Zooplankton data were collected using net casts in the Southern Ocean from the DISCOVERY II. Data were collected from 02 January 1932 to 18 October 1951. Data were collected by P. Foxton with support from the Global Ocean Data Archaeology Rescue (GODAR) project.

The World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) was a part of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) which used resources from nearly 30 countries to make unprecedented in-situ and satellite observations of the global ocean between 1990-1998, and to observe poorly-understood but important physical processes. The Scientific Steering Group (SSG) of WOCE oversaw the scientific development and the International Project Office (IPO) managed the implementation of the Experiment. The WOCE Global Data DVD suite consists of two single-sided and double-layered DVDs. A Web browser is required to fully explore and access the DVD contents. Data on these disks cover most of the global ocean and are from the period of 1990 to 1998, the intensive observation phase of WOCE. Some data from before and after this period are also included. The WOCE data streams were: Bathymetry, Current Meters, Drifters, Hydrography, In-Situ Sea Level-Fast Delivery, In-Situ Seal Level-Delayed Mode, Profiling Floats, Satellite Sea Surface Height, Satellite Sea Surface Temperature, Satellite Surface Winds, Sea Surface Salinity, Shipboard Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers, Subsurface Floats, Surface Meteorology, and Upper Ocean Thermal. Presentations given during the WOCE and Beyond Conference are archived with this DVD prodcut, but are not part of the two DVD set.

NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) is building high-resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) for select U.S. coastal regions. These integrated bathymetric-topographic DEMs are used to support individual coastal States as part of the National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program's (NTHMP) efforts to improve community preparedness and hazard mitigation. Bathymetric, topographic, and shoreline data used in DEM compilation are obtained from various sources including: NOAA; the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS); and other federal, state, and local government agencies, academic institutions, and private companies. DEMs are referenced to the vertical datum of MHW and horizontal datum of World Geodetic System 1984 geographic (WGS 84). Grid spacing for the DEM is 1/3 arc-second (~10 meters).

Physical, meteorological, and other data were collected from XBT casts, buoys, and other instruments from a World-Wide distribution. Data were collected from 24 November 2002 to 27 December 2002. Data were submitted by the Marine Environmental Data Service (MEDS) in support of the Array for Real-time Geostrophic Oceanography (Argo), the Gulf of Mexico NOAA/NMFS Ship of Opportunity (SOOP), and the Global Temperature-Salinity Pilot Project (GTSPP). Physical parameters include profiles of temperature and salinity. Meteorological data include dry bulb temperature, wind speed, wind direction, relative humidity, and air pressure.

NODC Accession 0108230 includes chemical, meteorological, physical and underway - surface data collected from EXPLORER OF THE SEAS in the Bay of Fundy, Caribbean Sea, North Atlantic Ocean and Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary from 2010-01-14 to 2011-01-02 and retrieved during cruise 33KF20100114 (EX1001) - 33KF20101219 (EX1043). These data include BAROMETRIC PRESSURE, CARBON DIOXIDE - AIR, CARBON DIOXIDE - PARTIAL PRESSURE - DIFFERENCE, Partial pressure (or fugacity) of carbon dioxide, SALINITY and SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include Carbon dioxide (CO2) gas analyzer and Shower head chamber equilibrator for autonomous carbon dioxide (CO2) measurement. These data were collected by Rik Wanninkhof of US DOC; NOAA; OAR; Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory as part of the VOS Explorer of the Seas Lines 2010 data set. The Global Volunteer Observing Ship (VOS) Program is coordinated by the UNESCO International Ocean Carbon Coordination Project (IOCCP). International groups from 14 countries have been outfitting research ships and commercial vessels with automated CO2 sampling equipment to analyze the carbon exchange between the ocean and atmosphere.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is required under the MMPA to estimate the annual human-caused mortality and serious injury of marine mammal stocks by source. Data from documented interactions between humans and Alaska pinnipeds and cetaceans under the jurisdiction of the NMFS are compiled in this data set and details regarding each human/marine mammal interaction are reviewed for evidence of human-caused injury or mortality. Criteria are applied in order to assign injuries to categories and determine the severity (serious or non-serious). Injury determination details regarding the injury source, type, and severity are included, along with the injury category and criteria supporting the determination. Mortality and injury values are assigned (0, 1, or prorated) to each event for comparison with the calculated Potential Biological Removal levels for each stock.

This data set consists of Pelagic bird sighting data from the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska. These data were collected early in the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP), 1975 to 1979 on the RV'S DEMERSAL, HOKUSEI MARU, TUSTUMENCA, ALEUTIAN TERN, COMMANDO, MILLER FREEMAN, OSHORO MARU, SHAG and THE DISCOVERER. The data were edited by Drs. Calvin Lensink and Patrick Gould at the Fish and Wildlife Service office in Anchorage, Alaska, and submitted by Nancy Clayton from the University of Rhode Island. The data are in NODC file type F033 format.
