The Digital Geologic Map of San Juan Island National Historical Park and vicinity, Washington is composed of GIS data layers complete with ArcMap 9.2 layer (.LYR) files, two ancillary GIS tables, a Windows Help File with ancillary map text, figures and tables, a FGDC metadata record and a 9.2 ArcMap (.MXD) Document that displays the digital map in 9.2 ArcGIS. The data were completed as a component of the Geologic Resource Evaluation (GRE) program, a National Park Service (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) funded program that is administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD). Source geologic maps and data used to complete this GRE digital dataset were provided by the following: Washington Division of Geology and Earth Resources (WDGER) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Detailed information concerning the sources used and their contribution the GRE product are listed in the Source Citation sections(s) of this metadata record (sajh_metadata.txt; available at http://nrdata.nps.gov/sajh/nrdata/geology/gis/sajh_metadata.xml). All GIS and ancillary tables were produced as per the NPS GRE Geology-GIS Geodatabase Data Model v. 2.0. (available at: http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/inventory/geology/GeologyGISDataModel.cfm). The GIS data is available as a 9.2 personal geodatabase (sajh_geology.mdb), and as shapefile (.SHP) and DBASEIV (.DBF) table files. The GIS data projection is NAD83, UTM Zone 10N. That data is within the area of interest of San Juan Island National Historical Park.

Despite legislative changes from 2001 to 2008 that increased Medicare payment rates for telehealth and decreased regulatory burdens, the study Telehealth and Medicare - Payment Policy, Current Use, and Prospects for Growth, in Volume 3, Issue 4 of Medicare and Medicaid Research Review, finds that only 369 providers had 10 or more Medicare telehealth consultations in 2009. Roughly half of the 369 were mental health professionals, and about one-in-five of the 369 were non-physician professionals (e.g., physician assistants and nurse practitioners). The comparative advantage of mental health could be the verbal (rather than physical contact) nature of mental health care. The comparative advantage of non-physician professionals could be their lower labor costs. In some cases, it will be socially desirable to expand telehealth services, but only in cases where the value of emergency access or reduced patient travel time outweighs the additional cost of delivering care via telehealth.

<p>During 2013 and 2015, the DARPA Robotics Challenge explored through a competition the tasks and technologies for robots to operate in a natural and man-made disasters.  NASA’s future need for robots in support of human exploration has significant overlap with the terrestrial need for disaster relief robots.  The area of focus is operations in areas that are difficult to access, are potentially hazardous to humans, and communications between robots and operators may have intermittent, limited or delayed networks.  Additionally, both NASA and disaster relief scenarios call for robots to arrive ahead of humans to perform work such as scouting and setting up logistics.</p><p>During FY2013, NASA developed the Robonaut 5 robot for participation in the DARPA Robotics Challenge trials in December 2013.  The design of this robot was an aggressive build that was focused a strong showing at the DRC finals in 2015.  This approach sacrificed performance at the qualifying trials during December 2013.  </p><p>During FY14, the R5 team partnered with the Institute for Human Machine Cognition (IHMC) robotics group through the National Robotics Initiative grant to apply IHMC’s walking algorithms to R5.  Throughout FY14, IHMC has improved R5’s walking, adding software to move towards the designed capabilities.</p><p>In partnership with the National Science Foundation, NASA will produce two new R5 humanoid robots to be provided to two US robotics teams through a solicited competition.  During FY15, NASA will develop the Space Robotics Challenge with the Centennial Challenges program, with the desire to apply humanoid capabilities to future NASA applications.  The challenge will be a NASA centennial challenge those provided with a Robonaut 5 robot will use it in the challenge and winners of a simulation contest will also use the existing Robonaut 5 robots to compete.  </p><p>Details of the challenge are scheduled to be released in late spring/summer 2015.</p>

The NFHAP Coastal Spatial Framework and Indicator Datasets consist of a geospatial base layer developed in ArcGIS, and associated data fields joined to the spatial framework. The Coastal Spatial Framework is a layer of 612 distinct polygons covering coastal areas of the Continental U.S. Polygons represent either coastal watersheds (land) or coastal waters (estuaries, inshore marine, offshore marine),and are classified into six regions and 22 nested subregions. Each polygon is assigned a unique code (UniqueID) to provide location reference for indicator data, and enable joins to separate data tables.s for information recorded in the Bibliography and Assessment tables. Key indicator data fields attributed to each estuarine polygon include scores for eutrophication, pollutants and contaminants, coastal watershed land use changes, and freshwater inflow and hydrologic alteration over time. In addition, a composite score is calculated as the geometric mean of the four indicator scores.

The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Combined Statistical Areas (CSAs) are defined by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and consist of two or more adjacent Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs) that have significant employment interchanges. The CBSAs that combine to create a CSA retain separate identities within the larger CSA. Because CSAs represent groupings of CBSAs, they should not be ranked or compared with individual CBSAs. The CSA boundaries are those defined by OMB based on the 2010 Census and published in 2013.

<p>Water comprises the majority of the daily mass requirements for crewed space missions. Used for drinking, food prep, or hygiene, water is one of the most critical life support elements. Reliable water recovery is paramount for long term space exploration either on the International Space Station (ISS) or beyond Earth’s gravity well. Advances in water recovery have allowed longer mission durations and decreased launch costs. In order to visit or even habituate extraterrestrial bodies (Mars, Europa) further advances in water recovery are needed.</p><p>Current environmental control and life support systems on the ISS are focused on air and water recovery. Wastewater is pretreated with chromic acid and then distilled. The pretreatment turns about 10% to 30% of the wastewater into unusable brine and makes further water recovery difficult. In addition, no chemicals are retrieved for reuse from the brine. If the wastewater were treated in bioreactors and then distilled or filtered, chemical pretreatment would not be needed and the remaining brine could serve as a resource for chemical and further water recovery.</p><p>Development and application of brine tolerant ion-exchange resins could provide more efficient methods for retrieving elements and pure water from salt water, and provide feed stocks for commercial processes that generate bleach, HCl, and Na/KOH (e.g., Chlor-alkalai Process). If proven feasible, the combined benefits would reduce consumables and further close the water loop for future space exploration. and generate consumable chemicals, such as HCl, NaOH , KOH and sodium hypochlorite (bleach). </p>

The imagery posted on this site is of the Florida panhandle and surrounding regions after Hurricane Ivan made landfall. The regions photographed range from Gulf Port, Mississippi, to Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The aerial photograph missions were conducted by the NOAA Remote Sensing Division the day after Ivan made landfall, September 17 and concluded September 20. The images were acquired from an altitude of 7,500 feet, using an Emerge/Applanix Digital Sensor System (DSS). A total of 2,000 aerial images were obtained during this time period, with more than 1,300 images available to view online and download.

The primary legal divisions of most States are termed counties. In Louisiana, these divisions are known as parishes. In Alaska, which has no counties, the equivalent entities are the organized boroughs, city and boroughs, and municipalities, and for the unorganized area, census areas. The latter are delineated cooperatively for statistical purposes by the State of Alaska and the Census Bureau. In four States (Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, and Virginia), there are one or more incorporated places that are independent of any county organization and thus constitute primary divisions of their States. These incorporated places are known as independent cities and are treated as equivalent entities for purposes of data presentation. The District of Columbia and Guam have no primary divisions, and each area is considered an equivalent entity for purposes of data presentation. The Census Bureau treats the following entities as equivalents of counties for purposes of data presentation: Municipios in Puerto Rico, Districts and Islands in American Samoa, Municipalities in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Islands in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The entire area of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas is covered by counties or equivalent entities. The boundaries for counties and equivalent entities are mostly as of January 1, 2013, primarily as reported through the Census Bureau's Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS). However, some changes made after January 2013, including the addition and deletion of counties, are included.
