NODC Accession 0115182 includes chemical, meteorological, physical and underway - surface data collected from L'ASTROLABE in the Indian Ocean, South Pacific Ocean and Tasman Sea from 2013-01-10 to 2013-03-04 and retrieved during cruise 353L20130110 and 353L20130219. These data include AIR-SEA DIFFERENCE - PARTIAL PRESSURE (OR FUGACITY) OF CARBON DIOXIDE, BAROMETRIC PRESSURE, CARBON DIOXIDE - AIR, Partial pressure (or fugacity) of carbon dioxide, SALINITY, SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE, WIND DIRECTION and WIND SPEED. The instruments used to collect these data include Carbon dioxide (CO2) gas analyzer and Shower head chamber equilibrator for autonomous carbon dioxide (CO2) measurement. These data were collected by Bronte Tilbrook of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization as part of the VOS_L_Astrolabe_2013_AL1213R2 and VOS_L_Astrolabe_2013_AL1213R4 data set. The Global Volunteer Observing Ship (VOS) Program is coordinated by the UNESCO International Ocean Carbon Coordination Project (IOCCP). International groups from 14 countries have been outfitting research ships and commercial vessels with automated CO2 sampling equipment to analyze the carbon exchange between the ocean and atmosphere.

This data contains densities of fishes detected using mobile fisheries sonar on board the NOAA Ship Nancy Foster. The data were acquired in concert with a multibeam bathymetry survey of St. John Shelf, off the coast of United States Virgin Islands in 2010. Fish densities are presented by size classes, corresponding to individual lengths inferred from the intensity of acoustic target return, in units of fish per 100 square meters.

Gridded bathymetry shelf, bank and slope environments of Alamagan, Guguan, and Sarigan Island, CNMI. Bottom coverage was achieved in depths between -7 and -2761 meters. The netCDF and Arc ASCII grids include multibeam bathymetry from the Simrad EM300 and Reson 8101 multibeam sonars collected as of June 2007 by the NOAA Coral Reef Ecosystem Division. The sonar frequencies are 30 and 240 kHz respectively.

Airborne gravity data for Nebraska collected in 2014 over one survey. This data set is part of the Gravity for the Re-definition of the American Vertical Datum (GRAV-D) project initiated by NOAA's National Geodetic Survey to collect and monitor gravity data suitable for the re-definition of the vertical datum for at least the United States and territories. Gridded side-scan imagery collected in Apra Harbor, Guam U.S. Territory, USA. The GeoTIFF and Arc ASCII file includes data that were collected using a Klein 3000 high-resolution side-scan sonar system with dual operating frequencies of 100 and 500 kHz. The data were collected in 2008 by the NOAA Office of Coast Survey and the United States Navy Fleet Survey Team and were preliminarily processed by NOAA OCS using the Caris software. Additional processing and mosaicking was performed by the NOAA Coral Reef Ecosystem Division.

This project is a cooperative effort between the National Ocean Service, National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment, the University of Hawaii, and Analytical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLC. The goal of the work was to develop coral reef mapping methods and compare benthic habitat maps generated by photointerpreting georeferenced color aerial photography, hyperspectral and IKONOS satellite imagery. The enhanced spectral resolution of hyperspectral and control of bandwidths of multispectral data yield an advantage over color aerial photography particularly when coral health and time series analysis of coral reef community structure are of interest. Depending on the type of instrument, a spectral imaging system can be utilized to see multiple colors from ultraviolet through the far infrared range. The AURORA hyperspectral imaging system collected 72 ten nm bands in the visible and near infrared spectral range with a 3 meter pixel resolution. The data was processed to select band widths, which optimized feature detection in shallow and deep water. Photointerpreters can accurately and reliably delineate boundaries of features in the imagery as they appear on the computer monitor using a software interface such as the Habitat Digitizer.

This data set contains lidar point data (Geodetic Coordinates) from a strip of Southern California coastline (including water, beach, cliffs, and top of cliffs) from Long Beach to the US/Mexico border. The data set was created by combining data collected using an Optech Inc. Airborne Laser Terrain Mapper (ALTM) 1225 in combination with geodetic quality Global Positioning System (GPS) airborne and ground-based receivers. The Bureau of Economic Geology, the University of Texas at Austin owns and operates an ALTM 1225 system (serial number 99d118). The system was installed in a twin engine Partenavia P-68 (tail number N3832K) owned and operated by Aspen Helicopter, Inc. The lidar data set described by this document was collected on 24 and 25 March 2006; Julian Days 08306 and 08406 (see Lineage, Source_Information, Source_Contribution for pass information). 99d118 instrument settings for these flights were; laser pulse rate: 25kHz, scanner rate: 26Hz, scan angle: +/- 20deg, beam divergence: narrow, altitude: 300-600m AGL, and ground speed: 95-120kts. Two GPS base stations were operating during each day of the survey, Point Loma and San Onofre on 08306 and Seal Beach and San Onofre on 08406 (see Lineage, Source_Information, and Source Contribution for coordinates). Data represented is all points including terrain, vegetation, and structures. This data also contains returns from the water surface. No processing has been done to remove returns from terrain, vegetation, structures or water surfaces.

Bathythermograph data were collected from the MELLON within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station V (3400N 16400E) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 27 December 1971 to 20 January 1972. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.

The purpose of CAGES (Comparative Assessment of Gulf Estuarine Systems) is to compile the fishery independent data from five Gulf States into a database to more easily compare the fisheries across the US Gulf of Mexico coast. The CAGES database is intended for scientific research only. The CAGES program is designed to examine the differences between estuarine ecosystems and investigate why some are more productive than others. The program focuses on estuarine areas important to commercial fisheries and includes data on commercial finfish and invertebrate species, as well as other species commonly captured in trawl sampling. The CAGES Relational Database is a compilation of fishery-independent data contributed by natural resource agencies of the Gulf States (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida). This data set includes data from trawls as well as associated hydrographic data. Trawl data were used to calculate CPUE (catch per unit effort) at each station. These data are subdivided by state, and original data are in Microsoft Office Access (.accdb) format. Data are also provided as matching ASCII (.csv) files with standard metadata in both Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and International Standard Organization (ISO) format. An accompanying report, NOAATechnicalMemorandumNMFS-SEFSC-647.pdf, provides a study overview, methodology, and results. Data files include CPUE, hydrological, lengths, samples, species, stations, and trawls. Users are advised to review the individual metadata report for each state for specific notes on data collection, data processing details, omissions and issues.
