This data shows accurate information on broadband take-up, speeds and availability. It has been produced by Ofcom and contains data provided by communications providers. It forms part of Ofcom's ongoing work to provide useful information about broadband in the UK. A key to the numbers in the data is below: Average modem sync speed (Mbit/s) The average maximum speeds of existing broadband connections. Speeds achieved in the home will be slower. Average modem sync speed score Each area has been ranked from 1 to 5 on the average modem sync speed which is the average maximum speed of existing broadband connections. 1= 16Mbit/s or faster 2= 10Mbit/s - slower than 16Mbit/s 3= 8Mbit/s - slower than 10Mbit/s 4= 6Mbit/s - slower than 8Mbit/s 5= slower than 6Mbit/s Percentage receiving less than 2Mbit/s The percentage of homes with broadband currently not achieving 2Mbit/s speeds. Percentage receiving less than 2Mbit/s score Each area has been ranked from 1 to 5 on the percentage of homes with broadband currently not achieving 2Mbit/s. 1= less than 5% 2= 5% - less than 10% 3= 10% - less than 15% 4= 15% - less than 20% 5= 20% or more Superfast availability The percentage of addresses which are within the coverage area of superfast (over 24Mbit/s) broadband networks.
