Popis

This data set reports the results of soil nitric oxide (NO) flux, soil moisture, and soil nitrate (NO3) and ammonium (NH4) concentration measurements on Cerrado soils receiving nitrogen fertilization. Measurements and samples were collected from control and fertillized experimental plots on Cerrado soils within the Ecological Reserve of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistic (IBGE), Brasilia, Brazil. Sampling dates were from March 26, 2004 to November 25, 2004. The soils had received nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization treatments which began in 1998. The objective of this project was to determine the long-term effects of nutrient addition (N and N+P) in native Cerrado area on N oxide fluxes from soil to the atmosphere. There is one comma delimited (.csv) ASCII file with this data set.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has the statutory mandate to collect hydrographic data in support of nautical chart compilation for safe navigation and to provide background data for engineers, scientific, and other commercial and industrial activities. Hydrographic survey data primarily consist of water depths, but may also include features (e.g. rocks, wrecks), navigation aids, shoreline identification, and bottom type information. NOAA is responsible for archiving and distributing the source data as described in this metadata record.

Popis

NOAA's Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary (GFNMS) Beach Watch Program, administered by the Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association (FMSA), is a long-term monitoring program operating within GFNMS and NOAA's Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary along the California coast. An objective of the program is to develop baseline information on the organisms inhabiting the sanctuaries and on the physical characteristics of the sanctuaries. To achieve this objective, Beach Watch volunteers have taken photographic slides of animals (both alive and dead) and beach profiles during surveys of over fifty sanctuary beaches every two to four weeks since 1993. As part of a "data rescue" effort, GFNMS, FMSA, and NOAA's National Oceanographic Data Center and Climate Database Modernization Program have sponsored a project to scan Beach Watch's photographic slides and create high-resolution TIFF and Web-accessible JPEG images for the public. This collection is part of the project, which Jan Roletto of GFNMS coordinated for FMSA, and it contains images from surveys of Doran Beach (segment 1-06), California from 2003-08-03 to 2004-05-23.

The Knudsen 2620 acquired sub-bottom profiles continuously throughout the cruise. The Knudsen was operated in 3.5 kHz Chirp mode, emitting a 1.5 kHz to 5 kHz (3 kHz bandwidth centered on 3.5 kHz) pulse from transducers mounted in the pod beneath the hull. A record window of 200 meters and assumed sound velocity of 1500 m/s remained constant through the cruise. The resulting data records were 267 msec long, with a sample interval 0.16667 msec (6 kHz). The ping rate varied over the course of the cruise. For most of the first two weeks, the ping rate was approximately 5 seconds. On or about June 23, the ping rate was increased to approximately 2 seconds.

Popis

MAMS is a multispectral scanner which measures reflected radiation from the Earth's surface and clouds in eight visible/near-infrared bands, and thermal emission from the Earth' surface, clouds, and atmospheric constituents (primarily water vapor) in four infrared bands. The 5.0 mRaperture of MAMS produces an instantaneous field-of-view (IFOV) resolution of 100 m at nadir from the nominal ER-2 altitude of 20 km. The width of the entire cross path field-of-view scanned by the sensor is 37 km, thereby providing detailed resolution of atmospheric and surface features across the swath width and along the aircraft flight track. For clouds and thunderstorm features the IFOV decreases with increasing cloud height by a factor of (Z-20)/20, where Z is the cloud height in kilometers.

Temperature profile data were collected using XBT and BT casts from the NOAA Ship RESEARCHER and other platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and Northwest Atlantic Ocean from 08 January 1987 to 01 July 1987. Data were collected by the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) Miami, Florida and other institutions with support from the Equatorial Pacific Ocean Climate Studies (EPOCS) and SubTropical Atlantic Climate Studies (STACS) projects. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles at depths of about 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Cruise information, position, date, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT data file, in which temperature values are recorded at uniform 5m intervals, the XBT Data File contains temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths are at a minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to record the temperature curve to an acceptable degree of accuracy. On output, however, the user may request temperature values either at inflection points or interpolated to uniform depth increments.

These data represent data collected from the Shipboard Environmental (data) Acquisition System (SEAS), a program developed by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide accurate meteorological and oceanographic data in real time from ships at sea through the use of satellite data transmission techniques. The system transmits data through either the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) or the International Maritime Satellite Organization (INMARSAT C) satellites to NOAA for use in weather, climatological and ocean models. NOAA is actively participating in an international effort to increase the number of subsurface temperature observations in support of global oceanographic and climate studies. NOAA's Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) program, SEAS, currently supports about 80 Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS). SEAS XBT data are archived by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) on a weekly basis.

TASK NAME:FY 2012 GEORGIA DNR ELEVATION DATA NOAA Contract No. EA133C11CQ0010 Requisition No. NCNP0000-11-02615 Woolpert Order No. 71511 CONTRACTOR: Woolpert, Inc. The PSFY12 GADNR Elevation Data Task Order involves: collecting and delivering topographic elevation point data derived from multiple return light detection and ranging (LiDAR) measurements for portions of 4 counties in Georgia. The Statement of Work (SOW) was developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management (referred to as the Center) in partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GADNR) Environmental Protection Division (EPD). The counties included Floyd, Polk, Paulding and Oconee. The purpose of the data is for use in coastal management decision making, including applications such as flood plain mapping and water rights management. LiDAR was collected at 1.0 points per square meter (1.0m GSD) for the portions of Floyd, Polk, Paulding and Oconee Counties. This area was flown during snow free and leaf-off conditions.
