Summary
Description
The Lahontan Valley contains approximately 48,745 acres of wetland habitat. The size of the areas range from small seep ponds of less than an acre to management areas having up to 20,000 acres of marsh. The wetlands supported 31,959,103 waterfowl use days and produced 24,431 young waterfowl. Annual use for marsh and shorebirds was 9,133,200 days. Production was estimated at 32,804. Impoundments which maintain sizable fish populations were identified. The Carson Lake area and the Stillwater Wildlife Management Area contained most of the wetland and supported most of the wildlife. Hunting and fishing are the main recreational uses, although nonconsumptive wildlife related activities, such as observation and photography are increasing. The total use in the valley amounted to 60,635 visits. Annual productivity of a marsh was measured by inventorying the submergent and emergent vegetation. Of the 18,741 acres of water surveyed, 4,935 acres contained submergent vegetation. Emergent vegetation covered approximately 5,746 acres. Seasonal fluctuations in water levels and changes in the total dissolved salt concentrations appear to be related to the irrigation season. Economic benefits derived from grazing and muskrat trapping are considerable.

Description
The cropland program on Big Stone NWR will be accomplished each year with a combination of: 1 force account farming of permanent farm units where there is no cooperative farming interest, 2 longterm cooperative farming agreements on permanent farm units where there is cooperative farming interest. Permanent farm units shown in figure 1 are to be maintained. Crops remaining over winter from a combination of the above will provide a minimum means of meeting standing crop commitments.

ESRI GRID raster datasets were created to display and quantify nahcolite resources for eight oil shale zones in the Piceance Basin, Colorado as part of a 2009 National Oil Shale and Nahcolite Assessment. The zones in descending order are: L-5, R-5, L-4, R-4, L-3, R-3, L-2, and R-2. Each raster cell represents a one-acre square of the land surface and contains values for nahcolite tonnage. The gridnames follow the naming convention *_n, where "*" can be replaced by the name of the oil shale zone.

The TIGER/Line Files are shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) that are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The purpose of this file is to provide the geography for the 2010 Census Blocks along with their 2010 housing unit count and population. Census Blocks are statistical areas bounded on all sides by visible features, such as streets, roads, streams, and railroad tracks, and/or by nonvisible boundaries such as city, town, township, and county limits, and short line-of-sight extensions of streets and roads. Blocks are the smallest geographic areas for which the Census Bureau publishes data from the decennial census. A block may consist of one or more faces.

This image is a mosaic of Landsat-7 images of the upper Klamath Basin. The original images were obtained from the U.S. Geological Survey Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS). EROS is responsible for archive management and distribution of Landsat data products. The Landsat-7 satellite is part of an ongoing mission to provide quality remote sensing data in support of research and applications activities. The launch of Landsat-7 on April 15, 1999 marks the addition of the latest satellite to the Landsat series. The Landsat-7 satellite carries the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) sensor. A mechanical failure of the ETM+ Scan Line Corrector (SLC) occurred on May 31, 2003, with the result that all Landsat 7 scenes acquired from July 14, 2003 to present have been collected in 'SLC-off' mode. More information on the Landsat program can be found online at http://landsat.usgs.gov/.
Digital data sets that describe aquifer characteristics of the alluvial and terrace deposits along the North Canadian River from Canton Lake to Lake Overholser in central Oklahoma
Published By U.S. Geological Survey, Department of the Interior

Summary
Description
This data set consists of digital polygons of a constant hydraulic conductivity value for the alluvial and terrace deposits along the North Canadian River from Canton Lake to Lake Overholser in central Oklahoma. Ground water in approximately 400 square miles of Quaternary-age alluvial and terrace aquifer is an important source of water for irrigation, industrial, municipal, stock, and domestic supplies. The aquifer consists of clay, silt, sand, and gravel. Sand-sized sediments dominate the poorly sorted, fine to coarse, unconsolidated quartz grains in the aquifer. The hydraulically connected alluvial and terrace deposits unconformably overlie Permian-age formations. The aquifer is overlain by a layer of wind-blown sand in parts of the area. A uniform hydraulic-conductivity value of 38.9 feet per day was used as input to the ground-water flow model for the aquifer and is used in this data set. The features representing boundaries along geological contacts were extracted from published digital surficial geology data sets based on a scale of 1:250,000. The northwest and southeast geographic limits of the aquifer and were digitized from a folded paper map in a ground-water modeling report, at a scale of 1:250,000 Ground-water flow models are numerical representations that simplify and aggregate natural systems. Models are not unique; different combinations of aquifer characteristics may produce similar results. Therefore, values of hydraulic conductivity used in the model and presented in this data set are not precise, but are within a reasonable range when compared to independently collected data.
