The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual-chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The file is georeferenced to earth's surface using the UTM projection and coordinate system. The specifications for the horizontal control of DFIRM data files are consistent with those required for mapping at a scale of 1:12000.

We conducted a series of studies to evaluate methods for laboratory culture and toxicity testing with the endangered desert pupfish, Cyprinodon macularius. This species may be exposed to hazardous levels of selenium in agricultural drains and shoreline pools in the Imperial Valley of California and the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge. Thirtyeight adult pupfish collected by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and shipped to the Columbia Environmental Research Center adapted readily to laboratory culture in well water adjusted to 10 parts per thousand ppt salinity and produced numerous offspring. Offspring were successfully reared to sexual maturity to provide additional brood stock, and both second and third generation offspring were used for acute toxicity tests and for development of methods for chronic toxicity tests. Acute 96hr toxicity tests were conducted in fresh water conductivity 311 Scm with newlyhatched larvae 24 hr old and 3 to 6month old juveniles average length 29 mm desert pupfish, and with comparable age groups of fathead minnows Pimephales promelas, a species that has been widely used as a laboratory test organism. Acute toxicity differed widely among three chemical forms of selenium selenate, selenite, and selenomethionine and between fish species and age groups. For both species, toxicity generally increased in the order: selenate selenite selenomethionine. In tests with all three selenium forms, desert pupfish were generally less sensitive than fathead minnows, which are among the most sensitive aquatic taxa to acute toxicity of waterborne selenium. Lowest median lethal concentrations LC50 for pupfish were 33 mgL for selenate, 22 mgL for selenite, and 0.43 mgL for selenomethionine. The ranking of sensitivity among selenium species differed somewhat among age groups of desert pupfish, as larvae were more sensitive than juveniles to selenite and juveniles were more sensitive to selenate and selenomethionine than larvae. Newlyhatched pupfish performed well under typical test conditions for chronic toxicity tests, with virtually no mortality during a 90d study conducted at a salinity of 5 ppt. Pupfish larvae thrived on a diet of live brine shrimp, and were able to switch to a diet of laboratorycultured aquatic oligochaetes Lumbriculus variegatus after 48 days. Pupfish fed a diet that included oligochaetes grew more rapidly than those fed only brine shrimp and reached reproductive maturity by the end of the test. Pupfish from the oligochaete diet treatment that were transferred to a breeding tank began spawning immediately and produced large numbers of eggs during a threeweek observation period. Hatching success 90 and larval survival 96 were excellent. Results of these studies indicate that desert pupfish are highly suitable for laboratory culture and toxicity testing, and that the rapid sexual maturation of this species should facilitate completion of life cycle testing egglarvaejuvenileadultF1 in a period of six months or less. For chronic laboratory toxicity tests to be realistic simulations of selenium exposure in contaminated habitats, these tests should include exposure to selenium via live diets. However, additional methods development will be necessary to characterize the uptake and bioavailability of selenium into potential live diets, such as brine shrimp andor oligochaetes.

EDFacts Migrant Education Program 2011-12 (EDFacts MEP:2011-12) is one of 17 'topics' identified in the EDFacts documentation (in this database, each 'topic' is entered as a separate study); program data is available since 2005 at . EDFacts MEP:2011-12 (ed.gov/about/inits/ed/edfacts) annually collects cross-sectional data from states to support oversight and reporting of the Migrant Education Program (MEP) about students eligible for funding and students served under the migrant student program at the school, LEA, and state levels. EDFacts MEP:2011-12 data were collected using the EDFacts Submission System (ESS), a centralized portal and their submission by states is mandatory and required for benefits. Not submitting the required reports by a state constitutes a failure to comply with law and may have consequences for federal funding to the state. Key statistics produced from EDFacts MEP:2011-12 are from 10 data groups on Consolidated MEP Funds Status, MEP Personnel (FTE), MEP Personnel (Headcount), MEP Services, MEP Students Eligible and Served -Summer/Intersession, MEP Students Served - 12 - Month, MEP Students Served - Regular School Year, MEP Students Served - Summer/Intersession, Migrant Students Eligible - 12 - Month, and Migrant Students Eligible - Regular School Year. For the purposes of this system, data groups are referred to as 'variables', as a result of the structure and format of EDFacts' data.

The aviation system of the United States of America is one of our national treasures. Very few elements of our culture capture the America spirit like aviation. Air transportation plays an absolutely vital role in our economy, and is also a core part of our high standard of living. But this importance of aviation in our society also makes aviation a highly desirable target for terrorists. Secretary of State Colin Powell has said that "no threat is more serious to aviation" than man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS). Although on-board defenses against MANPADS are being developed for commercial aircraft, these systems will not be deployed for many years and will be very expensive. The innovation proposed herein provides an information and decision support system to enhance security monitoring and patrolling around the perimeter of airports ? where the threat of MANPADS attacks is at its highest. This effort will merge the use of advanced airport surface surveillance data with decision support algorithms and security threat and vulnerability assessment methodologies to identify and alert security personnel regarding the airport perimeter areas of highest vulnerability and greatest access to targets of opportunity for MANPADS attacks or other terrorist activities.

The Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) makes available information for more than 600 toxic chemicals that are being used, manufactured, treated, transported, or released into the environment since 1987. EPA makes changes (additions, deletions, or changes in definition) to the TRI chemical list. As a result, the TRI list of reportable toxic chemicals can vary from year to year. EPA created groupings such as the core chemical lists (of 1988, 1991, 1995, 1998, 2000, and 2001) to facilitate year-to-year comparison based on a consistent set of reporting requirements and assure that changes in TRI release or other waste management amounts do not reflect the addition, deletion, or change in definition of reportable chemicals. EPA also created groupings of specific chemicals of interest by categories such as Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs), Metals, Newly Added TRI Chemicals in 1995, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA, Carcinogens), Persistent Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) Chemicals, and Priority Chemicals.

Water level records are a combination of the fluctuations of the ocean and the vertical land motion at the location of the station. Monthly mean sea level (MSL) variations were analyzed for 128 stations of the National Ocean Service's (NOS) National Water Level Observation Network (NWLON) having between 30 and 146 years of data. The sea level variations determined are the linear trend, the average seasonal cycle, and the interannual variability at each station. Monthly data up to the end of 2006 were used in the calculation and all stations had data spanning a period of 30 years or more. Since the derived trends include the local vertical land motion, they are spatially variable. Calculated MSL trends range from 9.85 mm/yr for Grand Isle, LA to -16.68 mm/yr for Skagway AK, and are consistent with previous trends published by NOS. Available data from this project include time series plots for each station of the monthly MSL with the seasonal cycle removed, a 5-month average, and the linear trend with its 95% confidence interval which was obtained after accounting for the average seasonal cycle; the seasonal cycle; the Interannual variation of mean sea level for all data to 2006; and the Interannual variation from 1980 to the present (updated monthly). The location and timing of any major earthquakes near stations in tectonically-active areas are noted since an associated vertical offset or a change in MSL trend is possible.

This data set comprises the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) and Reach Sensitivity Index (RSI) data for Puerto Rico. ESI data characterize estuarine environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. Most rivers and streams can be readily subdivided into clear-cut segments, or reaches (RSI), that have very distinct and uniform characteristics within that reach of the stream. The definition of reach type is usually based on whatever the intended use of the reach classification might be. In this project, stream reaches are defined as those segments where similar spill-response modes and potential ecological and/or socioeconomic impacts from the spill are to be anticipated. However defined, the boundary of the reach is usually marked by an abrupt change in the morphology of the stream, a change commonly, but not always, brought about by an alteration in the stream's gradient. This data set contains sensitive biological resource polygonal data for marine mammals.
