The National Education Longitudinal Study of 1988 (NELS:88) is a study that is part of the Longitudinal Studies Branch (LSB) program; program data is available since 1988 at . NELS:88 (http://nces.ed.gov/surveys/nels88/) is a longitudinal study that is designed to provide trend data about critical transitions experienced by students as they leave middle or junior high school, and progress through high school and into postsecondary institutions or the work force. A nationally representative sample of eighth-graders were first surveyed in the spring of 1988. A sample of these respondents were then resurveyed through four follow-ups in 1990, 1992, 1994, and 2000. Overall weighted response rate was unavailable as of December 2014. Key statistics produced from NELS:88 data can be used for policy-relevant research about educational processes and outcomes, for example: student learning; early and late predictors of dropping out; and school effects on students' access to programs and equal opportunity to learn.

Description

This digital elevation model (DEM) is a part of a series of DEMs produced for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer. The DEM includes best available lidar data known to exist at the time of DEM creation that meets project specifications for those counties within the boundary of the San Diego, CA Weather Forecast Office (WFO), as defined by the NOAA National Weather Service. The DEM is derived from LiDAR data collected for the California Coastal Conservancy between 2009 and 2011. The DEM extent includes San Diego and Orange counties. Hydrographic breaklines used in the creation of the DEM were obtained from the California Coastal Conservancy. The DEMs are hydro flattened such that water elevations are less than or equal to 0 meters. The DEM is referenced vertically to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) with vertical units of meters and horizontally to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). The resolution of the DEM is approximately 5 meters.

Description

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a statistical measure of change, over time, of the prices of goods and services in major expenditure groups--such as food, housing, apparel, transportation, and medical care--typically purchased by urban consumers. Essentially, it compares the cost of a sample "market basket" of goods and services in a specific month relative to the cost of the same "market basket" in an earlier reference period. This reference period is designated as the base period. The CPI introduced by the BLS in 1987 includes indexes for two populations; urban wage earners and clerical workers (MW), and all urban consumers (MU).

NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) is building high-resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) for select U.S. coastal regions. These integrated bathymetric-topographic DEMs are used to support tsunami forecasting and modeling efforts at the NOAA Center for Tsunami Research, Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL). The DEMs are part of the tsunami forecast system SIFT (Short-term Inundation Forecasting for Tsunamis) currently being developed by PMEL for the NOAA Tsunami Warning Centers, and are used in the MOST (Method of Splitting Tsunami) model developed by PMEL to simulate tsunami generation, propagation, and inundation. Bathymetric, topographic, and shoreline data used in DEM compilation are obtained from various sources, including NGDC, the U.S. National Ocean Service (NOS), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and other federal, state, and local government agencies, academic institutions, and private companies. DEMs are referenced to the vertical tidal datum of Mean High Water (MHW) and horizontal datum of World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84). Grid spacings for the DEMs range from 1/3 arc-second (~10 meters) to 3 arc-seconds (~90 meters).

The Floodplain Mapping/Redelineation study deliverables depict and quantify the flood risks for the study area. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual- chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The Floodplain Mapping/Redelineation flood risk boundaries are derived from the engineering information Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Earth Eye collected LiDAR data for approximately 4,589 square kilometers that partially cover the Connecticut counties of Hartford, Tolland, Windham, Middlesex and New London. The nominal pulse spacing for this project was no greater than 1 point every 0.7 meters. Dewberry used proprietary procedures to classify the LAS according to project specifications: 1-Unclassified, 2-Ground, 7-Noise, 9-Water. Dewberry produced 3D breaklines and combined these with the final LiDAR data to produce seamless hydro flattened DEMs for the 4,840 tiles (1000 m x 1000 m) that cover the project area.

Description

The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Block Groups (BGs) are clusters of blocks within the same census tract. Each census tract contains at least one BG, and BGs are uniquely numbered within census tracts. BGs have a valid code range of 0 through 9. BGs have the same first digit of their 4-digit census block number from the same decennial census. For example, tabulation blocks numbered 3001, 3002, 3003,.., 3999 within census tract 1210.02 are also within BG 3 within that census tract. BGs coded 0 are intended to only include water area, no land area, and they are generally in territorial seas, coastal water, and Great Lakes water areas. Block groups generally contain between 600 and 3,000 people. A BG usually covers a contiguous area but never crosses county or census tract boundaries. They may, however, cross the boundaries of other geographic entities like county subdivisions, places, urban areas, voting districts, congressional districts, and American Indian / Alaska Native / Native Hawaiian areas. The BG boundaries in this release are those that were delineated as part of the Census Bureau's Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) for the 2010 Census.

Section 4432(a) of the Balanced Budget Act (BBA) of 1997 modified how payment is made for Medicare skilled nursing facility (SNF) services. Effective with cost reporting periods beginning on or after July 1, 1998, SNFs are no longer paid on a reasonable cost basis or through low volume prospectively determined rates, but rather on the basis of a prospective payment system (PPS). The PPS payment rates are adjusted for case mix and geographic variation in wages and cover all costs of furnishing covered SNF services (routine, ancillary, and capital-related costs).

Description

NASA has a requirement for a neurodiagnostic tool that can be used to monitor the behavioral health of the crew during long duration Exploration missions. The device should unobtrusively monitor and detect neurophysiological markers of stress that could lead to behavioral or performance deterioration. The neurodiagnostic monitor should be lightweight and compact and should require minimal time or effort for the crew to use. Among the various neurodiagnostic modalities, electroencephalography (EEG) and functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) are most amenable for integration into a lightweight, wearable system that can be adapted for use in Space. We will demonstrate the feasibility of a wearable multi-modality neurophysiological device for monitoring stress. The wearable monitoring system will provide a real-time functional imaging of cortical activity while the crew performs Exploration mission activities.

The MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) BRDF/Albedo Model Parameters product (MCD43A1) contains three-dimensional (3D) data sets providing users with weighting parameters for the models used to derive the Albedo and BRDF products (MCD43A3 and MCD43A4). The models support the spatial relationship and parameter characterization best describing the differences in radiation due to the scattering (anisotropy) of each pixel, relying on multi-date, atmospherically corrected, cloud-cleared input data measured over 16-day periods. Both Terra and Aqua data are used in the generation of this product, providing the highest probability for quality input data and designating it as an MCD, meaning Combined, product. Information on each individual MODIS Platform/Product are available at: https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/lpdaac/products/modis_products_table
