Description
The National Survey for Wales (NSW) is one of the main ways in which the Welsh Assembly Government knows what issues are important to the people of Wales. The aim of the survey is to help the Welsh Assembly Government to: i) monitor trends in the concerns and needs of people; in Wales ii) assess views and experiences of public services; iii) target resources to meet needs. The pilot study was completed in 2009-2010. Once the design is finalised, the NSW will run continuously to at least 2014. The main survey will begin in 2012 and this will offer the opportunity for public sector bodies to contribute their own questions to the questionnaires. The NSW has replaced the Living in Wales survey series (available from the UK Data Archive under GN 33397). Further information is available on the Welsh Assembly Government NSW web pages. The aim of the National Survey for Wales, 2009-2010: Pilot Study was to test the survey design, but also to provide valuable information for the Welsh Assembly Government on a range of issues. The pilot survey was based on face-to-face interviews in a randomly chosen sample of households across Wales. In each of these households, the survey covered the head of household and a randomly selected adult (who may also be the head of household). There was also a short self-completion questionnaire for every adult in the household.
