Popis
The National Marine Fisheries Service's Northeast Fisheries Science Center conducted standardized ichthyoplankton surveys from 1977-1988 along the continental shelf between Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and Cape Sable, Nova Scotia. These data were collected as part of a comprehensive fisheries ecosystem study to identify changes in fish community structure and investigate recruitment mechanisms. During this time period 25,000 bongo samples were collected within this broad area. In this analysis, a subset of the data were used to model ichthyoplankton abundance and distribution within the Gulf of Maine from Cape Sable, Nova Scotia to southern Massachusetts. Overall, 6,406 samples were used to model abundance and distribution within a seasonal time series (Figure 3.2.1). Additionally, samples conducted within Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary were analyzed to determine species composition abundance within the Sanctuary.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has the statutory mandate to collect hydrographic data in support of nautical chart compilation for safe navigation and to provide background data for engineers, scientific, and other commercial and industrial activities. Hydrographic survey data primarily consist of water depths, but may also include features (e.g. rocks, wrecks), navigation aids, shoreline identification, and bottom type information. NOAA is responsible for archiving and distributing the source data as described in this metadata record.

Popis
Wave spectra, meteorological, and other data were collected from FERREL and other platforms in the Chesapeake Bay. Data were collected by the National Ocean Service (NOS) from 14 March 1983 to 22 November 1983. Data has been processed by NODC to the standard NODC F191-Meteorology and Wave Spectra format. Data in this accession do not completely conform to the F191 format. Full format descriptions are available from NODC homepage at http://www.noaa.nodc.gov/. The F191 format is used to report meteorological data and ocean wave spectra data from NDBO. The format contains seven data record types to: 1) identify the buoy for position, duration, rate of sampling and heading, 2) identify the meteorological parameters, (temperature, pressure, weather, solar radiation, and surface waves), and 3) report time times series frequency, density and resolution of waves. Each record is 120 characters in length, sorted by station and record type.

Tables show the relationship between the congressional districts and the legal and statistical areas for which census data is tabulated. There are no tables for the one-representative states (Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming) or for the statistically equivalent areas of non-voting delegates (The District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands).

Belt transects along 3 consecutively-placed, 25m transect lines were surveyed as part of Rapid Ecological Assessments conducted at 4 sites at Uracas in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) in August, 2003 from the NOAA vessel Oscar Elton Sette (OES03-07). Raw survey data included species level abundance estimates.

Oceanographic station data were collected from the DUANE within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station H (3800N 07100W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) from 10 February 1974 to 25 February 1974. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Station Data II Output Format (SD2). Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/sd2.html. The SD2 format contains physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5 percent) were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data. Cruise information (e.g., ship, country, institution), position, date, and time, and reported for each station. The principal measured parameters and temperature and salinity , but dissolved oxygen, phosphate, total phosphorus, silicate, nitrate, nitrite, and pH may be reported. Meteorological conditions at the time of the cast (e.g., air temperature and pressure, wind, waves) may also be reported, as well as auxiliary data such as water color (Forel-Ule scale), water transparency (Secchi disk depth), and depth to bottom. Values of density (sigma-t) sound velocity, and dynamic depth anomaly are computed from measured parameters. Each station contains the measurements taken at the observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels.
Real-time profile data assembled by Canada Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) for the Global Temperature-Salinity Profile Program (GTSPP) and submitted the week of 1/29/2007 (NODC Accession 0012970)
