Popis

1) The purpose of this project is to examine how a variety of contaminants (urban stormwater, legacy compounds, pesticides, etc.) affect the growth and behavior of juvenile salmon and their macroinvertebrate prey. This is the "eco" in ecotoxicology. 2) Work is performed primarily by Kate Macneale (NWFSC term employee), but this large and diverse set of studies and experiments also involve other NWFSC FTEs, other terms, contractors and staff from collaborating agencies. 3) Work includes experiments done in mesocosms in the field and lab as well as surveys done in urban streams and in the Columbia River. 4) Specific products include manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals as well as analyses used in Biological Opinions. 5) Specific audiences include (but are not limited to) local and county managers, the regional office, other agency and academic scientists. 6) Project is ongoing. 7) This description covers multiple stand-alone projects. 8) Completion deadlines for different aspects of this project are soft. Field survey data: habitat unit descriptions, hourly water temperatures, coho salmon and cutthroat trout capture records, tagging and measurement records for repeated surveys, stomach contents from fish diet samples
