The water-budget-components geodatabase contains selected data from maps in the,"Selected Approaches to Estimate Water-Budget Components of the High Plains, 1940 through 1949 and 2000 through 2009" report (Stanton and others, 2011). Data were collected and synthesized from existing climate models including the Parameter-Elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model (PRISM) (Daly and others, 1994), and the Snow accumulation and ablation model (SNOW-17) (Anderson, 2006), and used in soil-water balance models to compute various components of a water budget. The methodologies used to compute the averages and volumes for the data in this geodatabase are slightly different for different components and models.

NODC Accession 0129829 includes physical, profile and underway data collected aboard the MELVILLE during cruise MV1215 in the North Pacific Ocean on 2012-11-03. These data include CONDUCTIVITY, CURRENT SPEED - EAST/WEST COMPONENT (U), CURRENT SPEED - NORTH/SOUTH COMPONENT (V), SALINITY and WATER TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include ADCP, CTD and GPS. These data were collected by David Checkley of University of California - San Diego; Scripps Institution of Oceanography as part of Class Cruise SIO280. The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) submitted these data to NODC as part of the NSF sponsored Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program. The ADCP data represent the raw and automated processed data set. Post processed quality assessed data are not available in this accession.

Description
Vescent Photonics propose to develop a chip-sized narrow linewidth (< 50 kHz), widely tunable (> 10 nm's) diode laser that will be suitable for a wide variety of NASA remote sensing missions. The proposed laser platform enables easy selection of the laser center wavelength; these lasers can be easily built for any wavelength that a diode laser gain chip exists (< 670 nm to > 2.5 microns). Since spectral features of important molecular species cover a large wavelength window this center-wavelength flexibility is advantageous. This effort will focus on lasers operating in the 1.57 and 2.0 micron CO2 band, and the 1.26 micron O2 band, such as is required for ASCENDS-type missions. Rapid wide wavelength tunability will enable scans over large portions of spectral bands, which can minimize the impact of contaminant and thermal effects on total column density measurement. These lasers will provide for very fast phase (up to 10 GHz) modulation and be built with space qualifiable components. Collaborative relationships with established aerospace companies will be exploited to facilitate insertion of this technology into NASA missions.

Terrain data, as defined in FEMA Guidelines and Specifications, Appendix N: Data Capture Standards, describes the digital topographic data that was used to create the elevation data representing the terrain environment of a watershed and/or floodplain. Terrain data requirements allow for flexibility in the types of information provided as sources used to produce final terrain deliverables. Once this type of data is provided, FEMA will be able to account for the origins of the flood study elevation data. (Source: FEMA Guidelines and Specifications, Appendix N, Section N.1.2). NAD83 State Plane Kentucky Single Zone FIPS 1600 is the projection and coordinate system for this project.

The Office of the National Geodetic Survey has produced a series of high-resolution gravimetric geoid models, hybrid geoid models, and associated deflection of the vertical products for the United States. The gravimetric geoid models are referred to the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS80), centered at the most recent ITRF reference frame of origin. The hybrid geoid models and associated deflection of the vertical models refer to the NAD 83 datum, and are used as a transformation between NAD 83 and NAVD 88.Major geoid products were released in 1990, 1993, 1996, 1999, and 2003. A new model is planned for 2006. Each release represents an improvement in accuracy over the previous models. The newest (2003) products are (1) USGG2003, a gravimetric geoid model, (2) GEOID03, a hybrid geoid model. USGG2003 converts between ITRF00 and an enhanced EGM96 geoid for all regions (CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands). GEOID03 converts between NAD 83 and NAVD 88 for CONUS only, and between NAD 83 and the enhanced EGM96 geoid for all other regions.Within the conterminous US, most users should use GEOID03. It is constructed specifically to relate GPS ellipsoid heights in the NAD 83 datum and orthometric heights in the NAVD 88 datum. These are the datums used in many maps and charts, and most applications require that consistency. A new model, GEOID06, will be generated this year only for Alaska to provide a transformation between NAD 83 and NAVD 88 - where it is available. NAVD 88 coverage in Alaska is not complete and may not be suitable for all regions. No NAVD 88 coverage exists in Hawaii or PR/VI, hence only the EGM96 geoid surface is currently valid there.The GEOID03 product comprises eight files for the conterminous US, four files for Alaska, and one each for Hawaii and Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands. Each file contains geoid heights on a one minute by one minute grid in little-endian binary (PC compatible). The INTG program is supplied at the download site to interpolate to a specific position within these grids. Another program, XNTG, is supplied to extract subsets and convert the grids. Both are in FORTRAN, are available compiled and as source code, and can byte-swap the grids if needed on a Unix platform. There is also an on-line geoid computational facility within the NGS Geodetic Tool Kit at http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/TOOLS. Similar files, programs, and on-line computational facilities exist for USGG2003 and DEFLEC99. See the GEOID section of the NGS Web site at http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/GEOID.Geoid and deflection of the vertical models for Mexico and the Caribbean were computed in 1997 and are distributed as MEXICO97, DMEX97, CARIB97, and DCAR97 respectively. NGS also offers technical information concerning the construction of the geoid models and practical information concerning its use on the NGS web site at http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/GEOID.
