NODC Accession 0115222 includes fish examination and biological data collected aboard the PANDALUS during cruises PA0001, PA0101, PA0102, PA0103, PA0104, PA0201, PA0202, PA0203, PA0301, PA0302, PA0303, PA0401, PA0402, PA0403, PA9701, PA9801, PA9802, PA9901 and PA9902 in the Gulf of Alaska from 1997-10-10 to 2004-09-17. These data include INDIVIDUAL FISH EXAMINATION - LENGTH, SPECIES IDENTIFICATION and SPECIES IDENTIFICATION - LIFE STAGE. The instruments used to collect these data include trawl and seine. These data were collected by Jack Piccolo of University of Alaska Fairbanks as part of NEP. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NODC on 2013-10-31. Belt transects along 3 consecutively-placed, 25m transect lines were surveyed as part of Rapid Ecological Assessments conducted at 5 sites at Tinian in the Marianas Archipelago (MA) during 12 - 22 May 2007 in the NOAA Hi'ialakai (HI0702) Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program (RAMP) Cruise. Raw survey data included species level abundance estimates.

Temperature profiles were collected from XBT casts from the CHEROKEE from 22 April 1980. Data were collected by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) as part of the Marine Resources Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction (MARMAP) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data records are comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. The XBT data files contain temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points (''''inflection points'''') required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of 450 m or 760 m. Special instruments permitted measurements to 1830 m.

Post-cruise download of raw data from shipboard computer(s) as furnished by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Shipboard Scientific Support Group and archived by the Marine Biological Laboratory Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Library for the R/V Oceanus - Cruise 437 Leg 07. These data are part of a collection of ocean observation data from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution ships OCEANUS (call sign WXAQ; built 1975.00; IMO 7603617), KNORR (call sign KCEJ; built 1970.00; IMO 7738618), and the ATLANTIS (call sign KAQP; built 1997.03; IMO 9105798). The data sets are the downloads of the shipboard computers after an individual cruise. As such, they contain basic raw and processed physical and meteorological data from the cruise. A data set may include XBT, CTD, and XCTD profiles, underway thermosalinograph and atmospheric measurements, gravity and magnetic field measurements, current measurements from ADCP, and still photographs from the Alvin submersible (Atlantis cruises only). Other data types (ROV, nutrients measured from bottle samples, etc.) and photographs documenting the cruise may be included.

These data represent data collected from the Shipboard Environmental (data) Acquisition System (SEAS), a program developed by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide accurate meteorological and oceanographic data in real time from ships at sea through the use of satellite data transmission techniques. The system transmits data through either the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) or the International Maritime Satellite Organization (INMARSAT C) satellites to NOAA for use in weather, climatological and ocean models. NOAA is actively participating in an international effort to increase the number of subsurface temperature observations in support of global oceanographic and climate studies. NOAA's Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) program, SEAS, currently supports about 80 Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS). SEAS XBT data are archived by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) on a weekly basis.

All marine mammals and sea turtles that were visually observed during a marine geophysical survey were recorded to: 1) determine whether a mitigation measure needed to be implemented during the survey; 2) determine the potential number of animals exposed to seismic sounds. During periods when no marine mammals were observed, the vessel location and the environmental conditions were also recorded approximately every 30 minutes whenever a Protected Species Observer was on watch (during daylight hours).

Primary productivity, nutrients, and other data were collected from bottle casts from the DISCOVERER from 21 October 1975 to 10 November 1975. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) as part of Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F029 Primary Productivity format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f029.html. An analog file for this accession is available from NODC user services. The F029 format contains data from measurements of primary productivity. The data are collected to provide information on nutrient levels and nutrient flow in offshore areas. In addition to cruise information, position, date, time, sampling depths, bottom depth, and environmental information, this file may contain measured parameters including: concentrations of nutrients such as phosphate, nitrate, silicate, and ammonia; temperature and salinity; and carbon assimilation. Measurements of chlorophyll A, phaeopigment, and carbon assimilation may be reported as integrated values. A free-text record is available for comments.

Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) maps are an integral component in oil-spill contingency planning and assessment. They serve as a source of information in the event of an oil spill incident. ESI maps contain three types of information: shoreline habitats (classified according to their sensitivity to oiling), sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. Most often, this information is plotted on 7.5 minute USGS quadrangles, although in the Alaska ESI maps, USGS topographic maps at scales of 1:63,360 and 1:250,000 are used, and in other ESI maps, NOAA charts have been used as the base map. Collections of these maps, grouped by state or a logical geographic area, are published as ESI atlases. Digital data have been published for most of the U.S. shoreline, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

Bathythermograph data were collected from the CHINCOTEAGUE within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station C (5245N 0350W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 03 October 1963 to 30 October 1963. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.

Multibeam backscatter imagery extracted from gridded bathymetry of Maro Reef, Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, USA. These data provide coverage between 20 and 5000 meters. The backscatter dataset includes data collected using Simrad EM300, Simrad EM3002d, Simrad EM120, and Reson 8101 multibeam sonars. The sonars frequencies are 30 kHz, 300 kHz, 12 kHz, and 240 kHz respectively and the backscatter data from each sonar are processed and gridded separately. These metadata are for the 30 m grid cell size Simrad em3002d multibeam backscatter data only.
