The objective of this project is to mature technologies and systems that will enable future Extravehicular Activity (EVA) systems. Advanced EVA systems have applicability to all future human spaceflight missions. Advanced EVA systems have applications to current operations on the International Space Station (ISS), to extended operations on ISS past 2020, future missions to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) such as satellite servicing, missions beyond LEO such as exploration of asteroids, and surface exploration missions to the Moon or Mars. An EVA system would be a significant element of any future human exploration mission and will enable suitport operations in a Deep Space Habitat or Multi-Mission Space Exploration Vehicle (MMSEV). The Human Exploration Framework Team (HEFT) ranked EVA systems as one of the top five needed areas of future development for human space flight. The goal is to produce real cost, performance, and reliability data through building and testing high fidelity systems, culminating in a flight demonstration on ISS of an exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU). The current plan leading to this flight demonstration consists of subsystem demonstrations of increasing fidelity. These demonstrations would produce hardware and systems that could then be combined into a complete EVA system which would be used in human thermal-vacuum chamber tests and finally in a flight demonstration.

A CPC forecaster (from a rotating schedule of 5 as of August 2013) creates the Monthly Drought Outlook map and narratives. The map, produced using GIS, shows where current drought areas are expected to improve, be removed, or persist with intensity, as well as new areas where drought may develop, at the end of the forecast period. The current drought areas are obtained from the most recent weekly U.S. Drought Monitor where drought is considered D1 (moderate drought) or worse. There are two narratives: a brief, general summary and a detailed, regional technical discussion that describes the thought process, forecast tools used, and confidence for each region on the map. These outlook products apply to the following 1-month period from the date of issue. The MDO replaced the updated SDO (which had been released on the first Thursday of the month) starting on June 30, 2013, with the MDO released on the last day of the month. The forecast applies to all 50 states of the United States plus Puerto Rico.

Output fields from the NOAA WAVEWATCH III® wave model monthly hindcasts for 2015-05 (NCEI Accession 0130736)
Published By National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce
Issued over 9 years ago
Summary
Description
The NOAA WAVEWATCH III® hindcast dataset comprises output fields from the monthly WAVEWATCH III® hindcast model runs conducted at the National Centers for Environmental Prediction. Each model run produces a collection of files containing gridded fields comprised of input and mean wave parameters such as the significant wave height, directions, frequencies etc. Once per month, a wave simulation is carried out using restart files from the previous month and forced by hindcast wind products for the entire month. The resulting output data are transferred to NODC on a monthly basis. NODC assembles the series of files into monthly accessions to facilitate archival retention and public access. The fields are encoded in the standard GRIdded Binary version 2 (GRIB2) file format. Wave spectral data summaries are included, as well as detailed spectra at selected locations, in tabular text format. Nine different sets of output fields, corresponding to nine different grids used in the numerical simulations, are included. These include a global grid, as well as regional and coastal grids covering much of the North Atlantic and North Pacific oceans.

Where You Live accesses facility and unit attribute data as well as emissions data using a series of interactive national and state maps. This module allows the user to view data for regions of interest throughout the country using an intuitive interface, while also providing a national and statewide context for data specific to one or more facilities. EPA's Clean Air Markets Division (CAMD) includes several market-based regulatory programs designed to improve air quality and ecosystems. The most well-known of these programs are EPA's Acid Rain Program and the NOx Programs, which reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx)-compounds that adversely affect air quality, the environment, and public health. CAMD also plays an integral role in the development and implementation of the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR).

Description
There is presently poor knowledge throughout the National Airspace System (NAS) of the airport configurations currently in use at each airport. There is even less information about expected future configuration changes. The airport configuration is a primary factor in various airport characteristics such as arrival and departure capacities and terminal area traffic patterns. These characteristics, in turn, are central to a variety of Air Traffic Management (ATM) decisions, such as setting arrival restrictions to avoid airborne holding. Consequently, uncertainty about the current or future airport configuration can result in traffic management decisions that under-utilize or overload airports, resulting in unnecessary or inefficient delays. Moreover, air carriers would make use of configuration information. FedEx, for example, selects parking gates for arrivals to Memphis based on expected departure runways to minimize taxi congestion and time. The proposed effort will develop an airport configuration recognition and prediction system. The airport configuration depends on a variety of factors; Phase 1 will consider local weather, arrival and departure demand, noise restrictions, and airport-specific considerations.

Summary
Description
The National Geodetic Survey Remote Sensing Division in collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Emergency Management Agency, Department of Natural Resources, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency flew an Emerge/Applanix Digital Sensor System along the outer banks of North Carolina in support of recovery efforts and coastline change evaluation following Hurricane Isabel. On September 19, 2003, within a day after the hurricane hit land, NGS flew a NOAA Twin Otter equipped with the digital camera to collect imagery that could be quickly supplied to agencies for rapid response within the disaster areas. The digital sensor system incorporates the camera with an inertial navigation system including a GPS unit and inertial measurement unit (IMU) to allow for rapid georeferencing of the images. The camera was flown at about 2500 meters collecting imagery from Topsail Island near Camp Lejeune, NC up to the NC/Virginia state line. Over 600 images were collected over the three day period. Imagery collected by the North Carolina Department of Transportation in 1998 offered a quick reference to pre-storm conditions. Selected images are available to view online.

The Monthly Program Cost Report (MPCR) replaces the Cost Distribution Report (CDR). The MPCR provides summary information about Veterans Affairs operational costs, Full Time Equivalents (FTE), and workload (number of patient bed days, outpatient clinic stops, etc.). MPCR receives financial data feeds from Decision Support System and workload data feeds from National Patient Care Database, Home Based Primary Care and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Work Measurement in order to provide the VHA with a flexible cost reporting system. The MPCR is assembled from information from all Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMCs). MPCR is processed monthly and consists of two reports: station level and a national level rollup. These two reports are available to users via Roger's Software Development (RSD) on the Austin Information Technology Center mainframe and CD ROM. The primary users of MPCR are the VAMC staff, VHA Budget Office, Medical Care Cost Recovery, and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Budget.

Description
The first release of Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) data was provided in 1-degree digital elevation model (DEM) tiles from the USGS 2003. The data was released continent by continent, as and when the data was processed by NASA and the USGS. For the United States, data was made available at 1-arc second resolution (approximately 30m at the equator), but for the rest of the world the 1-arc second product is degraded to 3-arc seconds (approximately 90m at the equator). SRTM elevation data has now been released for the entire terrestrial surface, and a Finished product has now been released.

Monthly tabulated index of the West Pacific (WP) teleconnection pattern. The data spans the period 1950 to present. The index is derived from a rotated principal component analysis (RPCA) of normalized 500-hPa height anomalies from the period 1950-2000. The data source is the NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis. The resulting time series is then re-normalized to coincide with the 1981-2010 base period monthly means. The index is updated monthly. Calculating the index using the RPCA approach is a somewhat complicated process, in that it is not derived independently of the other extratropical teleconnection pattern indices.

The State Inpatient Databases (SID) contain the universe of hospital inpatient discharge abstracts in States participating in HCUP that release their data through the HCUP Central Distributor. Restricted access data files are available with a data use agreement and brief online security training. The data are translated into a uniform format to facilitate multi-State comparisons and analyses. The SID are based on data from short term, acute care, nonfederal hospitals. Some States include discharges from specialty facilities, such as acute psychiatric hospitals. The SID include all patients, regardless of payer, e.g., persons covered by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and the uninsured. The SID contain clinical and resource use information included in a typical discharge abstract, with safeguards to protect the privacy of individual patients, physicians, and hospitals (as required by data sources). Data elements include but are not limited to: diagnoses, procedures, admission and discharge status, patient demographics (e.g., gender, age), total charges, length of stay, and expected payment source (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, self-pay; for some States, additional discrete payer categories, such as managed care). In addition to the core set of uniform data elements common to all SID, some include State-specific data elements, such as the patient's race. The SID exclude data elements that could directly or indirectly identify individuals. For some States, hospital and county identifiers are included that permit linkage to the American Hospital Association Annual Survey File and the Area Resource File.
