Popis
This data set consists of digital aquifer boundaries for the alluvial and terrace deposits along the Beaver-North Canadian River from the panhandle to Canton Lake in northwestern Oklahoma. Ground water in 830 square miles of the Quaternary-age alluvial and terrace aquifer is an important source of water for irrigation, industrial, municipal, stock, and domestic supplies. The aquifer consists of poorly sorted, fine to coarse, unconsolidated quartz sand with minor amounts of clay, silt, and basal gravel. The hydraulically connected alluvial and terrace deposits unconformably overlie the Tertiary-age Ogallala Formation and Permian-age formations. The aquifer boundaries established in a ground-water flow model for the aquifer include areas: 1) where the terrace deposits pinch out against relatively impermeable Permian-age formations; 2) where the alluvium has been deposited against relatively impermeable Permian-age formations; 3) where the alluvial and terrace deposits have been eroded and underlying Permian-age formations are exposed at the surface; 4) where the aquifer extends beyond the geographic limit of the study area; and 5) where the aquifer has little or no saturated thickness. The lines in the data set representing aquifer boundaries along geological contacts were extracted from a published digital surficial geology data set based on a scale of 1:250,000. The geographic limits of the aquifer and areas of little or no saturated thickness were digitized from a folded paper map, at a scale of 1:250,000 from a ground-water modeling report.

File 100-003b is a 60-m ASCII grid of depth data collected near south Pioneer Bank in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands as of May 2003. This grid has been produced as part of the "Bathymetric Atlas of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands -- A Planning Document for Benthic Habitat Mapping -- Draft -- May 2003. Data sources for the downloadable grids include: multibeam bathymetry from Simrad EM1002 and EM120 sonars aboard the R/V Kilo Moana collected in October/November 2003; multibeam bathymetry data from a SeaBeam 210 sonar aboard the R/V Kai'imikai-O-Kanaloa collected in 2000-2002; LIDAR data obtained using the LADS MK II lidar system; and depth data derived from IKONOS satellite imagery. No tidal corrections have been applied to the data. The data source location for each type of data is indicated in the "dot plot" browse objects. Additional single-beam bathymetric data are available in this area and are indicated on the 100-003b Plot C browse object, but these less accurate depths are not included in the downloadable grid. Multibeam data were processed using SABER editing software and MBSystem and multibeam, LIDAR and IKONOS data were integrated using MBSystem, and GMT. Grid spacing is 60-m, horizontal accuracy is 20m (no differential GPS correctors applied), vertical accuracy is depth dependent (~1% of water depth), WGS84 datum. These data are not to be used for navigation.

XBT data were collected from the USCGC SHERMAN in support of the Integrated Global Ocean Services System (IGOSS) project. Data were collected by the US Coast Guard (USCG) from 15 December 1977 to 17 December 1977. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles at depths of about 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Cruise information, position, date, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT data file, in which temperature values are recorded at uniform 5m intervals, the XBT Data File contains temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths are at a minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to record the temperature curve to an acceptable degree of accuracy. On output, however, the user may request temperature values either at inflection points or interpolated to uniform depth increments.

This project is a cooperative effort between the National Ocean Service, National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment, the University of Hawaii, and Analytical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLC. The goal of the work was to develop coral reef mapping methods and compare benthic habitat maps generated by photointerpreting georeferenced color aerial photography, hyperspectral and IKONOS satellite imagery. The enhanced spectral resolution of hyperspectral and control of bandwidths of multispectral data yield an advantage over color aerial photography particularly when coral health and time series analysis of coral reef community structure are of interest. Depending on the type of instrument, a spectral imaging system can be utilized to see multiple colors from ultraviolet through the far infrared range. The AURORA hyperspectral imaging system collected 72 ten nm bands in the visible and near infrared spectral range with a 3 meter pixel resolution. The data was processed to select band widths, which optimized feature detection in shallow and deep water. Photointerpreters can accurately and reliably delineate boundaries of features in the imagery as they appear on the computer monitor using a software interface such as the Habitat Digitizer.

These data were created as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's efforts to create an online mapping viewer called the Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer. It depicts potential sea level rise and its associated impacts on the nation's coastal areas. The purpose of the mapping viewer is to provide coastal managers and scientists with a preliminary look at sea level rise (slr) and coastal flooding impacts. The viewer is a screening-level tool that uses nationally consistent data sets and analyses. Data and maps provided can be used at several scales to help gauge trends and prioritize actions for different scenarios. The Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer may be accessed at: http://www.coast.noaa.gov/slr This metadata record describes the digital elevation model (DEM), which is a part of a series of DEMs produced for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer described above. The DEMs created for this project were developed using the NOAA National Weather Service's Weather Forecast Office (WFO) boundaries. This DEM includes the best available data known to exist at the time of DEM creation that met project specifications for the San Juan, PR WFO, which includes the coastlines of Puerto Rico. For Puerto Rico, the DEM was derived from: 1. 2004 US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise (JALBTCX) Puerto Rico Lidar, collected January 10 - February 8, 2004, vertical accuracy is 18.6 cm Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) 2. For Puerto Rico, the hydrographic breaklines were delineated from the lidar intensity imagery generated from the lidar datasets and additional imagery that matched the years of the lidar. The DEMs are hydro flattened such that water elevations are less than or equal to 0 meters. The DEM is referenced vertically to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) with vertical units of meters and horizontally to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). The resolution of the DEM is approximately 10 meters.
