Popis
This report summarizes the findings of a research program focused on the effects of petroleum development. Field studies were conducted from 1975 to 1978 on the status and distribution of populations, reproductive ecology, and trophic relationships of marine birds in the Gulf of Alaska and southern Bering Sea. The main objective of this report is to summarize information on the diets of 39 species of marine birds, based on data pooled from all seasons and geographic areas studied. Secondary objectives are to describe food web relationships in selected, phylogeneticallyrelated groups of birds based on the pooled data, and as data allow, to compare the diets of birds by season and geographic region. A description of the diets of the birds is emphasized, and more detailed analyses and interpretation will be published in the scientific literature. The methods used and the results are discussed.
