Temperature profile data were collected using bathythermograph (BT/XBT) casts from JAPAN ACE in the Pacific Ocean from February 26, 1977 to March 9, 1977. Data were submitted by Scripps Institution of Oceanography as part of the Thermal Structure Monitoring Program in the Pacific (TRANSPAC) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full BT descriptions are available at http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data record was comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT Data File, in which temperature values were recorded at uniform 5 m intervals, the XBT data files contained temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points (''inflection points'') required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m.

Oceanographic station data were collected from the HAMILTON within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station C (5245N 0352W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) from 02 July 1973 to 24 July 1973. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Station Data II Output Format (SD2). Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/sd2.html. The SD2 format contains physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5 percent) were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data. Cruise information (e.g., ship, country, institution), position, date, and time, and reported for each station. The principal measured parameters and temperature and salinity , but dissolved oxygen, phosphate, total phosphorus, silicate, nitrate, nitrite, and pH may be reported. Meteorological conditions at the time of the cast (e.g., air temperature and pressure, wind, waves) may also be reported, as well as auxiliary data such as water color (Forel-Ule scale), water transparency (Secchi disk depth), and depth to bottom. Values of density (sigma-t) sound velocity, and dynamic depth anomaly are computed from measured parameters. Each station contains the measurements taken at the observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels.

Sediment Data Analytical results for sediment samples collected from the unnamed creek and clean Delaware background areas are compared to ERM levels in Table 1. The ERM is the 50th percentile concentration associated with adverse biological effects Long and Morgan 1990. The ERM is defined as the concentration above which toxic effects usually or frequently occur. Concentrations of all metals detected in the unnamed creek sediment samples were less than ERM levels Long and Morgan 1990 Table 1. Two of four sediment samples from the unnamed creek contained p,pDDD concentrations that exceeded the ERM value of 0.020 ppm. Because no DDE or DDT were found in sediments, the ERM for total DDT the sum of DDT, DDD, and DDE of 0.35 ppm was not exceeded. The mean concentration for the two samples with detectable levels of p,pDDD was 0.057 ppm. While total PAHs did not exceed the ERM value, one naturally occurring PAH, perylene, was found to exceed apparent effects thresholds AET for amphipods 0.23 ppm and bivalve larvae 0.095 ppm Long and Morgan 1990. The AET is a concentration above which statistically significant biological effects always occur. The mean perylene concentration was 0.341 ppm with two out of four samples exceeding the amphipod AET and all four samples exceeding the bivalve larvae AET. There is no ERM value for perylene at this time.

Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 18 April 1965 to 13 May 1965. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.

This data set includes data collected from 1996-2000 and covers the states of AL,FL,LA,MS,DE,MD,VA,CT,MA,ME,NH, NJ,NY,RI,NC,SC,GA,CA OR,WA,TX OH,PA. Laser beach mapping uses a pulsed laser ranging system mounted onboard an aircraft to measure ground elevation and coastal topography. The laser emits laser beams at high frequency and is directed downward at the earth's surface through a port opening in the bottom of the aircraft's fuselage. The laser system records the time difference between emission of the laser beam and the reception of the reflected laser signal in the aircraft. The aircraft travels over the beach at approximately 60 meters per second while surveying from the low water line to the landward base of the sand dunes.

This program, which collects length and weight frequency data for whole commercial catches, and samples 4-8 species for in-depth life history studies as well as DNA (finclips) and voucher specimens for the Fish Barcode of life, began in Aug 2009 at Guam. Guam has had very little market-based commercial size sampling over the years. However, the new bio-sampling program has been quite successful and robust, due to the cooperation and participation of the Guam Fishermen's Cooperative Assn. Census sampling of a high percentage of the non-pelagic fishing trips has been conducted since late 2009. As with the other CFBS programs, catch, effort, and fishing location are recorded for a majority of the fishing trips and every fish or invertebrate harvested is identified, measured and weighed for each fishing method encountered with the exception of trolling. Life history samples are also collected and processed for a number of reef fish species. These data are considered confidential. Continuation subject to availability of funds.
