Infectious diseases have been afflicting Soldiers and civilians alike for centuries. Infectious diseases have traditionally been the greatest threat to Soldier's health and readiness both in the field and in the garrison. Since the WRAIR's inception, our primary challenge has been disease prevention based on evaluation, control, and treatment of naturally occurring infectious diseases.
