Description

The Omnibus Surveys are a convenient way to get very quick input on transportation issues; to see who uses what, how they use it, and how users view it, and what they think about it; and to gauge public satisfaction with the transportation system and government programs. The series of surveys include: A monthly household survey of 1,000 households each month, which collects data on core questions about general travel experiences, satisfaction with the system, and some demographic data. Targeted surveys to address special transportation issues, as the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) operating administrations need them

Description

This narrative report for Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge outlines Refuge accomplishments from January through April of 1954. The report begins by summarizing the weather conditions, water conditions, and food and cover during this period. Wildlife including migratory birds, upland game birds, big game animals, furbearers, predators, rodents, raptors, and fish is also covered. The Refuge development and maintenance section discusses physical developments, plantings, and wildfires. Resource management is outlined; topics include grazing, haying, and timber removal. A progress report on field investigations and applied research is also provided. The public relations section of the report describes recreational uses, Refuge visitors, Refuge participation, hunting, fishing, and violations. NR forms and photographs are attached.

The accession contains physical profile data in the TESAC format. This contains one month data that was sent as radio messages from ships to Ocean Products Center (OPC) in March 1990. Data was collected as part of Integrated Global Ocean Service System (IGOSS) and was received from the OPC, Camp Springs, Maryland. The data on magnetic disk sent by Mr. William D. Newell has been copied to current NODC data storage format.

Description

The product is a 2.5 deg x 2.5 deg gridded composite of daily time-series of total (IC+CG) lightning bulk production, expressed as a flash rate density (fl/km2/day). Separate gridded time series from the OTD and LIS missions are included, as well as a combined OTD+LIS product. Lowpass temporal filtering (110-day for OTD, 98-day for LIS, 110-day for combined) and spatial moving average filtering (7.5 deg) have been applied, as well as best-available detection efficiency corrections and instrument cross-normalizations, as of the product generation date (09/01/06).

Description

The data contained in these files contain hydrographic and topographic data collected by the CHARTS system along the west coast of Florida from Hurricane Pass to Big Hickory Pass, following Hurricane Wilma. The data were collected and processed in geographic coordinates and ellipsoid heights. The positions are relative to NAD83 in decimal degrees of longitude and latitude. The heights were converted from ellipsoid to geoid heights (NAVD88) using the Geoid03 model with the results in meters. The date and time of each point are also provided as YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS.SSSSSS.

Description

MODIS (or Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) is a key instrument aboard the Terra (EOS AM) and Aqua (EOS PM) satellites. Terra's orbit around the Earth is timed so that it passes from north to south across the equator in the morning, while Aqua passes south to north over the equator in the afternoon. Terra MODIS and Aqua MODIS are viewing the entire Earth's surface every 1 to 2 days, acquiring data in 36 spectral bands, or groups of wavelengths (see MODIS Technical Specifications). These data will improve our understanding of global dynamics and processes occurring on the land, in the oceans, and in the lower atmosphere. MODIS is playing a vital role in the development of validated, global, interactive Earth system models able to predict global change accurately enough to assist policy makers in making sound decisions concerning the protection of our environment.

The 1990 Enhanced Migration Files portion of the Archive of Census Related Products (ACRP) contains migration data derived from the U.S. Census Bureau's Summary Tape File (STP-28). The data includes counts by race and hispanic origin within each county, county to county, and state to state. This portion of the ACRP is produced by the Columbia University Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN). (Suggested Usage: To provide migration data at the county and state levels for the U.S.)

The Integrated Science Data Management (ISDM) office processes oceanographic profiles reported for the world oceans in near real-time from the Global Telecommunications System (GTS) for the Global Temperature and Salinity Profile Program (GTSPP). These data also support the activities of the Ship-of-Opportunity Programme Implementation Panel (SOOPIP) and the WOCE Upper Ocean Thermal Program (WOCE UOT).

Description

The GOZCARDS Source Data for Water Vapor Monthly Zonal Averages on a Geodetic Latitude and Pressure Grid product (GozSmlpH2O) contains zonal means and related information (standard deviation, minimum/maximum value, etc.), calculated from original (‘Level 2’ type) satellite instruments and products. The source H2O data are from the following satellite instruments: HALOE (v19; 1991-2005), UARS MLS (v5; 1991-1997), ACE-FTS (v2.2; 2004-onward), Aura MLS (v2.2; 2004 onward). The vertical pressure range for H2O is from 147 to 0.01 hPa. The source data are used to create a merged product contained in a separate data product with the short name GozMmlpH2O. The GozSmlpH2O source data are written using the new netCDF4 enhanced model using CF-1 metadata attributes. The data variables are organized into a Group hierarchy structure. Global Attributes describing the data file (e.g. data start/end time, spatial extent, etc.) are located at the file/root level. Users can use netCDF enabled tools to view the data. Since netCDF4 is based on the HDF5 format, HDF5 readers will also work with these data files. Parameters contained in the data files include the following: Variable Name |Description |Units /HALOE/average |Water Zonal Average from HALOE |(mol/mol) /UARS MLS/average|Water Zonal Average from UARS MLS |(mol/mol) /ACE-FTS/average |Water Zonal Average from ACE-FTS |(mol/mol) /Aura MLS/average|Water Zonal Average from Aura MLS |(mol/mol) End of parameter informationGOZCARDS (Global OZone Chemistry And Related trace gas Data records for the Stratosphere) refers to a commonly-formatted Earth system data record (ESDR) for stratospheric composition, of high relevance to the issue of ozone decline and recovery. High-quality long-term ozone and related trace gas data records are needed to (a) evaluate and understand composition changes in the atmosphere and (b) constrain model representations of atmospheric dynamics and photochemistry.
