Description
Benthic organism and other data were collected from a pipe drege in the Gulf of Alaska and other locations from the MILLER FREEMAN and other platforms by University of Alaska; Institute of Marine Science (UAK/IMS). Data were collected as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP) from 01 April 1976 to 29 October 1976. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F132 Benthic Organism format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f132.txt. The F132 format contains data from field sampling or surveys of bottom dwelling marine organisms. The data provide information on species abundance, distribution, and biomass; they may have been collected by point sampling (grab or core), by tow (dredge, trawl or net), by photographic surveys, or by other methods. Cruise information such as vessel, start and end dates, investigator, and institution/agency; station numbers, positions and times; and equipment and methods are reported for each survey. Environmental data reported at each sampling site may include meteorological and sea surface conditions; surface and bottom temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen; and sediment characteristics. Number of individual organisms and total weight of organisms is reported for each species. A text record is available for comments.

This data set consists of land derived from high resolution imagery and was analyzed according to the Coastal Change Analysis Program (C-CAP) protocol to determine land cover. Description
OSTM/JASON-2 is a follow-on mission continuing the TOPEX/Poseidon and Jason-1, and is designed to ensure continuity of high quality measurements for ocean science and to provide operational products for assimilation and forecasting applications. The Jason-2 satellite was launched on 20 June 2008 and reached its nominal repetitive orbit on 4 July 2008. The NODC Jason-2 data collection includes: Level-2 Geophysical Data Records (GDRs), NODC Accession 0043269; Ancillary Files, NODC Accession 0044982; Auxiliary Files, NODC Accession 0044983; Near Real-Time Altimetry Validation System (NRTAVS) QA Reports, NODC Accession 0044984; Orbital Information, NODC Accession 0044985; and Telemetry, NODC Accession 0044986. Metadata in ISO 19115-2 format is filed under the documentation accession 0118276 at the NODC in .xml format. The level-2 X-GDR are available as 3 datatypes - Operational Geophysical Data Records (OGDR), Interim Geophysical Data Records (IGDR) and final Geophysical Data Records (GDR). The OGDRs are near-real-time records and are generated every 3-5 hours. They are based on orbits from DORIS propagator and forecast meteorological fields for the geophysical corrections. The IGDRs are based on preliminary DORIS ephemeris, analyzed meteorological grids, and preliminary auxiliary data files. The IGDRs have a latency of 1 - 2 days. The S-IGDR is a superset of the IGDR, containing the original radar echo waveform data. The GDRs are based on final high-precision DORIS (perhaps combined with GPS) ephemeris, final meteorological grids, ancillary and auxiliary data files. The S-GDR is a superset of the GDR, containing the waveform data. The S-GDRs are generated every 10 days. Sea Surface Height Anomaly (SSHA) files are available for IGDR and GDR. All files are available in NetCDF format and the OGDRs are also available in BUFR format. Ancillary data files are used to generate Level-2 products. They include both static tabular data files and dynamic files which change/grow over time. They are mission specific files used in the production of Level-2 products. All members of the Ancillary data family (J2-ANC) were made unrestricted on 15 December, 2008. Orbital files are produced by CNES for offline (IGDR, GDR) data production. For GPSP1, intermediate level-1 data files are in RINEX format and from the Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and are used to compute precise GPS orbits for the spacecraft. For TLE - Two Line Element files are used to determine the position and velocity of the satellite. For MOE and POE, medium-precision and precision orbital ephemeris files are from the DORIS system. All members of the Orbital Information family were made unrestricted on 15 December, 2008. Auxiliary data files are used to generate Level-2 products. They include both static tabular data files and dynamic files which change/grow over time. Auxiliary files are produced outside of OSTM but are used in the production of Level-2 products. Filetypes in the Auxiliary data family (J2-AUX) which are produced by the European Center for Medium range Weather Forecasting (ECMWF) are restricted by ECMWF to the Jason-2 project team. The telemetry dataset consists of raw Level-0 telemetry data from the Jason-2 spacecraft. There are three datatypes available: Housekeeping Telemetry - Recorded (HKTM-R) is stored on the spacecraft for later downlink; Payload Telemetry 1 (PLTM-1) is the payload science data from the core-mission payloads - Poseidon-3, DORIS, AMR, and GPSP; and Payload Telemetry 2 (PLTM-2) is the payload science data from the passenger mission of opportunity payloads: CARMEN-2, L2T2 and LPT. They are available as CCSDS packet files. All telemetry data (J2-TEL) are restricted to the project team, per the mission's 4-partner Memorandum of Understanding. For restricted data families, users will only see listed those datatypes upon which they can search. Quality reports are from the Near Real-Time Altimetry Validation System. Reports are daily and cover the previous 10-day period.

Description
Bathythermograph data were collected from the ROCKAWAY within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station C (5245N 0350W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 04 November 1965 to 30 November 1965. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.
