Popis

This Environmental Assessment for Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge formerly Walnut Creek National Wildlife Refuge provides background information about the Refuge and the hunting plan. It addresses issues and concerns relating to the plan such as deer populations, hunting safety, and funding. Hunting permits and licenses are also discussed. A list of alternatives to the hunting plan are proposed including no action, opening the refuge to whitetailed deer hunting only, and implementation of the interim hunting plan. Environmental impacts are discussed for each alternative. The EA indicates that the hunting plan will cause no significant impacts. The Finding of No Significant Impact FONSI is included.
