The High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS:09) is part of the High School Longitudinal Study (HSLS) program. HSLS:09 (http://nces.ed.gov/surveys/hsls09/) is a longitudinal survey that follows more than 21,000 9th graders in 944 schools throughout their secondary and postsecondary years. The study focuses on understanding students' trajectories from the beginning of high school into postsecondary education, the workforce, and beyond. Key statistics produced from the HSLS:09 are what students decide to pursue when, why, and how.

Description

The Employer Costs for Employee Compensation (ECEC) is a measure of the cost of labor. The compensation series includes wages and salaries plus employer costs for individual employee benefits. Employee benefit costs are calculated as cents-per-hour-worked for individual benefits ranging from employer payments for Social Security to paid time off for holidays. The survey covers all occupations in the civilian economy, which includes the total private economy (excluding farms and households), and the public sector (excluding the Federal government). Statistics are published for the private and public sectors separately, and the data are combined in a measure for the civilian economy.

Public Housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing comes in all sizes and types, from scattered single family houses to high-rise apartments for elderly families. There are approximately 1.2 million households living in public housing units, managed by some 3,300 housing agencies (HAs). HUD administers Federal aid to local housing agencies (HAs) that manage the housing for low-income residents at rents they can afford. HUD furnishes technical and professional assistance in planning, developing and managing these developments. Public Housing Authorities are depicted as the physical location.

Description

The Business Employment Dynamics statistics track changes in employment at the establishment level, revealing the dynamics underlying net changes in employment. The new quarterly data on Business Employment Dynamics are derived from the Covered Employment and Wages Program, also known as the ES-202 program. This program is the quarterly census of all establishments under State unemployment insurance programs, representing about 98 percent of employment on nonfarm payrolls. The data include all establishments subject to the State unemployment insurance (UI) laws and Federal agencies subject to the Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE) program. Major exclusions from UI coverage are the self-employed workers, religious organizations, most agricultural workers on small farms, members of the Armed Forces and certain small nonprofit organizations.

The MODIS Surface Reflectance products provide an estimate of the surface spectral reflectance as it would be measured at ground level in the absence of atmospheric scattering or absorption. Low-level data are corrected for atmospheric gases and aerosols, yielding a level-2 basis for several higher-order gridded level-2 (L2G) and level-3 products. Information on individual MODIS Land Surface Reflectance Products along with improvements/changes for Verson 6 are available at: https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/dataset_discovery/?f[0]=im_field_dataset_version%3A32&f[1]=im_field_product%3A10

The North America Shaded Relief data were derived from the GTOPO30 elevation data. GTOPO30 is a global digital elevation model (DEM) with a horizontal grid spacing of 30 arc seconds (approximately 1 kilometer). GTOPO30 was derived from several raster and vector sources of topographic information. It was developed between 1993 and 1996 through a collaborative effort led by staff at the U.S. Geological Survey's EROS Data Center (EDC). The following organizations participated by contributing funding or source data: the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the United Nations Environment Programme/Global Resource Information Database (UNEP/GRID), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica Geografica e Informatica (INEGI) of Mexico, the Geographical Survey Institute (GSI) of Japan, Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research of New Zealand, and the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR). This file is a replacement for the January 2003 map layer. This map layer was previously distributed as North America Shaded Relief.

The collections described in this Directory database provide research and reference services to scholars interested in the history of the health sciences. Some of the subjects include: dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing, military medicine, and pharmacy. While the Directory is by no means exhaustive, it serves to draw attention to the depth and variety of history of medicine collections available to researchers. In the future, we expect that more institutions will wish to be included. The database is keyword searchable, with the ability to refine your search results by categories: organization type, state/province, country, collection subject strengths and organization name.

The imagery posted on this site is of the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama after Hurricane Katrina made landfall. The regions photographed range from Grand Isle, Louisiana to Gulf Shores, Alabama. The aerial photograph missions were conducted by the NOAA Remote Sensing Division the day after Katrina made landfall, August 30 and concluded September 9. The images were acquired from an altitude of 7,500 feet, using an Emerge/Applanix Digital Sensor System (DSS). Over 7000 aerial images were obtained during this time period, with most available to view online and download.

Description

The goal of the Electronic Wait List (EWL) is to provide care to the patient as quickly as possible. To facilitate this goal, patients may be placed on a Wait List for a different team or even at a different facility. The EWL keeps track of appointments, clinics, and providers associated with patients on the various EWL. Patient eligibility information and service connected status is also recorded and updated. EWL is able to determine a status change in the veteran's service connected percentage and service connected priority. As well as changes to appointment, clinics, and personnel that affect Wait List patients. EWL is able to provide email notifications regarding status changes to assigned mail groups. In the outpatient setting, patients are assigned a primary care team and provider who are responsible for delivering essential health care, coordinating all health care services, and serving as the point of access for specialty care. This is accomplished through the Primary Care Management Module (PCMM) of the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA). When a patient cannot be assigned to a primary care team or position, the PCMM software asks if the patient should be placed on the EWL. PCMM Wait List reports assist in the management of patients awaiting a primary care team or provider assignment. The EWL can also produce reports on demand regarding EWL related activities. Displays Veterans Waiting on the Electronic Wait List by VISN or Station. Includes Veterans last name, last four digits of social security number, zip code, percent service connected and enrolled status.

Description

This NOAA Climate Data Record (CDR) of Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) is derived from data taken over global oceans from the PATMOS-x AVHRR level-2b channel 1 (0.63 micron) orbital clear-sky radiance. The retrieval is performed for selected spatial (8-km) and temporal (1 time per day) resolution in cloud free condition during daytime over global oceans. The AVHRR AOT CDR version 2 extends from 1981 to 2009 and includes both daily and monthly data in an equal angle grid (0.1x0.1 degree). Version 2 has improved cloud screening and data processing from version 1. Due to the relatively large uncertainties associated with surface reflectance over water glint area and land surface as well as limited AVHRR retrieval channels, the current algorithm only performs retrieval over non-glint water surface (specifically at the anti-solar side of the orbit and viewing angle is larger than 40 degree away from the specular ray).
