Bathythermograph data were collected from the CUMULUS within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station A (6200N 03300W), J (5230N 02000W), K (4500N 01600W), M (6600N 00200E), and in transit. Data were collected by the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute from 20 August 1971 to 11 December 1972. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.

Water physics and chemistry data were collected from bottle casts from the MICMAC Stanford R/V from 28 January 1970 to 21 April 1970. Data were submitted by the State University of New York - Stony Brook (SUNY). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F004 Water Physics and Chemistry format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f004.html. The F004 format is used for data from measurements and analyses of physical and chemical characteristics of the water column. Among chemical parameters that may be recorded are salinity, PH, and concentration of oxygen, ammonia, nitrate, phosphate, chlorophyll, and suspended solids. Physical parameters that may be recorded include temperature, density (sigma-t), transmissivity, and current velocity (east-west and north-south components). Cruise and station information, including environmental conditions of the study site at the time of observations, is also included.

This data set contains points that represent the following sensitive human-use socioeconomic sites in Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Washington: access locations, airports, aquaculture sites, archaeological sites, artificial reefs, beaches, boat ramps, U.S. Coast Guard stations, dive sites, spill response equipment storage sites, ferry terminals, hatcheries, hazardous waste sites, locks and dams, marinas, and parks. Also included are lines that represent the international boundary, bridges, and ferry routes. Location-specific type and source information is stored in relational data tables (described below) designed to be used in conjunction with this spatial data layer.This data set comprises a portion of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for Puget Sound and Strait of Juan de Fuca, Washington. ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. See also the MGT (Management Area Polygons) data layer, part of the larger Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca ESI database, for additional human-use information.

Oceanographic Station Data were collected from bottle casts in the South Pacific Ocean from the CARLOS PORTE. Data were collected from 27 November 1980 to 18 December 1982. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5 percent) were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data. Cruise information (e.g., ship, country, institution), position, date, and time, and reported for each station. The principal measured parameters and temperature and salinity, but dissolved oxygen, phosphate, total phosphorus, silicate, nitrate, nitrite, and pH may be reported. Meteorological conditions at the time of the cast (e.g., air temperature and pressure, wind, waves) may also be reported, as well as auxiliary data such as water color (Forel-Ule scale), water transparency (Secchi disk depth), and depth to bottom. Values of density (sigma-t), sound velocity, and dynamic depth anomaly are computed from measured parameters. Each station contains the measurements taken at the observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels.

Stationary Point Counts at 4 stations at each survey site were surveyed as part of Rapid Ecological Assessments (REA) conducted at 1 sites around Aguijan in the Marianas Archipelago (MA) during 12 - 22 May 2007 in the NOAA Hi'ialakai (HI0702) Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program (RAMP) Cruise. Raw survey data included species level abundance estimates.

Data set contains 2.5km by 2.5km digital orthophotography mosaics. The digital orthophotos in this series have a nominal ground resolution of 1 meter. The digital orthophoto mosaics are three band, 8-bit GeoTIFFs with pyramids and are color balanced to be uniform while still maintaining as much of the original color and appearance as practical. The source imagery was flown on February 6-7, 2010 with a WILD camera with a focal length of 153.28mm. The film was captured by NOAA at a negative scale of 1" = 2,500' or a nominal scale of 1:30,000. Aerotriangulation was performed in BINGO as full bundle block adjustments. The project area extends from Big Lagoon to Navaree Beach and includes Pensacola Bay, Escambia Bay, and East Bay; as well as portions of Santa Rosa Sound, and Santa Rosa Island and various small bays and tributaries to the bays.

Temperature profile and other data were collected using CTD casts from the NOAA Ship RESEARCHER in the SE Pacific Ocean from 12 June 1984 to 30 June 1984. Data were collected by the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) in Miami, Florida with support from the Equatorial Pacific Ocean Climate Studies (EPOCS) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard High-Resolution STD/CTD Data (F022) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f022.html. The F022 format contains high-resolution data collected using CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) and STD (salinity-temperature-depth) instruments. As they are lowered and raised in the oceans, these electronic devices provide nearly continuous profiles of temperature, salinity, and other parameters. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering or obtained by interpolation and may be reported at depth intervals as fine as 1m. Cruise and instrument information, position, date, time and sampling interval are reported for each station. Environmental data at the time of the cast (meteorological and sea surface conditions) may also be reported. The data record comprises values of temperature, salinity or conductivity, density (computed sigma-t), and possibly dissolved oxygen or transmissivity at specified depth or pressure levels. These data represent data collected from the Shipboard Environmental (data) Acquisition System (SEAS), a program developed by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide accurate meteorological and oceanographic data in real time from ships at sea through the use of satellite data transmission techniques. The system transmits data through either the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) or the International Maritime Satellite Organization (INMARSAT C) satellites to NOAA for use in weather, climatological and ocean models. NOAA is actively participating in an international effort to increase the number of subsurface temperature observations in support of global oceanographic and climate studies. NOAA's Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) program, SEAS, currently supports about 80 Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS). SEAS XBT data are archived by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) on a weekly basis.

Fishery survey, fishing duration and other benthic organism data from unknown and other platforms from North Atlantic Ocean was collected over four years between January 16, 1980 to March 14, 1984. The data was collected by Marine Resources Research Institute, Charleston SC as part of Living Marine Resources Study. The data was submitted by South Carolina State Wildlife and Marine Resources Department. Data has been been processed by NODC to the NODC standard SD2- Oceanographic Station Data, F123- Fish/Shellfish Survey, F124- Zooplankton Data, and F132- Benthic Organisms formats. The SD2 format is used for physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. Most of the observations were made using multi- bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5%) were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data. Cruise information, position, date and time are reported for each station. Each station contains the measurements taken at observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels. The F123 format is used for data from field sampling of marine fish and shellfish. The data derive from analysis of midwater or bottom tow catches and provide information on population density and distribution. Cruise information, position, date, time, gear type, fishing distance and duration, and number of hauls are reported for each survey. Environmental data may include meteorological conditions, surface and bottom temperature and salinity, and current direction and speed. Bottom trawl or other gear dimensions and characteristics are also reported. Catch statistics (e.g., weight, volume, number of fish per unit volume) may be reported for both total haul and for individual species. Biological characteristics of selected specimens, predator/ prey information (from stomach contents analysis), and growth data may also be included. A text record is available for comments. The F124 format is used for data from sampling and analysis of marine zooplankton. Information on zooplankton abundance, distribution, and productivity derived from these data support studies of marine populations and ecosystems. Data reported may include: cruise information, position, date, and time of sampling; bottom depth, sampling depths, temperature, and salinity; gear type, volume of water filtered, total dry and wet weight, and other data for total haul; and data for subsamples by species. Data on zooplankton catch by species may include subsample size, zooplankton concentration, life history code, and numbers of adults, juveniles, eggs, and larvae. Estimated density of holoplankton and meroplankton and data on ichthyoplankton may also be reported. A text record is available for comments. Note: there are two options for reporting subsample counts of individuals at different life history stages. If life history codes are used, only number of adults should be reported on that record. Additional separate records should then be used to report number of juveniles and so on. Alternatively, life history codes may not be used and number of adults, juveniles, and so entered in the proper fields of a single record. The F132 format contains data from field sampling or surveys of bottom dwelling marine organisms. The data provide information on species abundance, distribution, and biomass; they may have been collected by point sampling (grab or core), by tow (dredge, trawl or net), by photographic surveys, or by other methods. Cruise information such as vessel, start and end dates, investigator, and institution/agency; station numbers, positions and times; and equipment and methods are reported for each survey. Environmental data reported at each sampling site may include meteorological and sea surface conditions; surface and bottom temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen; and sediment characteristics. Data from Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED), NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) Subsurface Temperature Recorders (STR) provide a time series of water temperature at coral reef sites. Data is typically collected at 1800 second intervals for a duration of 2 years using a SBE39 Temperature Recorder (Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., www.seabird.com). When a STR is recovered, a new one is typically deployed in the same place. Time series data combining multiple deployments from a given site may also be available.
