This dataset shows the locations of commercial sites considered as part of the Council's Employment Land Review. The Employment Land Review (ELR) is part of the evidence base that will underpin the Runnymede 2035 Local Plan. The ELR has been produced in collaboration with Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners and assesses how much employment land is likely to be required within Runnymede Borough to the year 2035. The ELR also assesses how suitable existing and proposed sites are for employment use. This is to make sure that the Council understands which are the most important sites/areas in the Borough so it can consider whether any protection should be given to such areas through the Local Plan to ensure that they are not developed for alternative uses. The ELR also highlights current employment sites which are no longer considered suitable and could be released for an alternative use.

An Article 4 Direction serves to restrict permitted development rights, either in relation to a particular area or site, or a particular type of development anywhere in the Council's area. Where an Article 4 Direction is in effect, a planning application may be required for development that would otherwise have been permitted development. Article 4 Directions are used to control works that could threaten the character of an area of acknowledged importance, such as a conservation area.
