Stationary Point Counts at 4 stations at each survey site were surveyed as part of Rapid Ecological Assessments (REA) conducted at 6 sites around Niihau in the Main Hawaiian Islands (MHI) during July 27 - August 20 2006 in the NOAA Hi'ialakai (HI0610) Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program (RAMP) Cruise. Raw survey data included species level abundance estimates.
Environmental Contaminants Monitoring in Selected Wetlands of Wyoming: Biologically Active Elements Study

Sediment, water and biota were collected from selected wetlands in Wyoming for the Biologically Active Elements BAE Study in 1988, 1989 and 1990 to identify contaminant problems that may warrant further study. This report also will assist in developing a comprehensive contaminants monitoring program for the state and will provide baseline contaminants data for wetland areas. Sites surveyed included areas affected by historical and current mining; wetlands receiving oilfield or oil refinery discharges; wetlands receiving irrigation return flows; stock ponds and natural depressions in areas with seleniferous soil and wetlands influenced by urban runoff. Monitoring is recommended for wetlands receiving oilfield produced waters and agricultural return flows. An intensive study is necessary to determine the impacts of oilfield produced waters and breeding aquatic birds. Areas with intensive agriculture, such as the Greybull River Valley and Bighorn Basin, require periodic monitoring to determine if return flows and or pesticide applications are adversely impacting migratory birds. Land management agencies proposing to develop wetlands in areas underlain with Cretaceous shale should be made aware of the selenium hazards to fish and wildlife.

Temperature profiles were collected from XBT casts from the OREGON II from 02 May 1973 to 09 June 1973. Data were collected by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) as part of the Marine Resources Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction (MARMAP) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data records are comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. The XBT data files contain temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points (''''inflection points'''') required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of 450 m or 760 m. Special instruments permitted measurements to 1830 m.

These data represent data collected from the Shipboard Environmental (data) Acquisition System (SEAS), a program developed by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide accurate meteorological and oceanographic data in real time from ships at sea through the use of satellite data transmission techniques. The system transmits data through either the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) or the International Maritime Satellite Organization (INMARSAT C) satellites to NOAA for use in weather, climatological and ocean models. NOAA is actively participating in an international effort to increase the number of subsurface temperature observations in support of global oceanographic and climate studies. NOAA's Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) program, SEAS, currently supports about 80 Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS). SEAS XBT data are archived by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) on a weekly basis.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Western Region Coastal and Marine Geology Team deployed six NIWA Dobie-A non-directional wave gauges at five nearshore stations south of Molokai, Hawaii in depths from 4 to 13 meters during February 2001 - February 2002. The USGS team collected hourly significant wave height and dominant wave period data with the gauges and they provided the data in an ASCII format.

This metadata is for the field data associated with the vegetation land cover and land use geospatial database for Badlands National Park and surrounding areas. The project is authorized as part of the USGS/NPS Vegetation Mapping Program http://biology.usgs.gov/npsveg. The program is being administered by the Biological Resources Division (BRD) of the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The USGS/BRD is responsible for overall management and oversight of all ongoing mapping efforts. This mapping effort was performed by the US Bureau of Reclamation's (USBR) Remote Sensing and GIS Group, Technical Service Center, Denver, CO. MBT data were collected from the USS LUCID in support of the Fleet Observations of Oceanographic Data (FLOOD) project. Data were collected by US Navy; Ships of Opportunity from 06 April 1963 to 01 May 1963. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.
