Description
In 2000, the author used point counts, area searches, and callback surveys to investigate the use ofrepresentative natural communities RNC by breeding landbirds in the Nulhegan Basin Division ofthe Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge Lambert 2000. These surveys were repeated in 2001, adding roadbased points in areas recently managed for timber production timber harvest zoneor THZ. Objectives in the second year were to further document the presence, relative abundance,and distribution of breeding birds, to measure betweenyear changes in bird abundance, and toevaluate effects of forest management on the local bird community. This report places emphasis onspecies identified as conservation priorities by the state of Vermont or Partners in Flight PIF.
