NODC Accession 0113986 includes chemical, discrete sample, physical and profile data collected from PIERRE RADISSON in the Baffin Bay and Davis Strait from 1999-08-27 to 1999-10-10 and retrieved during cruise CARINA/18RD19990827. These data include ALKALINITY, DISSOLVED INORGANIC CARBON, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, PARTICULATE ORGANIC CARBON, PARTICULATE ORGANIC NITROGEN, Potential temperature (theta), SALINITY, Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and WATER TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD and bottle. These data were collected by Lisa A. Miller of Institute of Ocean Sciences - Sidney, Patricia L. Yager of University of Georgia; School of Marine Programs and L. Fortier and H. Melling [affiliation unknown] as part of the CARINA/18RD19990827 data set. The CARINA (CARbon dioxide IN the Atlantic Ocean) data synthesis project is an international collaborative effort of the EU IP CARBOOCEAN, and U.S. partners. It has produced a merged internally consistent data set of open ocean subsurface measurements for biogeochemical investigations, in particular, studies involving the carbon system. The original focus area was the North Atlantic Ocean, but over time the geographic extent expanded and CARINA now includes data from the entire Atlantic, the Arctic Ocean, and the Southern Ocean.

Stationary Point Counts at 4 stations at each survey site were surveyed as part of Rapid Ecological Assessments (REA) conducted at 4 sites around Agrihan in the Marianas Archipelago (MA) during 3 September - 1 October 2005 in the NOAA Oscar Elton Sette (OES0511) Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program (RAMP) Cruise. Raw survey data included species level abundance estimates.

Bathythermograph data were collected from the BIBB within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station B (5630N 05100W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 25 November 1973 to 17 December 1973. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instrument. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles at depths of about 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Cruise information, position, date, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT data file, in which temperature values are recorded at uniform 5m intervals, the XBT Data File contains temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths are at a minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to record the temperature curve to an acceptable degree of accuracy. On output, however, the user may request temperature values either at inflection points or interpolated to uniform depth increments.

Twelve quadrats were sampled along 2 consecutively-placed, 25m transect lines as part of Rapid Ecological Assessments conducted at 9 sites at Midway Atoll in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands in September and October, 2002 from the NOAA vessel Townsend Cromwell (TC02-07). Raw survey data included genus presence and relative abundance, and voucher specimens. Detailed taxonomic analyses of voucher specimens are presented.

Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) maps are an integral component in oil-spill contingency planning and assessment. They serve as a source of information in the event of an oil spill incident. ESI maps contain three types of information: shoreline habitats (classified according to their sensitivity to oiling), sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. Most often, this information is plotted on 7.5 minute USGS quadrangles, although in the Alaska ESI maps, USGS topographic maps at scales of 1:63,360 and 1:250,000 are used, and in other ESI maps, NOAA charts have been used as the base map. Collections of these maps, grouped by state or a logical geographic area, are published as ESI atlases. Digital data have been published for most of the U.S. shoreline, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

The instruments used to collect these data include CTD, Coulometer for DIC measurement and bottle. These data were collected by Fumiyasu Nishibori of General Environmental Technos Co LTD and Yutaka W. Watanabe of National Institute for Resources and Environment as part of the PACIFICA_49HG19980812 data set. PACIFICA (PACIFic ocean Interior CArbon) was an international collaborative project for the data synthesis of ocean interior carbon and its related parameters in the Pacific Ocean. The North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES), Section of Carbon and Climate (S-CC) supported the project.

Physical, meteorological, and other data were collected from surface sensors and CTD casts in the Beaufort Sea from helicopters. Data were collected by the University of Washington (UW) as part of Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP) from 04 March 1977 to 11 March 1977. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F022 High-Resolution CTD/STD Output Format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f022.html. An analog file for this accession is available from NODC user services. The F022 format contains high-resolution data collected using CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) and STD (salinity-temperature-depth) instruments. As they are lowered and raised in the oceans, these electronic devices provide nearly continuous profiles of temperature, salinity, and other parameters. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering or obtained by interpolation and may be reported at depth intervals as fine as 1m. Cruise and instrument information, position, date, time and sampling interval are reported for each station. Environmental data at the time of the cast (meteorological and sea surface conditions) may also be reported. The data record comprises values of temperature, salinity or conductivity, density (computed sigma-t), and possibly dissolved oxygen or transmissivity at specified depth or pressure levels. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) contracted with Hawaii-based Aerial Surveying, Inc. to collect lidar-derived elevation data over the low-lying areas within the northwestern Hawaiian Islands (NWHI) during the summer of 2010. A separate contract issued to Aerial Surveying, Inc. by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) funded the lidar data processing and elevation data product development phases of the project. Lidar data provide high resolution digital elevation models that are used for many applications, including but not limited to sea level rise modeling, habitat assessments, and tsunami inundation modeling. In April 2011, NOAA Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument and NOAA Office for Coastal Management deployed a survey crew to the NWHI to collect high accuracy point data to validate the 2010 lidar data. The survey crew used survey-grade Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers to collect high accuracy elevation points. This metadata covers the information for Kure Atoll. This dataset contains lidar point clouds in LAS 1.2 format, classified in the following ASPRS standards as Class 1: Unclassified, Class 2: Ground, and Class 9: Water. The following are the equipment used to create the lidar data sets. Aircraft: Beechcraft Queen Air Lidar Systems: Riegl 140 and 240 Accuracy statements are based on areas of open terrain, with points classified as ground. The accuracy of each point is expected to meet the vertical accuracy standard, derived products may be less accurate in areas of extreme terrain and dense vegetation due to a lesser number of points defining the ground in these areas. Classified data sets such as this one may have varying posting due to some pulses not reaching the ground. This work was conducted under permit number PMNM-2010-033 as approved by NOAA, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and the State of Hawaii, and acknowledged by Dr. Charles L. Littnan of NOAA's Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center.

This data set consists of digital water-level elevation contours for the alluvial and terrace deposits along the North Canadian River from Oklahoma City to Eufaula Lake in east-central Oklahoma for 1982. Ground water in 710 square miles of Quaternary-age alluvial and terrace deposits along the North Canadian River is an important source of water for irrigation, industrial, municipal, stock, and domestic supplies. The aquifer, composed of alluvial and terrace deposits, consists of sand, silt, clay, and gravel. The aquifer is underlain and in hydraulic connection with the upper zone of the Permian-age Garber-Wellington aquifer and the Pennsylvanian-age Ada-Vamoosa aquifer. Water-level elevation contours based on water-levels measured in 1982 and some water-levels measured prior to 1964 for wells completed in a terrace aquifer in the Oklahoma City area were digitized from a published report. Water-level elevations in this data set range from 1,280 feet above sea level in the west to 580 feet in the east. The water-level elevation contours were digitized from a mylar-base map at a scale of 1:250,000.

Hemispherical photographs collected in support of the effort to characterize and interpret information on estimates of canopy architecture and radiative transfer properties for most BOREAS study sites. Various OA, OBS, OJP, YJP, and YA sites in the boreal forest were measured from May to August 1994. This data set contains sensitive human-use data for Critical Habitats, Wildlife Refuges, National Park lands, and other management areas in the Bristol Bay Subarea. The Subarea includes marine and coastal areas of Bristol Bay and part of the southern Alaska Peninsula. (This area extends from directly south of Goodnews Bay to slightly north of Port Seniavan along the Bristol Bay side of the Alaska Peninsula, as well as the Pacific Ocean side of the Alaska Peninsula from Cape Providence to Kupreanof Peninsula.) Vector polygons in this data set represent management areas. Location-specific type and source information are stored in relational data tables (described below) designed to be used in conjunction with this spatial data layer.This data set comprises a portion of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for the Bristol Bay Subarea. ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources.
