This data set contains orthorectified true color (RGB) and infrared (IR) image mosaic tiles, created as a product from the NOAA Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping (IOCM) initiative. Imagery for the Savannah River is in IR form only. Orthorectified mosaic tiles are an ancillary product of NOAA's Coastal Mapping Program (CMP), created through a wider Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping initiative to increase support for multiple uses of the data. The ground sample distance (GSD) for each pixel is 0.50 m. The data are in Geotiff (.tif) format with associated browse graphics (.jpg format), Class model (Prosa/OM) files (.omd format), and Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) metadata.

This project is a cooperative effort among the National Ocean Service, National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment; the University of Hawaii; and Analytical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLC. The goal of the work was to develop coral reef mapping methods and compare benthic habitat maps generated by photointerpreting georeferenced color aerial photography, hyperspectral and IKONOS satellite imagery. The enhanced spectral resolution of hyperspectral and control of bandwidths of multispectral data yield an advantage over color aerial photography particularly when coral health and time series analysis of coral reef community structure are of interest. Depending on the type of instrument, a spectral imaging system can be utilized to see multiple colors from ultraviolet through the far infrared range. The AURORA hyperspectral imaging system collected 72 ten nm bands in the visible and near infrared spectral range with a 3 meter pixel resolution. The data was processed to select band widths, which optimized feature detection in shallow and deep water. Photointerpreters can accurately and reliably delineate boundaries of features in the imagery as they appear on the computer monitor using a software interface such as the Habitat Digitizer.

Camp Dresser McKee Inc. contracted with Sanborn Map Company to provide LiDAR mapping services for Fort Kent, Maine. Utilizing multi-return systems, Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data in the form of 3-dimensional positions of a dense set of mass points was collected in spring 2009 for 187 square miles along the St. Johns River and the Fish River. The Leica ALS-50 LiDAR system was used to collect data for the survey campaign. The nominal point spacing of this data set is 1.4 meters. The U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) operates the Global Argo Data Repository (GADR) as the long-term archive for the International Global Argo Project (for additional information about Argo, see http://www.argo.ucsd.edu/ (last accessed February 2006)). Argo data archived by the US NODC on a weekly basis starting the second quarter of FY 2003, may include real-time and/or delayed-mode profiles of ocean temperature and salinity, as well as related conductivity and/or pressure measurements (if any), collected by Argo profiling floats.

Temperature profile data were collected using XBT and BT casts from the NOAA Ship MALCOLM BALDRIDGE and other platforms in the North/South Atlantic Ocean and North/South Pacific Ocean from 31 October 1988 to 26 July 1989. Data were collected by the National Ocean Service - Rockville with support from the Equatorial Pacific Ocean Climate Studies (EPOCS) and other projects. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles at depths of about 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Cruise information, position, date, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT data file, in which temperature values are recorded at uniform 5m intervals, the XBT Data File contains temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths are at a minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to record the temperature curve to an acceptable degree of accuracy. On output, however, the user may request temperature values either at inflection points or interpolated to uniform depth increments.

The data in this submission consists of three files. It represents all of the Caripol Phase I data spanning a period of 10 years on file at Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) as of July 1989. The data were submitted by Dr. Donald K. Atwood. These data were collected by many institutes in the United States, Caribbean, Central and South America. The data were collected in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. One file contains the data regarding amount of tar on the beaches. The data were collected from February 1979 to February 1989. Second file contains the dissolved and dispersed petroleum hydrocarbon data collected from November 1979 to February 1989. The third file contains the floating tar data collected from December 1979 to November 1987.

These data are part of the data collected for the California Phase II OCS Monitoring Program of the Santa Maria Basin by Dr. Hyland from Battelle Ocean Science and Dr. Lissner from SAIC spanning the period from 21 Oct 1986 to 08 Mar 1987. As part of this program, physical, chemical and biological data were analyzed to determine the impact of oil/gas drilling and production. Originator's data were submitted on tape which have been copied/migrated to current NODC data storage media. Description of the data in the files follows: File 1 of the originator's tape contains carbonate and total organic data (TOC). File 2 contains salinity, temperature and sigma-t data recorded using a CTD. Files 3 and 4 contain hard-bottom epifaunal data derived from the analysis of photographs taken using a ROV and a description of the epifaunal codes. File 5 contains grain size data. Files 6 and 7 contain data derived from the analysis of infauna samples taken from box cores. Files 8 and 14 contain data location and sample codes for all files. File 9 contains ph, shear stress and redox data derived from the analysis of sediment samples taken from box cores. File 10 contains saturated hydrocarbons derived from the analysis of sediment and pore water data. File 11 contains aromatic hydrocarbons from sediment and pore water samples. File 12 contains trace metal (AG, AS, BA, CD, CR, CU, HG, NI, PB, V, ZN) concentrations in sediments and pore water. File 13 contains data on the activity of radioisotopes (PB 210, TH 228, TH 230, TH 232, TH 234) in sediments. File 15 contains saturated hydrocarbons from tissue samples. File 16 contains the aromatic hydrocarbons from tissue samples. File 17 contains trace metal (AG, AS, BA, CD, CR, CU, HG, NI, PB, V, ZN) concentrations in tissue samples. File 18 contains data on the concentration of 2 to 5-ring aromatic hydrocarbons from sediment samples. File 19 contains water quality data collected using bottle casts. The parameters reported are dissolved oxygen (DO) nitrate, nitrite, PH, phosphate, salinity and silicate. Sample locations and codes can be found in files 8 and 14.
