Description

These files contain 2-foot GSD high-resolution orthorectified aerial image map products in GeoTIFF version 6.0 file format. GeoTIFF files are uncompressed raster images complete with coordinate information. The VBMP project encompasses the entire land area of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The State boundary is buffered by 1000 feet. Coastal areas of the State bordering the Atlantic Ocean or the Chesapeake Bay are buffered by 1000 feet or the extent of man-made features extending from shore. 1-foot resolution digital orthoimagery was developed over the majority of urban/suburban areas of the Commonwealth covering approximately 7,167 square miles and 2-foot resolution digital orthoimagery was developed over the rural areas of the Commonwealth covering approximately 31,923 square miles as defined by VGIN. 6-inch resolution digital orthoimagery was developed in limited urban areas covering approximately 1000 square miles.

Description

The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk Information And supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk; classificatons used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent- annual-chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The file is georeferenced to earth's surface using the UTM projection and coordinate system. The specifications for the horizontal control of DFIRM data files are consistent with those required for mapping at a scale of 1:12,000.

Description

Digital color orthophotography of the State of West Virginia (West Virginia State Plane Coordinate System North Zone). The W.V. state plane system has two cartographic zones, north and south. This data set consists of 10,000' x 10,000' uncompressed 24-bit natural color TIFF files at a pixel resolution of 2.0' and 10,000' x 10000' compressed 24 bit-bit natural color MrSid files at a pixel resolution of 2.0'. Digital orthophotography combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. Digital orthophotography is a process which converts aerial photography from an original photo negative to a digital product that has been positionally corrected for camera lens distortion, vertical displacement and variations in aircraft altitude and orientation. The imagery was captured at a negative scale of 1" = 2400' in the spring of 2003 for the purpose of producing natural color digital orthophotos at a 2' pixel resolution. The ortho-rectification process has achieved less than 9.8' ft. horizontal accuracy at a 95% confidence level.

Description

FEMA Framework Basemap datasets comprise six of the seven FGDC themes of geospatial data that are used by most GIS applications (Note: the seventh framework theme, orthographic imagery, is not used for this county due to it being vector based): cadastral, geodetic control, governmental unit, transportation, general structures, hydrography (water areas & lines. These data include an encoding of the geographic extent of the features and a minimal number of attributes needed to identify and describe the features. (Source: Circular A16, p. 13)

Description

Terrain data, as defined in FEMA Guidelines and Specifications, Appendix N: Data Capture Standards, describes the digital topographic data that were used to create the elevation data representing the terrain environment of a watershed and/or floodplain. Terrain data requirements allow for flexibility in the types of information provided as sources used to produce final terrain deliverables. Once this type of data is provided, FEMA will be able to account for the origins of the flood study elevation data. (Source: FEMA Guidelines and Specifications, Appendix N, Section N.1.2).LIDAR data is remotely sensed high-resolution elevation data collected by an airborne collection platform. By positioning laser range finding with the use of 1 second GPS with 100hz inertial measurement unit corrections; Terrapoint's LIDAR instruments are able to make highly detailed geospatial elevation products of the ground, man-made structures and vegetation. The LiDAR flightlines for this project was planned for a 50% acquisition overlap. The nominal resolution of this project without overlap is 1.25m (Optech) and 1m (ALTMS) spacing. Four returns were recorded for each pulse in addition to an intensity value. GPS Week Time, Echo, Intensity, Flightline number and scan angle attributes were provided for each LiDAR point. Data is provided as random points, in LAS v1.0 format, classified according to ASPRS Class Code 2=Ground 1=Undefined.
