XBT data were collected from the USCGC ACUSHNET in support of the Integrated Global Ocean Services System (IGOSS). Data were collected by the US Coast Guard from 07 February 1978 to 09 February 1978. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles at depths of about 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Cruise information, position, date, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT data file, in which temperature values are recorded at uniform 5m intervals, the XBT Data File contains temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths are at a minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to record the temperature curve to an acceptable degree of accuracy. On output, however, the user may request temperature values either at inflection points or interpolated to uniform depth increments.

This program will utilize a well-characterized Pulsed Plasma Thruster (PPT) to test experimental high-energy extinguishable solid propellants (HE), instead of standard Teflon propellant. ET Materials LLC originally formulated this material as an environmentally friendly automotive airbag inflator propellant. In preliminary testing, the material was found suitable for use in PPTs. Electric arc discharges of the PPT apparently causes only thin surface layers of the energetic propellant to be ignited, without uncontrolled propagation to underlying propellant. The current Isp of these propellants is ~225 sec. but newer formulations appear to be reaching an Isp of 245 sec., essentially that of ammonium perchlorate propellants. The relative thrust contribution from plasma ionization and thermal expansion of non-ionized combustion gases will determine how much the energetic fuel enhances PPT performance. All testing and evaluation of the HE propellant will be conducted using the Aerojet Modular Test Unit Pulsed Plasma Thruster. This modular test unit was specifically designed to evaluate new flight configurations of the EO-1 PPT design. Using the high-energy propellant in the EO-1 PPT, should increase dramatically increase. This program will provide NASA with directly applicable results for a high-energy drop-in alternative propellant for the EO-1 PPT, providing new mission capabilities.

Description

ABSTRACT: MISR (Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer) views the sunlit Earth simultaneously at nine widely spaced and collects global images with high spatial detail in four colors at every angle. These images are carefully calibrated to provide accurate measures of the brightness, contrast, and color of reflected sunlight. The change in reflection at different view angles affords the means to distinguish different types of atmospheric particles (aerosols), cloud forms, and land surface covers. Combined with stereoscopic techniques, this enables construction of 3-dimensional models and more accurate estimates of the total amount of sunlight reflected by Earth's diverse environments.MISR was built for NASA by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. It is part of NASA's Terra spacecraft, launched into a polar orbit around the Earth on December 18, 1999.The Southern African Fire Atmosphere Research Initiative (SAFARI) 2000 field campaign focused on the smoke and gases released into the environment of southern Africa by industrial, biological, and man-made sources such as biomass burning. The area of study and MISR path numbers include Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. These MISR data cover the period August 12 through September 28, 2000.

Terrain data, as defined in FEMA Guidelines and Specifications, Appendix M: Data Capture Standards, describes the digital topographic data that was used to create the elevation data representing the terrain environment of a watershed and/or floodplain. Terrain data requirements allow for flexibility in the types of information provided as sources used to produce final terrain deliverables. This narrative report for Tewaukon National Wildlife Refuge summarizes refuge activities from May through August of 1957. The OMI/Aura Level-3 Global Gridded(0.25x0.25 deg) Nitrogen Dioxide Product "OMNO2d" is now released (Jan 10, 2013) to the public from the NASA Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center(GES DISC). The OMNO2 (Level-2) and OMNO2G (Level-2G, binned) processed earlier (in 2012) are also available from GES DISC. see http://disc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/Aura/data-holdings/OMI/ Nitrogen dioxide is an important chemical species in both, the stratosphere where it plays a key role in ozone chemistry, and in the troposphere where it is a precursor to ozone production. In the troposphere, it is produced in various combustion processes and in lightning and is an indicator of poor air quality. (The shortname for this Level-3 Global Gridded Nitrogen Dioxide Product is OMNO2d_V003) The algorithm leads for the NO2 products are NASA OMI scientist Dr. Nickolay Krotkov and KNMI scientist Dr. Pepijn Veefkind. OMNO2d data product is a Level-3 Gridded Product where pixel level data of good quality are binned and "averaged" into 0.25x0.25 degree global grids. This product contains Total column NO2 and Total Tropospheric Column NO2, for all atmospheric conditions, and for sky conditions where cloud fraction is less than 30 percent. Details are available in the documents provided on the NASA GES DISC OMI site http://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/Aura/OMI/documents/v003/omno2d_v003.shtml OMNO2d data are stored in EOS Hierarchical Data Format (HDF-EOS). Each file contains data from the day lit portion of the orbit (~14 orbits). The average file size for the OMNO2d data product is about 6 Mbytes.

Description

These GIS data contain stream reaches that were designated as "critical habitat" for the Puget Sound (PS) Chinook salmon Evolutionarily Significant Unit (ESU). The critical habitat is defined in the National Marine Fisheries Service's (NOAA Fisheries) final rule to designate critical habitat for 12 ESUs of Pacific salmon and steelhead. The fish distribution in this data set was compiled from data gathered from the the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). Additionally, we received comments from the public, federal agencies, and state and tribal salmon co-managers during the rule making process. A detailed description of this process can be found in the following document: Final Assessment of NOAA Fisheries' Critical Habitat Analytical Review Teams For 12 Evolutionarily Significant Units of Pacific Salmon and Steelhead, NOAA Fisheries Protected Resources Division, 2005. - The original source of data is 1:24,000 scale fish distribution data from WDFW. We have excluded portions of the range of the ESU from the final designation of critical habitat. Exclusions are based on economic and other relevant impacts considered during our analysis, as described in our 4(b)(2) Report. We also excluded Indian lands and Habitat Conservation Plans (HCP). However, due to legal concerns about the disclosure of the location of HCP and Indian lands, as well as questions about the accuracy of the data, we do not identify the location of these exclusions within this data set. For exact legal descriptions of critical habitat please consult the Federal Register notice.

To determine the relative needs of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Federal Highway Administration FHWA was asked to inventory all public access and administrative Service use only roads and parking lots and provide a condition assessment of each. This report summarizes the inventory for Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge.All roads and parking lots were mapped using Trimble GPS units and visually assessed for condition using the RSL method of evaluation developed at Utah State University. A cost estimate for maintenance and construction of roads is provided in the report.
