Description
Temperature profiles were collected from XBT casts from the SURVEYOR from the North Pacific Ocean. Data were collected by the National Ocean Service (NOS) as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP) from 07 June 1977 to 11 June 1977. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data records are comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. The XBT data files contain temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points (''inflection points'') required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. Special instruments permit measurements to be obtained to 1830 m.

Description
We have been using and continue to use acoustic telemetry methods to monitor the movement behavior and define habitat use of groundfish species in and out of Puget Sound waters. Detections of individual fishes has been collected at small and large scales over short and long term periods. We have data on sixgill and sevengill sharks, spiny dogfish, lingcod, copper, quillback, yellowtail and black rockfish, and spotted ratfish. These data are being used to describe the spatio-temporal patterns of behaviors expressed by top predators and other important members of the groundfish community in Puget Sound and along the West Coast. We intend for this information to inform the strength of inter- and intra-specific interactions quantified by ecosystem-scale models as well as the development of models used to determine the efficacy of spatial management strategies such as Marine Protected Areas. This has been a research topic since 2003, and will continue with work on listed species such as yelloweye and canary rockfish. Acoustic telemetry data for sixgill sharks

Description
The purpose of this project is to develop spatially discrete end-to-end models of the northern Gulf of California, linking oceanography, biogeochemistry, food web interactions, habitat, fisheries, economics, monitoring, and management into a common model framework. This framework allows for thought experiments, including evaluation of alternate management strategies, identifying robust indicators, and assessing relative importance of different ecosystem drivers in regulating important processes. NMFS personnel are conducting this work in broad collaboration with a consortium of Mexican federal, state, NGO and academic scientists. The specific work entails model development, scoping issues with stakeholders and policy makers, running scenarios, and analyzing and writing up the results. Products include peer-reviewed papers, presentations, and workshops with modelers and/or stakeholders. Management audiences include Mexican governmental bodies and conservation organizations. NODC accession 0089624 includes physical and underway data collected aboard the ROGER REVELLE during cruise RR0903 in the Indian Ocean and South Atlantic Ocean from 2009-03-20 to 2009-05-13. These data include CURRENT SPEED - EAST/WEST COMPONENT (U) and CURRENT SPEED - NORTH/SOUTH COMPONENT (V). The instruments used to collect these data include ADCP and GPS. These data were collected by James Swift of SCRIPPS INSTITUTION OF OCEANOGRAPHY and SCRIPPS INSTITUTION OF OCEANOGRAPHY as part of Global Ocean Repeat Hydrography, Carbon, and Tracer Measurements. The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) submitted these data to NODC as part of the NSF sponsored Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program. Meteorological, oceanographic, wave spectra, and other data were collected from FIXED PLATFORMS in the North Atlantic Ocean and other locations. Data were collected by the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) from 01 April 1989 to 30 April 1989. Data were processed by NODC to the standard NODC F291-Meteorology, Oceanography, and Wave Spectra from Buoys format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f291.html. Links to digital data are not available at this time. An analog file is available from NODC user services. The F291 format is used to report meteorological, oceanographic, and wave spectra data from NDBC moored buoys and fixed land stations. The format contains thirteen data record types to: 1) Identify the buoy position and other descriptive information; 2) report the meteorological measurements; 3) report wave energy spectra and wave direction; 4) report subsurface physical, biological and chemical oceanographic measurements; and 5) report detailed information on continuously measured wind speed and direction. Each record is 120 characters in length, sorted by station and record type. Record type is omitted where data defined in that type and not measured. The first nine columns for all records are to be used for file type (columns 1-3) and file identifier (columns 4-9). The file identifier, assigned by the originator, is a unique originator id for each data submission. After submission, the NODC reassigns to this field a unique and NODC identifier for internal use.

Data were submitted by Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) as part of the Equatorial Pacific Ocean Climate Studies (EPOCS) project. NODC Accession 0120634 contains raw underway meteorological, navigational, physical and time series data logged by the Scientific Computer System (SCS) aboard the NOAA Ship Hi'ialakai in the North Pacific Ocean from 2014-07-15 to 2014-07-23. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) personnel aboard the ship submitted these data and associated metadata to NODC. In addition, NODC Accession 0120634 contains supplementary cruise-level metadata, which OMAO personnel logged in the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL). OMAO and NODC personnel developed the automated process to archive these data under the auspices of the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (NOAA R2R) program.

The UBT format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. Unlike the MBT Data File, in which temperature values were recorded at uniform 5 m intervals, the XBT data files contained temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points (''inflection points'') required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m.
