Terrain data, as defined in FEMA Guidelines and Specifications, Appendix M: Data Capture Standards, describes the digital topographic data that was used to create the elevation data representing the terrain environment of a watershed and/or floodplain. Terrain data requirements allow for flexibility in the types of information provided as sources used to produce final terrain deliverables. The proposed research is indented to lead to the development of a commercial product that can create a virtual meeting presence by displaying the remote user?s face to achieve a presence. The goal is to render computer-generated objects and visualize them as real objects for the user, thus creating augmented reality system. The first step of achieving a virtual teleconference will be to capture the user?s face. Furthermore, we will use a head-mounted display (HMD) to project the other meeting attendees as if they are at the same location as the user while they are remotely located. A key difference between our proposed product and other efforts is that we offer means for 3D visualization at a cost effective desktop-level. Another key difference is that we offer mobile indoors and outdoors solution providing full face capturing capabilities without the requirement of many cameras (i.e. ?Sea of cameras? proposed by University of North Carolina for example) and is easily calibrated. Adastra Labs? vision for our final product is cost-effective deployable VTMC accessible for everyone.

SRKW were listed as endangered in 2005. This study collected baseline data about the industry to be able to determine social impacts to the industry as a result of the SRKW listing. Primary data was collected, analyzed, and reported. Northwest Regional Office and Protected Species Office staff used some study results in an Environmental Assessment completed in 2011. This map layer is an Arc/INFO grid map of land cover characteristics for North America, excluding Hawaii, and including the Caribbean and most of Mexico. The nominal spatial resolution is 1 km and the map layer is based on 1-km AVHRR data. The data were compiled by staff at the National Center for Earth Resources Observation and Science as part of the Global Land Cover Characterization Project. The land cover classes were produced using 1-km AVHRR data from April 1992 to March 1993. Documentation and the original data are available at . The data available through the National Atlas of the United States are in GeoTIFF format. This is a revised version of the May 2002 map layer, with a corrected shoreline for Greenland.

Description

Robots need to know their location to map of their surroundings but without global positioning data they need a map to identify their surroundings and estimate their location. Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) solves these dual problems at once. SLAM does not depend on any kind of infrastructure and is thus a promising localization technology for NASA planetary missions and for many terrestrial applications as well. However, state-of-the-art SLAM depends on easily-recognizable landmarks in the robot's environment, which are lacking in barren planetary surfaces. Our work will develop a technology we call MeshSLAM, which constructs robust landmarks from associations of weak features extracted from terrain. Our test results will also show that MeshSLAM applies to all environments in which NASA's rovers could someday operate: dunes, rocky plains, overhangs, cliff faces, and underground structures such as lava tubes. Another limitation of SLAM for planetary missions is its significant data-association problems. As a robot travels it must infer its motion from the sensor data it collects, which invariably suffers from drift due to random error. To correct drift, SLAM recognize when the robot has returned to a previously-visited place, which requires searching over a great deal of previously-sensed data. Computation on such a large amount of memory may be infeasible on space-relevant hardware. MeshSLAM eases these requirements. It employs topology-based map segmentation, which limits the scope of a search. Furthermore, a faster, multi-resolution search is performed over the topological graph of observations. Mesh Robotics LLC and Carnegie Mellon University have formed a partnership to commercially develop MeshSLAM. MeshSLAM technology will be available via open source, to ease its adoption by NASA. In Phase 1 of our project we will show the feasibility of MeshSLAM for NASA and commercial applications through a series of focused technical demonstrations.

To help consumers with a wide range of private health insurance questions and complaints, the Affordable Care Act created the Consumer Assistance Program Grants (CAP). CAP Grants provide nearly 30 million dollars in new resources to help States and territories establish or strengthen consumer assistance programs. CAP Grants were awarded in October 2010 and 38 States and Territories are using these resources to empower consumers and provide direct services to answer health insurance questions. Data reported for the first year of the program (October 2010-October 2011) demonstrate the significant impact these programs have already made.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Geospatial Program (NGP) developed the Alaska Mapping Initiative (AMI) to collaborate with the State and other Federal partners to acquire 3-dimensional elevation data to improve statewide topographic maps for Alaska. AMI coordinates Federal activities through the Alaska Mapping Executive Committee (AMEC) and State efforts through Alaska's Statewide Digital Mapping Initiative (SDMI) to ensure a unified approach for consistent data acquisition and enhancement of elevation data products. AMI attained interferometric synthetic aperture radar (IFSAR) to generate digital elevation model (DEM) data. This radar mapping technology is an effective tool for collecting data in challenging circumstances such as cloud cover, extreme weather conditions, rugged terrain, and remote locations. Airborne IFSAR data were flown over South Central Alaska in the summer of 2010 and over Northwest Alaska in 2012.

The Freshwater Treatment and Test Facility, located at SANGB, has direct year-round access to water from Lake St. Clair and has a State of Michigan approved National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit that allows discharge of up to 500,000 gallons per day of fresh water back into the lake. Daily monitoring is conducted with monthly reports submitted to the state. Capabilities: The Freshwater Treatment and Test Facility has two 3,000-gallons-per-hour Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Units (ROWPUs); four 600-gallons-per-hour ROWPUs in types one, two and three; two 1,500-gallons-per-hour Tactical Water Purification Systems; and four Lightweight Water Purifiers, representing the majority of fielded systems in the Army inventory. These systems help resolve field issues, test new components and media, and support research on emerging technologies. The team also trains Soldiers on the equipment's operation and maintenance. The Freshwater Treatment and Test Facility also has the capability to test and evaluate gray water recycle/reuse systems and system components using a test water developed by the Water Treatment and Handling Equipment Team based on gray water generated by shower and laundry systems used on military contingency bases. TARDEC also has access to the Seawater Desalination Test Facility, located at and operated by the Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center, Port Hueneme, CA. The Seawater Desalination Test Facility capabilities are comparable to the Freshwater Treatment and Test Facility but use natural seawater as the test water. TARDEC has two permanent employees stationed at Port Hueneme to support the Army's water treatment and handling mission there, and to facilitate use of the facility. Description

Non-toxic monopropellants have been developed that provide better performance than toxic hydrazine. Formulations based on hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN) have superior performance as compared to hydrazine with Isp (261 seconds, 12% greater), higher density and volumetric impulse, lower melting point, and much lower toxicity (No self contained breathing apparatus required). HAN based monopropellants require higher chamber temperatures (2083K vs 883K) to combust. Current hydrazine based combustion chamber technology (Inconel or niobium C103 and silicide coating) and catalyst (Shell 405) are inadequate. However, current state of the art iridium lined rhenium chambers are compatible with monopropellants and new ignition techniques are being developed. The goal of the SBIR project is fabricate and test a flight weight thrust chamber for HAN based monopropellants.
