularly

This dataset represents the extent of urbanization (for the year indicated) predicted by the model SLEUTH, developed by Dr. Keith C. Clarke, at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Department of Geography and modified by David I. Donato of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Eastern Geographic Science Center (EGSC). Further model modification and implementation was performed at the Biodiversity and Spatial Information Center at North Carolina State University. Urban growth probability extents throughout the 21st century for the DSL-SAMBI, which encompasses the Atlantic Coastal Plain in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. This data set is not intended for site-specific analyses. Interpretations derived from its use are suited for regional and planning purposes only. These data are not intended to be used at scales larger than 1:100,000. Acknowledgment of Biodiversity and Spatial Analysis Center at North Carolina State University is appreciated.

Bathythermograph data were collected from the PONTCHARTRAIN within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station N (3000N 14000W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 28 November 1969 to 20 December 1969. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.
