This workshop report summarizes the development of a citizen science framework for use by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The report details the desired outcomes for the workshop, including workshop sessions summaries for framework criteria and definitions, data management, working with sister agencies, success stories case studies, and a pilot framework. Next, action items and next steps for the framework, and a list of workshop participants and the FWS core team follows. Appended to the report is a draft Framework, which was the primary outcome of the workshop. The US Fish and Wildlife Service intends to continuing refining the framework to publish it to support the work of staff in realizing citizen science.
