False-color composite of Landsat data for the Death Valley regional ground-water flow system project, Nevada and California
Published By U.S. Geological Survey, Department of the Interior
Issued over 9 years ago
Summary
Description
The false-color composite image of the Death Valley regional ground-water flow system (DVRFS), an approximately 100,000 square-kilometer region of southern Nevada and California, was derived from Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) data for 1996. The image is a composite of spectral bands 2, 4, and 7 in RGB (Red-Green-Blue) space. Individual bands were processed to display their full dynamic range. The image was further processed in hue-saturation space to emphasize specific geologic features. The image was a base reference for field reconnaissance work and for developing of the DVRFS transient ground-water flow model. The DVRFS flow model is one of the most recent in a number of regional-scale models developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to support investigations at the Nevada Test Site (NTS) and at Yucca Mountain, Nevada (see "Larger Work Citation", Chapter A, page 8).

Summary
Description
This map layer shows elevation contour lines for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The map layer was derived from the 100-meter resolution elevation data set which is published by the National Atlas of the United States, and is in the same Albers Equal-area Conic projection as that source data set. Contour intervals match the steps used in the National Atlas Color-Sliced Elevation data sets. Contours were adjusted so that they are in the proper relationship to National Atlas 1:1,000,000-scale lakes, reservoirs, and wide (double-line) streams.

The Real Property Project Tracking System (RPPTS), formerly known as the Lease/Project Tracking (LEASE) database, contains information about lease and land projects that are handled by the Office of Construction & Facilities Management. Through a delegation of leasing authority from General Services Administration (GSA), VA directly leases its space. Information collected includes type of space, type of lease, proposed space dimensions and budget, type of land acquisition, brief description of the project, acquisition milestone dates, and project manager's contact information. The information is provided and entered in by the responsible project manager. RPPTS was developed by the VA Headquarters Automation Center in collaboration with Real Property Management Service to provide on-line access to information concerning VA's direct leasing projects.

The Denominator File combines Medicare beneficiary entitlement status information from administrative enrollment records with third-party payer information and GHP enrollment information. The Denominator File contains data on all Medicare beneficiaries enrolled and or entitled in a given year. It is an abbreviated version of the Enrollment Data Base (EDB) (selected data elements). It does not contain data on all beneficiaries ever entitled to Medicare. The file contains data only for beneficiaries who were entitled during the year of the data. These data are available annually in May of the current year for the prior year.

The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is the codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government. It is divided into 50 titles that represent broad areas subject to Federal regulation. Each print volume of the CFR is updated once each calendar year, and is issued on a quarterly basis. Bulk data downloads of Code of Federal Regulations files in XML format are available from 2000 to the present, by year, title, and volume. The current XML data set is not yet an official format of the Code of Federal Regulations. Only the PDF and Text versions have legal status as parts of the official online format of the Code of Federal Regulations. The XML-structured files are derived from SGML-tagged data and printing codes, which may produce anomalies in display. In addition, the XML data does not yet include image files. Users who require a higher level of assurance may wish to consult the official version of the Code of Federal Reulations on FDsys.gov. The FDsys data set includes digitally signed Code of Federal Regulations PDF files, which may be relied upon as evidence in a court of law. The Census Bureau includes landmarks in the MTDB for locating special features and to help enumerators during field operations. Some of the more common landmark types include area landmarks such as airports, cemeteries, parks, schools, and churches and other religious institutions. The Census Bureau added landmark features to MTDB on an as-needed basis and made no attempt to ensure that all instances of a particular feature were included. The presence or absence of a landmark such as a hospital or prison does not mean that the living quarters associated with that landmark were geocoded to that census tabulation block or excluded from the census enumeration. The Area Landmark Shapefile does not include military installations or water bodies because they each appear in their own separate shapefiles, MIL.shp and AREAWATER.shp respectively.

The Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) Household Component (HC) collects data from a sample of families and individuals in selected communities across the United States, drawn from a nationally representative subsample of households that participated in the prior year's National Health Interview Survey (conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics). During the household interviews, MEPS collects detailed information for each person in the household on the following: demographic characteristics, health conditions, health status, use of medical services, charges and source of payments, access to care, satisfaction with care, health insurance coverage, income, and employment. The panel design of the survey, which features several rounds of interviewing covering two full calendar years, makes it possible to determine how changes in respondents' health status, income, employment, eligibility for public and private insurance coverage, use of services, and payment for care are related. The HC expenditures have been projected to future years by selected demographic characteristics by source of payment and type of service. HC data are available on the MEPS Web site in data tables, downloadable data files (person, job, event, or condition level). Public Use Files are available.

Analysis reported in Post-Discharge Follow-Up Visits and Hospital Utilization by Medicare Patients, 2007-2010, published in Volume 4, Issue 2 of Medicare and Medicaid Research Review, shows an increase in the likelihood of receiving a community-based follow-up visit within 30 days of discharge and a slight decrease in the number of days before such visits took place for Medicare patients with an initial admission for heart failure (HF), acute myocardial infarction (AMI), or community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). The largest increase was in 2009 when CMS began publicly reporting hospital-level readmission rates for these conditions. Patients who were Black, Hispanic, or enrolled in Medicaid or Medicare Advantage were less likely to have timely post-discharge follow-up visits.

Summary
Description
This is an ongoing series of studies to examine the toxicity of various common contaminants that have the potential to affect metabolic homeostasis in salmon. We have completed experiments with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, tributyltin, and bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate. With the current experiment we are examining the effects of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid on juvenile chinook. The experiments examine growth and various physiological parameters related to metabolism and lipid dynamics. All experiments are conducted at environmentally relevant exposure concentrations that fish experience in urban estuaries. Excel spreadsheets - growth values, plasma parameters, lipid content
