The 2008 Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B:08) is a study that is part of the Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B) program. B&B:08 (http://nces.ed.gov/surveys/B&B/) is a longitudinal survey that examines students� education and work experiences as they complete a bachelor�s degree, with a special emphasis on the experiences of new elementary and secondary teachers. The study was conducted using mail, internet, secure server and fax, and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) for postsecondary institutions and computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI), and the internet for postsecondary students. Postsecondary students and institutions which participated in B&B:08 were sampled from the 2008 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:08). Key statistics produced from B&B:08 include bachelor�s degree recipients� workforce participation, income and debt repayment, entry into and persistence through graduate school programs, undergraduate experience, demographic backgrounds, expectations regarding graduate study and work, and participation in community service.

The National Weather Service (NWS) supports the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow (CoCoRaHS) network. CoCoRaHS is a unique, non-profit, community-based network of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, snow and hail). The network has over 6,500 observers in 26 states. Once trained, volunteers collect data using standardized, low cost measuring tools such as a 4-inch diameter high capacity rain gage, snow boards to measure snow, and aluminum foil-wrapped Styrofoam hail pads in some states. This site has been compiled by NWS and contains the results of the observations and data collection activities of these volunteers across a broad swath of the United States.

The 2014 cartographic boundary shapefiles are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). These boundary files are specifically designed for small-scale thematic mapping. When possible, generalization is performed with the intent to maintain the hierarchical relationships among geographies and to maintain the alignment of geographies within a file set for a given year. Geographic areas may not align with the same areas from another year. Some geographies are available as nation-based files while others are available only as state-based files. ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) are approximate area representations of U.S. Postal Service (USPS) ZIP Code service areas that the Census Bureau creates to present statistical data for each decennial census. The Census Bureau delineates ZCTA boundaries for the United States, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands once each decade following the decennial census. Data users should not use ZCTAs to identify the official USPS ZIP Code for mail delivery. The USPS makes periodic changes to ZIP Codes to support more efficient mail delivery. The Census Bureau uses tabulation blocks as the basis for defining each ZCTA. Tabulation blocks are assigned to a ZCTA based on the most frequently occurring ZIP Code for the addresses contained within that block. The most frequently occurring ZIP Code also becomes the five-digit numeric code of the ZCTA. These codes may contain leading zeros. Blocks that do not contain addresses but are surrounded by a single ZCTA (enclaves) are assigned to the surrounding ZCTA. Because the Census Bureau only uses the most frequently occurring ZIP Code to assign blocks, a ZCTA may not exist for every USPS ZIP Code. Some ZIP Codes may not have a matching ZCTA because too few addresses were associated with the specific ZIP Code or the ZIP Code was not the most frequently occurring ZIP Code within any of the blocks where it exists. The generalized ZCTA boundaries in this file are based on those delineated following the 2010 Census.

The Emissions & Generation Resource Integrated Database (eGRID) is a comprehensive source of data on the environmental characteristics of almost all electric power generated in the United States. These environmental characteristics include air emissions for nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide; emissions rates; net generation; resource mix; and many other attributes. eGRID2012 Version 1.0 is the eighth edition of eGRID, which contains the complete release of year 2009 data, as well as year 2007, 2005, and 2004 data. For year 2009 data, all the data are contained in a single Microsoft Excel workbook, which contains boiler, generator, plant, state, power control area, eGRID subregion, NERC region, U.S. total and grid gross loss factor tabs. Full documentation, summary data, eGRID subregion and NERC region representational maps, and GHG emission factors are also released in this edition. The critical facilities data came from FEMA's HAZUS database and represent available information circa 2011. A critical facility is defined as a structure that, if flooded, would present an immediate threat to life, public health, and safety. The data may not be exhaustive, more thorough data exist both nationally and at the local level. HAZUS breaks critical facilities into two (2) groups: essential facilities and high potential loss (HPL) facilities. Essential facilities include hospitals, medical clinics, schools, fire stations, police stations and emergency operations facilities. High potential loss facilities include dams, levees, military installations, nuclear power plants and hazardous material sites. Within HAZUS, the lifeline inventory is divided between transportation and utility lifeline systems. There are seven (7) transportation systems that include highways, railways, light rail, bus, ports, ferry and airports. There are six (6) utility systems that include potable water, wastewater, natural gas, crude refined oil, electric power and communications. This national protocol framework provides guidance for conducting surveys of native bees. This protocol framework is a standardized tool for the inventory and monitoring of the approximately 4200 species of native and nonnative bee species found on National Wildlife Refuges administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service USFWS. Our goal is to provide stations within the National Wildlife Refuge System NWRS with techniques for developing an initial baseline inventory of what bee species are present on their lands and to provide an inexpensive, simple technique for monitoring bees continuously and for monitoring and evaluating longterm population trends and management impacts. The latter longterm monitoring technique requires a minimal time burden for the individual station, yet can provide a good statistical sample of changing populations that can be investigated at the station, regional, and national levels within the USFWS jurisdiction, and compared to other sites within the United States and Canada. This protocol framework was developed in cooperation with the United States Geological Survey USGS, the USFWS, and a worldwide network of bee researchers who have investigated the techniques and methodologies for capturing bees and tracking population changes. The protocol framework evolved from investigations at the USGS Bee Inventory and Monitoring Laboratory at the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center starting in 2002 and was refined by a large number of USFWS, academic, and state groups. It includes a Protocol Introduction and a set of 8 Standard Operating Procedures or SOPs and adheres to national standards of protocol content and organization. The Protocol Introduction describes the history and need for the protocol framework and summarizes the basic elements of objectives, sampling design, field methods, training, data management, analysis, and reporting. The SOPs provide more detail and specific instructions for implementing the protocol framework. A central database, for managing all the resulting data is under development. We welcome use of this protocol framework by our partners, as appropriate for their bee inventory and monitoring objectives.

The National Reporting System for Adult Education, 2014-15 (NRS 2014-15) is part of the Adult Education and Family Literacy program; program data is available since 1997 at . NRS 2014-15 (http://www.nrsweb.org) is a cross-sectional study that is designed to monitor performance accountability for the federally funded, state-administered adult education program. States will be required to submit their progress in adult education and literacy activities by reporting data on core indicators of outcomes on all adult learners who receive 12 or more hours of service as well as state expenditures on the adult education program. States can also report on additional, optional secondary measures that include outcomes related to employment, family, and community. The study will be conducted using a web-based reporting system of states. NRS 2014-15 is a universe survey, and all states are expected to submit data. Key statistics that will be produced from the study include student demographics, receipt of secondary school diploma or general education development (GED) certificate, placement in postsecondary education or training, educational gain, and employment placement and retention.

According to findings reported in The Role of Data in Health Care Disparities in Medicaid Managed Care, published in Volume 2, Issue 4 of the Medicare and Medicaid Research Review, leaders at Medicaid managed care plans in California do not routinely use quality metrics, such as HEDIS, to assess disparities despite having access to data on beneficiary race and ethnicity.
