NODC Accession 0117056 includes Surface underway, chemical, meteorological and physical data collected from Ryofu Maru in the East China Sea (Tung Hai), North Pacific Ocean, Philippine Sea and South Pacific Ocean from 2010-04-15 to 2013-09-13 and retrieved during cruise 49UP20100415. These data include BAROMETRIC PRESSURE, Partial pressure (or fugacity) of carbon dioxide - atmosphere, Partial pressure (or fugacity) of carbon dioxide - water, SALINITY and SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include Carbon dioxide (CO2) gas analyzer, Shower head chamber equilibrator for autonomous carbon dioxide (CO2) measurement, not applicable and thermosalinographs. These data were collected by Shu Saito and Akira Nakadate of Japan Meteorological Agency; Pollutants Chemical Analysis Center; Marine Division; Global Environment and Marine Depertment as part of the VOS_Ryofu_Maru_2010_2013 data set. The Global Volunteer Observing Ship (VOS) Program is coordinated by the UNESCO International Ocean Carbon Coordination Project (IOCCP). International groups from 14 countries have been outfitting research ships and commercial vessels with automated CO2 sampling equipment to analyze the carbon exchange between the ocean and atmosphere.

Parameters include water depth, temperature, and salinity. Parameters also include concentrations of chlorophyll, silicate, phosphate, nitrate, and nitrite. Minkley, B.G., and F.A. Whitney. 2001. Summary of Hydrographic/CTD Observations made along Line P and at Station P: 1991-1999. Canadian Data Report of Hydrography and Ocean Sciences No. 156: 40 p. A summary of 30 missions which sampled part or all of Line P between January 1991 and December 1999 is provided. Plots of mission tracks show the areas surveyed, participants are listed, and types of sampling, inventoried. A review of sampling equipment outlines the conversion from 1.7 litre Niskin bottles mounted on 5/32-inch wire hydro wire to CTD/Rosette cast sampling using 10 litre bottles. Missions which supported programs for World Ocean Circulation Experiment and Joint Global Ocean Flux Studies are listed. A previous report contained observations for the period January 1980 to December 1989 and is found in Canadian Data Report of Hydrography and Ocean Sciences No.136, by Tabata and Brown. These data include ALKALINITY, CHLOROPHYLL A, DELTA CARBON-13, DISSOLVED INORGANIC CARBON, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, Delta Oxygen - 18, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, NITRATE, Potential temperature (theta), SALINITY, SILICATE and WATER TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD and bottle. These data were collected by C. Lo Monaco of Universite Pierre et Marie Curie; Institut Pierre Simon Laplace; Laboratoire D'Oceanographie et du Climat: Experimentations et Approches Numeriques and Nicolas Metzl of Universite Pierre et Marie Curie; Laboratoire de Biogeochimie et Chimie Marines as part of the CARINA/35MF19980121, OISO-01 data set. The CARINA (CARbon dioxide IN the Atlantic Ocean) data synthesis project is an international collaborative effort of the EU IP CARBOOCEAN, and U.S. partners. It has produced a merged internally consistent data set of open ocean subsurface measurements for biogeochemical investigations, in particular, studies involving the carbon system. The original focus area was the North Atlantic Ocean, but over time the geographic extent expanded and CARINA now includes data from the entire Atlantic, the Arctic Ocean, and the Southern Ocean.

Marine mammal specimen and other data were collected from the Bering Sea and other locations from 18 November 1976 to 23 November 1976. Data were collected by the Alaska State Department of Fish and Game as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F025 Marine Mammal Specimens format. Full format description ia available from the NODC homepage at www.nodc.noaa.gov/. An analog file for this accession is available from NODC user services. The F025 format is designed to support studies of biological populations and ecosystems that are subject to impact from oil and gas development, marine pollution and other environmental disturbances. Information on marine animal populations, activities, migratory routes and breeding locales are obtained from either surface ship or aircraft surveys. The F025 format contains data from examinations of marine mammal specimens. The data are collected to define behavior, population dynamics and trophic relationships of marine mammals. In addition to species, position, time and environmental conditions at the collection site, data for each specimen may include weight and body dimensions, sex and reproductive status, age, primary cause of death and analysis of stomach contents. The species of both the specimen and its ingested prey are encoded using the NODC Taxonomic Code. Comments may be reported in a free-text record.
