Description

An investigation of the ecology and population dynamics of Alaskan polar bears has continued since 1967. As part of that program, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service personnel conducted a polar bear capturing and marking program near Cape Lisburne Air Force Base during March 1981. Primary objectives were 1 Determine the size and trends of polar bear populations in Alaska and2 Determine the movement and distribution patterns of bears.
