This project is a cooperative effort among the National Ocean Service, National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment; the University of Hawaii; and Analytical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLC. IKONOS imagery was purchased to support the Pacific Islands Geographic Information System (GIS) project and the National Ocean Service's (NOS) coral mapping activities. One-meter panchromatic and four-meter multi-spectral data were purchased for each study area. The enhanced spectral resolution of multispectral imagery and control of bandwidths of multispectral data yield an advantage over color aerial photography particularly when coral health and time series analysis of coral reef community structure are of interest. The IKONOS imagery was processed to minimize atmospheric and water column effects. Photointerpreters can accurately and reliably delineate boundaries of features in the imagery as they appear on the computer monitor using a software interface such as the Habitat Digitizer.

The NOAA Office for Coastal Management purchased digital ADS40 imagery and digital elevation models of the Connecticut coastline in 2004. The Coastal Connecticut project area is comprised of approximately 930 square miles. A total of 244 orthos (122 natural color and 122 color infrared) were produced to cover this area. Aerial imagery was collected in panchromatic, Red, Green, Blue and Near Infrared which yielded a natural color and false color infrared version of the completed digital orthophotography. In addition to producing the digital ortho imagery a first surface (reflective surface) elevation data set was produced. Imagery was collected at an approximate altitude of 15,750 feet above mean terrain.

As part of a two-year assessment of the geology and mineral resources of the Altiplano and Cordillera Occidental, Bolivia, aeromagnetic and gravity data were acquired from various sources and merged into digital data sets. The data were published as contour mapes (Plates 4 and 5 of Cady and Wise, 1992, USGS) in the final report of the study, USGS Bulletin 1975. The Bolivian Ministry of Mines and Metallurgy recently approved these data for release to the public. In 1991 a new aeromagnetic survey was flown for the Servicio Geologico de Bolivia (GEOBOL) and the Bolivian Ministry of Mines and Metallurgy by BGM Airborne surveys, Inc.

These data are stacked multichannel marine seismic reflection data from six lines recorded during 1988 in the Ross Sea, Antarctica, by the Bundesanstalt fur Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (BGR). under the auspices of ItaliAntartide, the Italian National Research Program in Antarctica. The following data types are included for each line: computer display images, location maps, and the digital seismic data. Software is provided to view the images, to plot selected portions of the data to the screen, and to convert the data into SEG-Y formation. The CD-ROM was produced in accordance with the ISO 9660 Standard. The display software runs only under DOS. All text files are in ASCII format.

This archival package contains model output data that were collected to examine the impact of ocean acidification on fishery yields and profits of red king crab in Bristol Bay. A stage-structured pre-recruit model was developed to capture hypotheses regarding the impact of ocean acidification on the survival of pre-recruit crab. The model was parameterized using life history and survival data for red king crab (Paralithodes camtschaticus) derived from experiments conducted at the National Marine Fisheries Service Kodiak laboratory. A parameterized pre-recruit model was linked to a post-recruit population dynamics model for adult male red king crab in Bristol Bay, Alaska that included commercial fishery harvest. This coupled population dynamics model was integrated with a bioeconomic model of commercial fishing sector profits to forecast how the impacts of ocean acidification on the survival of pre-recruit red king crab will affect yields and profits for the Bristol Bay red king crab fishery fora scenario that includes future ocean pH levels predictions. Expected yields and profits were projected to decline over the next 50-100 years in this scenario given reductions in pre-recruit survival due todecreasing ocean pH levels over time. The target fishing mortality used to provide management advice based on the current harvest policy for Bristol Bay red king crab also declined over time in response todeclining survival rates. However, the impacts of ocean acidification due to reduced pre-recruit survivalon yield and profits are likely to be limited for the next 10-20 years, and its effects will likely be masked by natural variation in pre-recruit survival. This analysis is an initial step toward a fully integrated under-standing of the impact of ocean acidification on fishery yields and profits, and could be used to focus future research efforts.

Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) maps are an integral component in oil-spill contingency planning and assessment. They serve as a source of information in the event of an oil spill incident. ESI maps contain three types of information: shoreline habitats (classified according to their sensitivity to oiling), sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. Most often, this information is plotted on 7.5 minute USGS quadrangles, although in the Alaska ESI maps, USGS topographic maps at scales of 1:63,360 and 1:250,000 are used, and in other ESI maps, NOAA charts have been used as the base map. Collections of these maps, grouped by state or a logical geographic area, are published as ESI atlases. Digital data have been published for most of the U.S. shoreline, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

The Tropical Atmosphere Ocean (TAO) Array of 55 moored buoys spans the tropical Pacific from longitudes 165°E to 95°W between latitudes of approximately 8°S and 9°N. Moorings within the array measure surface meteorological and upper-ocean parameters and transmit most data in real time to shore via Service Argos. The array was part of the in-situ measurement portion of the Tropical Ocean-Global Atmosphere (TOGA) Program, a 10-year (1985 - 1994) study of climate variability on seasonal to interannual time scales, the most pronounced mode of which is the El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon (McPhaden, 1993).

The gravity station data (9,050 records), were observed and processed by the Instituto Geografico Agustin Codazzi(IGAC), in Colombia from 1958 to 1996. This data base was received in April, 1997. Principal gravity parameters include Free-air anomalies and both Simple and Complete Bouguer anomalies. The gravity anomaly values were computed using the GRS80 ellipsoid.

The gravity anomaly computation uses the Geodetic Reference System 1967 (GRS 67) theoretical gravity formula.

Digitial imagery, mpegs and jpegs, captured from mini-DV magnetic videotapes collected with an underwater 3-chip CCD color video camera, deployed from the research submersible, Clelia (owned by Harbor Branch Oceanographic Inst.). Digital clips captured at a minimum of 150 dpi; mpeg file sizes generally range from 0.5 to over 2 Mb. Digital Imagery Captured from Videotapes Recorded during 2001 Clelia Submersible Dives to the Oculina Banks Deep Sea Coral Reefs. The data presented in the Oculina Banks Geographic Information System (OGIS) was collected as part of a cooperative project between: the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Undersea Research Program, NOAA Fisheries (also primary sponsor of OGIS), NOAA Ocean Service, NOAA Ocean Exploration Program, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)-- Coastal and Marine Geology Program, Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution (HBOI) and Florida State University. An Oculina Geographic Information System (OGIS) provides a comprehensive, interactive data source for the Oculina Banks Habitat Area of Particular Concern (OHAPC), a marine protected area off the east coast of Florida in 70 to 120 meters of water depth. Data layers include; multi-beam bathymetry, single-beam bathymetry, sidescan mosaics, sediment analyses, resulting interpretative maps of habitat types, video and still imagery from submersible (human occupied and remotely operated vehicles) dive transects and point counts (fish and habitat cover), and dive narratives. This metadata record relates to images captured from videotapes recorded during the 2001 "Islands in the Stream" Expedition, on fourteen "Clelia" submersible dives.
