Popis

This project assesses one risk factor and one data gap identified for the Southern Resident killer whale (SRKW) population: 1. This project investigates if and how vessel presence and behavior impacts the behavior of SRKW in their core summer critical habitat. 2. This project investigates SRKW habitat use patterns to determine if there are specific geographic regions in their core summer critical habitat where critical behaviors (such as foraging and resting) occur. This project results in several distinct products, each with different sets of external collaborators. Dawn Noren is the principle investigator from the Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC), is responsible for project oversight, and is the lead on all but one of the products from this project. This project is a one-time project that addresses one risk factor and one data gap identified for SRKW. Killer whale response to noise
