The Blue Maps method aims to categorise coastal ecosystems into one of four classes based on the degree of hydrological connection with the Great Barrier Reffer (GBR) (Table1). The graduated scale (0 to 3) represents the level of potential influence and connection, in time and space, of marine and freshwater over coastal ecosystems.
